I simply see the illegal marijuana industry pretty much carrying on as before, especially if government regulation interferes too much (as doubtless it will) and if legal prices with all the taxes slapped on them are too high (which they probably will be).
In fact, I see an underground industry using the legal marijuana trade as a convenient cover. If it’s legal to smoke the stuff and carry a small amount of it, who is to say where it came from?
After all, bootlegging – whether alcohol or cigarettes – still proceeds briskly, in large part (certainly for cigarettes) due to punitive taxation on these products. And marijuana has another advantage: it’s far easier to produce and sell on than either whisky or cigarettes.

That would be a good compromise, along with a few other caveats that shouldn’t affect dope-heads much – like more random drug testing for emergency services, ALL public servants including parliament, any other employment positions that may put people or property at risk etcetera…..
Conservatives need to start fighting for something in return instead of rolling over every time.
Legal Carry, especially Castle Laws are a damned good start, NO POT legalization until the effects of legal carry & castle laws are comparatively studied against drug legalization & crime rate. We already know the answer by existing US studies, why shouldn’t “conservatives” push for something in return as well?

All pot legalization will accomplish is increasing the profit margin of dealers as they charge a premium above the overpriced weed at the gubmint store.
