‘You don’t even spell words properly in Canada,’ says a woman who left at age six and doesn’t want to return. ‘You have extra l’s and random u’s everywhere. It’s crazy’
*Says guy who makes more grammatical mistakes in a day than most.

I do not want these f—wits back. Ever.
I note the NP was careful not to mention where this individual was born.
Perhaps she should return there if Canada is not to her liking.
Kind of funny seeing as how her name is “Leezia Dhalla”.
One problem I have with the deportation of dreamers is that they would be deported to their home countries instead of all being sent to that bastion of humanitarian treatment of immigrants called Mexico so those oh so carrying Mexicans could sort the dreamers out. That’s the least they could do as payback for all the money illegals send to Mexico.
The good news is that Trump seems to actually want to hammer out a path to legality or even citizenship for these people.
color.
oxford dictionary colour
Screw Britain, color.
I’ve resented extra letters ever since I learned how to read.
There I was, reading to the whole class and encountered the word “island” so I pronounced what I saw even though I knew what an island is. My book was printed “island.” I was corrected.
“Look, my book says “iSland”
“The s is silent.”
“Son of a BEE HIVE, that’s wrong. That’s just wrong. Eeeew, I hate you adults. You do this just to trip up us youngsters. To make the whole de-coding thing more ridiculously overcomplicated. I am against extra letters. And it’s up to us new readers to set this entire thing straight.”
“Well you do just that.”
So I enjoy seeing the a new generation of internet scribblers do what my generation avoided. I love seeing their new ways of spelling. It fills me with glee and happiness.
Trump did this correctly.
Obama relied too heavily on executive orders, which can disappear with the wind. He should have tried to build a consensus and hammer out a bill that Congress could get behind. It’s a subject that could have generated a bipartisan result – kids brought in by their parents and here years later generate sympathy.
So Trump ends the exec order, but boots it over to Congress with a message: “Fix this.” Congress is where this belongs, not as the subject of yet another transient executive order.
Thought the article mentioned Edmonton as her birthplace. Her father was a realtor; the Edmonton market being flat, he headed south where – for various reasons and/or excuises – they didn’t regularize their position. My heart bleeds.

What in the name of St. Michael the Archangel is going on in this thread.
I personally like con-trer’-va-see as opposed to con’-tro-versy … or is that just a Brit thing ?
Friends don’t let friends drink and comment.
Egg nog is out at the supermarkets. I’ve fallen in deep.
honor
labor
odor
Certain that Trudeau doesn’t spell like I do. Which makes me right as phuck.
I hope she ends up in Brooks, Ab. working in a beef processing plant. They say the work is brutal. Or is it brutle??
As for the crime rate, Edmonton, POP. 928,000 has about 40 murders per year. Second highest in Canada.
Dallas, Texas, much similar city to Calgary and Edmonton, had 135 murders per year. And that’s almost half what they had in 2001.
Take your pick sweetie!!
Metro Dallas is 7 million. Twice all of Alberta
You can add the Color “Mauve”… it is a dead giveaway of who is American, or NOT…
But what about the silent “Q”?
As in Herb Miqnery the cowboy cartoonist
Screw the United States – COLOUR.
After experiencing Canada for the entire 45 years of my life, and the halfwit majority (in every province and region) who will never stop voting for Ralph Goodale, Bob Rae, Rachel Notely, Tommy Douglas, Wynne, Trudea(s), NDP, Liberal, Green, Joe Clark, Charlie Clark… I understand how she feels. At least in the states, there is the possibility that the boot could come off your face momentarily, instead of the future being “a boot stamping on a human face — forever”.
“Metro Dallas is 7 million. Twice all of Alberta”
Why would Sask Watch compare murders in the City of Dallas to the population of Metro Dallas which includes Fort Worth? Fort Worth alone had 66 murders in 2016 with 850,000 people.
DO not forget: LIE-BERRY! I I always love that one.
Edmonton elected Notely didn’t it? I think Canada is the only place on earth that would watch a place like Ontario elect Bob Rae, watch everything that happened, then try to out Rae Ontario with someone like Notely. I can hardly wait to see which province tries to out Notely Alberta. I am betting it will be either us or Manitoba. Or maybe BC has already done it, and the next Great Canadian Contest is to out Horvath BC…
Arguing over spelling and pronunciation.
A discussion can’t possibly get any more threadbare than that.
“But she also wonders how she could pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer in Canada …”
And we need that like a boatload of jihadi refugees.
Canada is freer economically and in many other ways compared to the states.
Cheque vs. the silly American “check”. One is a financial instrument. The other is a mark.
