“Leftists with their inherent laziness and parasitism simply do not generate the money/resources necessary to satisfy everyone’s ego about becoming “Assistant Vice Reserve Diversity Director” or “Vice Secretariat of the Communist Central Commission.” All organizations, leftist or not, need a handful of leaders, and at least thrice the workers. But since most leftists’ egos are insatiable, not to mention their biggest and life-dominating fear is work, when the time comes and if necessary they will GLADLY abandon their ideology and throw their “beloved comrade” under the bus. Alas, leftism only really serves as an excuse, a mask, an ideological hide out for the world’s lazy, cowardly, and egotistical. And if faced with the choice of supporting the cause (and working) or murdering the ideological brethren (to avoid work), they will gladly plant daggers in the back of every “fellow leftist.”

I agree with most of this except for your including musicians in the lazy list. Countless hours of practice, lugging in and setting up thousands of pounds of equipment and lighting, a seven day work week, Sunday was a travel day, sometimes Thursday was a travel and play day, sound checks, rehearsals, and a day that usually ended after one in the morning. Maybe it’s easy if you have a crew of roadies, but I can assure you that most working musicians aren’t that fortunate, and of course you have to be able to put up with drummers. Such was my life as a working musician. The only real benefit was doing something I enjoyed. But lazy? Not when we did it.
One other characteristic of leftists, socialists, and their collectivist ilk: envy.

so much wynneing…
“If interest on debt — which doesn’t reduce the principal —
was a government department, it would be the fourth largest
after health, education and community services.”

A classic example being Bolshevik vs Menshevik.
Most leftists think and talk about work and ideas. They scheme about how to make money off of the labour of others whilst unwilling, and more often then not, hostile to getting their own hands dirty.
They are usually the Community Organizers
That summary on leftists is a bit harsh, don’t you think? Just a bit over the top.
EXcept that the vast majority of musicians are leftists.
politicians, social worker, teaching, Hollywood, (J)urnolism, all “money” trades, sales, and most entertainment industry jobs are all non-productive and mostly non-physical labour intensive, and that is why lefties gravitate towards them. Butt then I know, math is hard, even for some SCC (so-called cons). And understanding of behavioral psychology and math shows this. I’v known this for over 40 years Cappy, you’re slow on the up take:-)))
As I’ve often said, leftism is based not just on the illogical and wicked but on leftists’ egos. They would sooner chew off a leg than admit that they are wrong.
Also, they hate their dads.
Agree with you about the amount of work required to be a successful musician. Having hung around with musicians for most of my life, I also learned that making a living solely from being a musician was the exception rather than the rule despite how talented one was. Didn’t have much use for musicians who felt that they needed government support so that they could engage in their artistic activity, but almost all of my musician friends had a day job and music was their passion. If they got to the point where their band suddenly was getting a lot of gigs then the day job might go or they’d take a leave of absence.
Around 40 years ago I briefly toyed with the idea of taking a break from university and continuing on with a band I was in but sanity prevailed and I just play guitar for relaxation. The people I believe that the Captain is referring to are the government supported “artists” who believe that their “art” should be paid for by other peoples money as no-one will buy it. Such people are sometimes supported by rich benefactors and put out horrendous crap (classic example is Yoko Ono) but successful artists learn quickly what sells. I know a number of quite successful potters who make beautiful art pieces but what pays the bills is high volume functional pottery which they’re skilled enough to crank out quickly and uniformly. Same goes for other self-supporting artists, but then this involves a lot of work rather than coming up with sume deranged idea which is likely to offend most people and calling it “art”.
We need leftists. We need them complaining in the coffee shops. Just not running the government.
I bave to agree with everything you said, especially those so called professional musicians who take government handouts. My time on the road was during the downturn in the early eighties when my well paying day job disappeared, no doubt in part due to Marc Lalonde’s wonderful management of the energy sector.
If you can’t make a living at an art, it should be considered a hobby. My well paying jobs were always a means to support my hobby and by the time forty years had passed.I discovered that I was quite good at the day job as well as the hobby. The hobby will be full time in three years, freedom 65 so to speak, as long as the drama queen doesn’t ef it up.
I fail to see any connection between leftists and laziness. The list of professions and trades given are not by definition a habitat for lazy people despite being more populated by leftists. Many in the left are obsessive zealots spending every waking hour plotting the destruction of liberty. That’s hardly a definition of a lazy person, evil – yes, lazy – no. In some ways laziness (or more broadly described, an aversion to mundane work) could be considered the mother of invention resulting in the inspiration, innovation of, and use of labour-saving devices.
Cappy must be a jock or at least armchair jock as he seems to have it in for musicians. As an old band geek and one still playing, I take offense.
I posted on this recently, citing the 3 main subspecies of leftist:
– the naïve newbies, full of brotherly love and paternalism.
– the academics whose entire career is spent redigesting the shyt that is Marxist dogma.
– the closet tyrants, spouting all the correct phrases and dangling carrots to the masses to gain power.
all of which the end result is 100,000,000 dead.
Intellectually lazy perhaps?
But I do doubt university profs work as hard as most self-employed business people and many who have two jobs to make ends meet.
