In 1967, We had such pride in Canada, a nation carved out of the wilderness by men and women of uncommon valour.
Now 50 years later, we’ve a Prime Minister who doesn’t even believe in the concept of Canada as a nation-state with values and a history, we are proud of.
Canada is true patriot love, standing on guard for thee, including armed guard when necessary.
True north strong and free.
If Colter Wall’s generation are patriots Canada will endure.

Larry;
The essence of Canada was sacrificed on the fields of France in WW I. I say sacrificed because Canada had no reason to blindly support an alliance of Euro monarchist and industrialists.
When you look at the youth who were lost it becomes very apparent that the ethnic mix was changed significantly. One can argue that ethnicity should not matter but no one can argue that different values are held by different people.
That is a good song. I listened to that several times.
Sorry for the long post but David Warren has some interesting thoughts here:
‘The Obamacare fiasco in the House of Representatives, now come to a head, is a reminder that the “administrative state” cannot be peacefully dismantled. The plan was set up, as all progressive measures, to be unrescindable. It did not merely create a vast new class with vested interests; it tipped the scale on medical expenditure (soon one-fifth of the USA economy, thanks to demographics and bureaucratic regulation) from personal to public responsibility. Government is now answerable for anyone uncovered by health insurance, and may use this to routinely demand totalitarian controls. You can’t take Obamacare down (or anything resembling) without replacing it with a more egregious system, or rather, you can’t take it down without tanks.
This is a “problem” with the entire Nanny State. Given 20 trillion of acknowledged federal debt (a small fraction of unfunded liabilities), common sense would indicate the need for economies. But they can’t be made. The federal budget, in USA as in all Western countries, is so dominated by the constantly inflating cost of “entitlements,” and those are so impossible to brake, that cuts must be made to services only governments can provide. There is no “democratic,” and certainly no quiet way out of this rat hole, which the cat of a corrupt jurisprudence now jealously guards.
Americans, as all other denizens of our decaying Western Civ, have become abjectly dependent upon Nanny, spiritually as well as materially, to our ultimate destruction. Individual self-seeking continues, however, and the common effort to game the system accounts for the insupportable debt’

Nice piece on Scheer. He certainly seems likable. I continue to favour Chris Alexander who seems to get very little coverage. I think he has integrity and intelligence, plus excellent experience in areas that will matter significantly come the next election: immigration and foreign affairs.
I am not sure why the media seems to be shunning him. That tells me that he may not be the person they want competing against Trudeau in the next election. The one bit of coverage he did get was a condemnation from the Toronto Star for not stopping the Alberta crowd from chanting “Lock her up.” This is just media mud slinging. It would have been extremely awkward for Alexander to interrupt their chant . . . he would have come across as a tsk . . . tsking school mar’m, completely inappropriate given the mood of the event. It is not as though the crowd was a lynch mob. The chant was simply venting, using a catchy symbolic meme that gained popularity in the US election. The media, however, thinks that everyone must adopt their positions on political correctness. Criticizing Alexander for happening to be at the event and not interfering was the usual media mischief making — of course they then had to ask other conservatives their opinion of the spontaneous chanting, thereby coercing a couple of other Conservatives into criticizing the crowd. That too became part of the manufactured story. |
So — I think Alexander is very skillful and would really shine should he become leader. Paired against Justin, he has way more to offer. I am pretty sure that is motivating at least some of the media to ignore him.

PM Justin Trudeau will visit Vimy Ridge,a very small piece of a massive battle front that wasn’t even mentioned in Britain at the time, but has become iconic due to the overly fevered writings of various Canadians who weren’t there.
We already were a Nation and were doing just fine, the loss of many of the best of that generation to a European Empires dispute sure as hell didn’t help Canada at all.
After visiting Vimy,PM Trudeau will visit Juno Beach, where his Father Maj.Gen.Pierre Elliot Trudeau, DSO,DSC,VC, heroically led Canadian troops ashore and on to victory.
I often wonder if Justin feels any guilt over the whole Memorial thing, but as his Dad didn’t,he probably doesn’t either.
Wasn’t mentioned in Britain at the time? PM Lloyd-George was reported to have said that in Downing Street they felt the opening artillery barrage.
It was a significant battle, not primarily for the amount of ground gained, but for being a clear victory. It wasn’t won easily, nor was it cheap, but it was won decisively and previous failures by the British Army and the French had cost them each more casualties than the number of Canadian troops that participated in the successful operation. It is significant for the tactical and operational procedures the Canadian Corps employed and their achievement of surprise at the local level. Vimy Ridge was not what we call “vital ground” but rather “key terrain” and it was worth taking, even just to deny it to the enemy.

