Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Voted no.
If Juthtin is determined to levy this new tax he will. But the provinces don’t have to be his tax collectors.
77% no when I voted.
Captcha finally let me in after three days with no text to copy!
No they should not, and what should have happened long ago is that all the premiers should have all collectively given diaper boy the middle finger.
So it’s not fair if we opt out .For whom ? Because according to the program climate Barbie and bird brain are selling , Saskatchewan would be missing out on all the wonderful advances and growth this tax (sorry -price ) will create ? Yes , let’s go with that . It’s not a tax ! hmmm
Remember that the moniker “Climate Change” is a cover (curtain) for the Global warming Scam… There is NO scientific plan to control the planet, or even understand the nature of the planet… Spinning wheels going nowhere
The Taxation is the wealth redistribution dream of the NEW (same old Socialist) World Order… EU/UN nonsense… The UN is done…
80-20 NO upon my NO vote
Nope. They should fight in court to establish the limits of federal jurisdiction over crown corps. If Saskatchewan loses then no crown corps should be excluded from federal taxation — meaning Quebec hydro and its revenues should be included when calculating equalization payments.
In the meantime, the Saskatchewan government should publicly request that carbon tax revenues be applied to Saskatchewan’s provincial debt. The money might as well go towards something worthwhile as the case winds its way through the courts. Tax cuts are another option but if Sask wins then they’d have to raise them again. Debt reduction helps everyone and is simpler to alter after the court decides. If the Liberal Party refuses to agree to debt reduction then it makes them look even more like heavy-handed tyrants.
“Should Saskatchewan sign on to Ottawa’s climate change plan?”
F&ck No!!!
There wasn’t a choice for that, so I just clicked ‘no’.
Ahnold Schwarzenegger is going to sue the Oil companies for murder in a U.S. civil court. Discovery will be truly glorious.
>”The oil companies knew from 1959 on, they did their own study that there would be global warming happening because of fossil fuels, and on top of it that it would be risky for people’s lives, that it would kill,” Schwarzenegger said.
http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2018/03/12/arnold-schwarzenegger-sue-oil-companies-first-degree-murder/
Finally a chance to show the world some real science and have it verified in a court of law.
Then I expect Ahnold to immediately cease and desist all use of fossil fuels and all petroleum based products. Ohhhh … wayyyy more than selling his Humvee. Essentially, everything whatsoever in his life that is based on oil. And all the groups (starting with their lawyers) who oppose oil and carbon. Stop using a product that is murdering people. How can these people oppose guns that murder (sic), but continue to use oil which murders (sic). Let the courthouse be lit by solar panels – ONLY
Remember when Ahnold promised the California voters that if they elected him to be Governor that he’d never act again? LOL
As if he ever acted before…
I was under the impression that our Dear leader in Ottawa can override any Province that refuses to buy in to the AGW scam, and impose a federal tax on the Province.
Am I wrong?
“I was under the impression that our Dear leader in Ottawa can override any Province that refuses to buy in to the AGW scam, and impose a federal tax on the Province.
Am I wrong?”
Yes and no. The Federal Government has no power to impose a federal tax on only one province because that’s not how federal taxation works.
If a province elects not to participate in the carbon scam, er, tax, about the only thing the Feds can do is impose their own federal tax, which they’re going to do anyway. But here’s the tricky part: because the Federal Government taxes Canadian citizens, residents and businesses at the same rate regardless of where they live in Canada, it cannot impose a higher rate of taxation on the residents of any one province; any federal carbon tax would have to be the same rate across Canada.
So basically (for argument’s sake), if BC agreed to some sort of 50-50 harmonized $50 a tonne tax with the Feds, the BC government would get $25 and the Federal Government $25. If Saskatchewan doesn’t agree to participate, the Feds can’t just start taxing people and businesses in that province at $50 a tonne, only at $25 a tonne – the same Federal rate people and businesses in BC would pay.
What the Feds can do is mess around at the programmes (outcomes) end were they can tinker with Federal largesse by region. No $50 million infrastructure grant for you, Regina, sorry, we gave it to Charlottetown this year!
When Ahnold said he would duct tape climate deniers mouths to the tail pipe of a car, he was not only confusing carbon dioxide with carbon monoxide but he failed to recognise the irony of a guy speaking with a heavy German accent and threatening to kill people with lethal gas.
Interesting but in practice hasn’t Ottawa given exemptions and exclusions from time to time. In this instance, they’ve deemed Quebec and Ontario’s cap and trade as equivalent to the carbon tax but some estimates show that CnT is lower than the CT due to the collapse of the price of CO2 permits.
Currently 268 yes. 1750 no.
Scary that many voted yes.
remember, you can only vote once….unless you have multiple computers and a smart-phone.
I think it is time for me to sue the Saskatchewan Party for false advertising.
I hear those liars over there saying things like “all options are on the table to fight this carbon tax”. But that is clearly not the case. The day Trudeau stood up in Parliament, Brad Wall should have stood up in the Legislature and declared that Saskatchewan will have a separation referendum within 30 days. Once you have the referendum in hand, THEN you negotiate. Under no circumstance do you call it off or delay; that runs to completion once you start.
Then, once you have the constitutional crisis in full swing, you fastidiously point out every concession that has been given to Quebec and refused you. Start seizing railroad assets; why did we lose the crow rate, but we can’t force them to move their rail yards? Why can’t they move grain, but have no trouble doing Lac Megantic? Impose a $750,000 per car import duty on vehicles built in Ontario; no tariffs for Detroit tho. $75,000,000,000 tarriff on anything Bombardier has ever touched. START RECOVERING THE COSTS THEY HAVE EXTRACTED FROM US. Do a unilatetal end run around NAFTA and negotiate directly with the US on a US Saskatchewan trade agreement. They won’t allow pipelines, they have no control over our trade.
“Ottawa given exemptions and exclusions from time to time. In this instance, they’ve deemed Quebec and Ontario’s cap and trade as equivalent to the carbon tax but some estimates show that CnT is lower than the CT due to the collapse of the price of CO2 permits.”
At the Federal level, if you impose a tax on Canadians, it has to apply universally to Canada as a whole or not at all. You cannot tax Canadians in Saskatchewan at a different rate than Canadians in PEI.
Saying Québec and Ontario’s cap and trade is equivalent to the carbon tax still doesn’t permit you to tax Canadians differently by province. Just because Alberta has no sales tax, that doesn’t permit Ottawa to hike the GST from five to 13 percent in that province.
Still, I suggest we will need to be on the qui vive with the Liberal government in Ottawa; they’ll likely consider every possible sleazy avenue and tactic they can to find some word-around for their carbon scam.
Interesting poll results. But one jurisdiction. Lets see the results from the rest of the provinces. Who is going to drink the kool-aid and who can think for themselves? Lets see some Canada wide results!
Unfortunately, there are many provinces who benefit from these tax redistribution schemes. All but one are located east of Winnipeg, er, Moosomin. So I suspect the nation wide poll would not reflect the results from polls taken in the Heartland.
Thanks for the reply. I expect things will get heated. Trudeau really wants this tax.
Of course Turdeau really wants this tax as he has already committed its revenue to the Health care required by the 30,000 Syrians he plans to import. Also these people have to have food and shelter until they feel like assimilating. Then he has to pay for drugs for the 18-25 crowd living in mommies basement, as well as the above mentioned immigrants who will also require prescriptions for diseases most of us have never even heard of.
