The IRS will pay Equifax $7.25 million to verify taxpayer identities and help prevent fraud under a no-bid contract issued last week, even as lawmakers lash the embattled company about a massive security breach that exposed personal information of as many as 145.5 million Americans.
Abolish the IRS now.

Somewhere in the distance… maybe Shanghai, a fat man at a desk laughs softly…
So the swamp was drained, eh?
The VA won’t see me (I’m probably better off that way).
The SS took half my retirement under a ruling that applies only to some people in some states (so much for equal protection under the law)
And our current president and our previous one make Mr. Trudeau appear to be an exemplar of gravitas.
Patience mon ami … patience. If you read this story, you start to get a hint of one of our government’s WORST dysfunctions … “… the ranking member of the The Senate Finance Committee…” Do you remember the names Chris Dodd and Barney Frank ? They were the CHAIRMAN and “ranking member” of the Senate Banking Committee. They MANDATED that US banks make real estate loans to “underserved communities” and end “red lining” of borrowers and neighborhoods. The Senate Banking Committee established rules … without any other oversight or review … that directly caused the Motgage Market and Real Estate collapse … near Depression, and $ 16 Trillion in National Debt. The swamp is entrenched and embedded in our government structure. Rules NEED to be changed. I have NEVER believed this ever before … but now I am convinced we NEED term limits NOW. In my opinion … NOBODY should EVER become a “ranking member” of anything. “Ranking” of course being based exclusively on longevity in office. The “career” of being a politician needs to be snuffed-out. We will NEVER drain the swamp, when we have lifelong politicians operating the levers of power, deception, and destruction.
there should ne no such creature as a career politician. captch……vote roma
IRS? oh. I thought the thread was titled IRA, easy to confuse the two . . .
bullies and robber baron thugs.
there was a story on 60 minutes or some such about payroll clerks driven to bankruptcy because the IRA, er, *IRS* scoffed at their claims they had NOTHING to do with the fraud perpetrated by the company owners.
bullies bullies bullies. they truly, really, really need to get slammed into by a 30 tonne dump truck and turned into a smudge on the tarmac.
the CRA here in canuckistan came at me three times. wont bore with the details, but the LAST time, after telling me I had to ‘go to the city where I lived at the time to complain there’, my response was to lay out ALL the documents I had on THEIR erroneous claim I owed taxes on money I had NOT earned. (the calculation was THEIR mistake).
I then announced my next stop was to be the offices of the Hamilton Spectator who may very well have delighted in poring over said documents CLEARLY SHOWING the mistake made by the CRA. (this was shortly after another news item about CRA managers and their unofficail quotas)
the happy ending consisted of a letter from the CRA *reversing* THEIR error, cancelling all surcharges and interest, and billing me less than 100 bucks.