“Chrystia Freeland’s Family Record for Nazi War Profiteering, and Murder of the Cracow Jews”
“The records now being opened by the Polish government in Warsaw reveal that Freeland’s maternal grandfather Michael (Mikhailo) Chomiak was a Nazi collaborator from the beginning to the end of the war. He was given a powerful post, money, home and car by the German Army in Cracow, then the capital of the German administration of the Galician region. His principal job was editor in chief and publisher of a newspaper the Nazis created. His printing plant and other assets had been stolen from a Jewish newspaper publisher, who was then sent to die in the Belzec concentration camp.
During the German Army’s winning phase of the war, Chomiak celebrated in print the Wehrmacht’s “success” at killing thousands of US Army troops. As the German Army was forced into retreat by the Soviet counter-offensive, Chomiak was taken by the Germans to Vienna, where he continued to publish his Nazi propaganda, at the same time informing for the Germans on other Ukrainians. They included fellow Galician Stepan Bandera, whose racism against Russians Freeland has celebrated in print, and whom the current regime in Kiev has turned into a national hero.
Just before Vienna fell to the Soviet forces in March 1945, Chomiak evacuated with the German Army into Germany, ending up near Munich at Bad Worishofen. On September 2, 1946, when Freeland says her mother was born in a refugee camp, she was actually in a well-known spa resort for wealthy Bavarians.” http://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2017/01/27/chrystia-freeland-family-record-nazi-war-murder-cracow-jews.html
So what you are really trying to say is that Freeland’s grandfather was a Ukrainian hero? Right on.
Trudeau is missing this because he us going to New York to be involved in some sort of low level women’s round table. The big elephant in the room is that no one knows who really heads our government — clearly not Trudeau. If I were head of government I would be very interested in what Mulroney has to say about such an important issue. Not our boy. I find it odd that the media behaves as though having a cardboard cut out for PM is perfectly normal – very, very bizarre.

Muslim taxi drivers refusing to allow the guide dogs into their cars is a recurring theme, one to be followed here.”
“October 2000: Another taxi issue arose in Edmonton, Canada, when Khalid Habib Ahmad refused to allow Kelly Fair to take his guide dog into his cab, then claimed, without the necessary proof from an allergist to back him up, an allergy to dog hair. Ahmad also added that as a Muslim, taking a dog in his car conflicted with his religion. The case against Ahmad was dismissed because improperly filed.” http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2005/11/muslim-taxi-drivers-vs-seeing-eye-dogs

They got da liddle thief on the China file and Muldoon on the US file. Yeah he’s ready.
They were not “dragged” into it, that is the men who rushed to enlist. Our local artillery battery couldn’t get to Valcartier quick enough and never came back thinking Canada shouldn’t have been involved. Read all the letters that are available. Did they wish the war was over? Of course, they did. Being Canadians they wanted the job done and to hell with that trench warfare, but that wasn’t their decision.
I have done too much research on WWI for an old lady having co-authored a book about the men on our cenotaph and also a book of letters from the front. They knew the Kaiser had to be stopped just the same as they knew Hitler had to be stopped.
They were all nationalities, and granted 60% of the enlistments up to 1916 were English immigrants, all nationalities living in Canada supported the fight.

For sure it’s not Butts. Too much at stake to have a complete outsider take over the running of government. If there is one thing the libranos know it’s how to manage government. The money pit needs to be properly looked after if it is going to be allocated to the deserving.
Butts is bongo’s buddy. A guy to have around as a distraction when the heavy lifting becomes a bit too much …a place bongo can go and relax, maybe have a hoot or two and talk about where they are going for the weekend.
The real managing is not left to an outsider. You need somebody who knows the system. Knows where the skeletons are and who needs to be rewarded or punished. Sounds like a certain liddle guy doesn’t it?
Believe whatever globalist conspiracy theories you want.
Butts is the acting PM. JT is merely the electable figurehead; the face on the Lieberal brand. JT is the one who everyone loves, or loves to hate; that’s his only job. JT does not make PM level decisions like Harper or Mulroney did; Butts does that. Butts probably handles Wynnie too.
Oh, there’s no doubt that JC has his hand in it.
In any case, what difference does it make? There is nothing legal that can be done about the Lieberal Regime until the next election. That’s the fundamental flaw in the Canadian parliamentary system. There are no checks and balances to limit the dictatorial powers of a majority government. That’s why the Americans rebelled in 1776 and implemented a better system with features like impeachment and a two party system.

“Muslim Taxi Drivers vs. Seeing-Eye Dogs”
“Muslim lore has it that dogs, and especially their saliva, are impure, so pious Muslims often avoid the animals (though they are used for hunting, guarding, and guiding). In most circumstances, this repugnance does not present a problem in the West, but it can when seeing-eye dogs are involved, for they have legal rights of entry.
The case against Ahmad was dismissed because improperly filed.”

Bongo can’t be present when Mulroney address’ the librano caucus. The optics are horrible….and justifiably so.
I’m just recovering from a terrible bout of flu but I’d let out a scream if I had the energy. Here’s the best I can do:
THEY VOLUNTEERED!
Freeland has painted herself into a very difficult spot given the position she occupies. Lying (denying) her grandfathers Nazi sympathies (collaborations) is not the way to establish your chops in the diplomatic world.
If things get interesting and certain oxen gored we may hear from those who have some skin in this game…to be continued
Not only that, but we managed to declare war on Japan before the US. We were responding to the invasion of Hong Kong, where Canadian troops had been sent to shore up the defences.
no one knows who really heads our government
Oh really? People who pay attention know. Google “Gerald Michael Butts”
I don’t think it’s Butts. He just carries water for someone else — Soros? Chretien? Some globalist cabal? Butts is the manager, but he is not the boss.
we managed to declare war on Japan before the US.
“In the late evening of December 7, 1941, the Canadian Prime Minister, W. L. Mackenzie King, announced the Cabinet’s decision to declare war on Japan. The King approved Canada’s declaration of war in the following proclamation issued on December 8, 1941.”
