So woke on ‘social justice’ they’ve gone full circle.
To say that Kinew has a troubled history is putting it mildly. Here we have an individual whose past actions include convictions for drunk driving and assault, theft charges, as well as a pattern of hurtful, misogynistic and homophobic outbursts on social media, the latest of which occurred five years ago when Kinew was 30 and old enough to know better.
And then, of course, there are the two domestic violence charges against him involving his former common-law wife, Tara Hart. Not only did Kinew fail to mention these particular charges in his autobiography, when asked about them by the media, his response was to downplay, deflect and deny that the events ever happened.

All is forgiven when you are of a privileged class I guess. And by privileged I mean “not white or conservative”.
Some are more equal than others in the Marxist world.
Serious question from someone south of your border:
Is the NDP socialist, left-wing, liberal, what?
Socialist mostly with some communist hiding within their ranks.
That should be plural, communists. To be fair though, some are of the Menshevik flavour, some left-liberal, while recognizing some are outright Bolos.
Don, the NDP is primarily a provincial party, never having held power Federally. In Canada the Conservatives are right of center (pro abortion, pro gay marriage, pro universal health care, pro the high tax status quo), the Liberals are center left (like a blowing wind they change to remain in power but like to say they are slightly left of the Conservatives) and the NDP are socialist, left-wing, liberal and WTF (pro union, more government, universal day care, free university, higher pensions for all, basically Bernie Sanders with a Canadian accent).
Yah, I know. We’re screwed eh.
That would be BOZOS, right, Ken?
Progressives, Liberals, NDPs are all headed in the same direction. The only question is how fast? That is why thinking Conservatives in Alberta are quietly asking when and where are the Progs going to reappear? Hopefully they will find new homes. I remain a pessimist.
Hell, with those credentials he’s Senate material.
No, Bolos is the Russian Civil War British term for Bolsheviks (radical socialists).
First of all, there is no such thing as a common-law wife or husband. Take the plunge or don’t but be honest about being married or just shacking up.
Secondly, Pallister’s private em-mail servers may be problematic but I have not heard of his hitting his wife or anyone else.
So there’s that.
The answer is “Yes”.
Thanks, all.
a bozo Bolo! That should clarify, No? I’m trying to work with you…
On second thought I guess Bozos could in some way cover all of them these days. Today’s Liberal Party is no longer liberal in the classical freedom loving liberal sense. Trudeau senior moved the Liberal further to the left and is in my opinion moderate socialist.
Tell the CRA that! Otw I’m just living with a woman my age who has zero income, but is a really good cook!
So, being politically incorrect, the Indians are further up the social justice grievance ladder than beaten women, and victims of drunk driving, as well as victims of homophobic slurs .
Glad I’ve got tha5 cleared up!
Oh, really? Can she make a gingerbread house?! 🙂
What is the ethnic origin of a name like Wab Kinew anyway?
That’s a little bit harsh, Osumashi. Some form of common-law marriage has been around for centuries, generally for a relations that was not – for whatever reason – blessed by the local religious authority. Then, in more recent years, when divorce depended upon the agreement of both parties, it was not unheard of for a person whose marriage had broken down but who could not get a divorce to enter into a common-law relationship with a new partner. Said person would have preferred to make the relationship “legal”, but was unable so to do. Have known several in this position over the years.
In Canada, as far as the Canadian Revenue Agency is concerned, a cohabiting couple is considered “common-law” after twelve months together; this makes them “married” as far as the income act is concerned, which may or may not be beneficial to them. The same criterion applies to same-sex couples: twelve months together and you had better declare your status properly on your next income tax return or there can be serious repercussions. There are different rules if a child is involved and both parents begin to live together, but the twelve-month rule is the one best known. And just try explaining that to the couple in front of you at tax time who are seeking what is “best” (as in least tax paid) and having to tell them that “best” is not in play; it’s reality.
Just because I refuse to call these sorts of relationships marriages doesn’t mean that my tone is harsh. Just as with “no fault” divorce or gay “marriage” one should not term something that does not fit a definition especially when it does not carry the weight or significance that particular thing. People who don’t want to get married because it is considered “old-fashioned” or a “piece of paper” (and then decide to marry once someone else pays for the wedding) aren’t the same as people who solemnised or committed to a legal or cultural union and work through that union.
I refuse to call leftists “progressives”, as well.
Words matter. If not used properly, they frame a debate and then a narrative. Then they become a public policy at the expense of others.
I’m surprised Kinew hasn’t come out in favour of allowing Uber to operate in Manitoba.
Given his propensity to beat up taxi drivers (another crime he tried to sweep under the rug.)
