“Since the beginning of February, they were some of the best performing weeks in the history of the brand,” Abigail Klem, the president of the Ivanka Trump fashion brand, tells Refinery29 in an interview published Tuesday. “For several different retailers Ivanka Trump was a top performer online, and in some of the categories it was the [brand’s] best performance ever.”

Global economic rebound. The commentator thinks this takes away from Trump’s influence because it is happening elsewhere. My take is that Trump’s confidence is driving the whole world. In 2008 a US created recession brought down the world economy so why can’t a 2017 US boom drive the world economy.
I, for one, purchased a bottle of Ivanka Trump perfume from Amazon as a buycott of Nordstrom’s elimination of her products. I then gave the perfume a 5-star review and wrote a review indicating my boycott of Nordstrom, and support of the Trump brand. I took this action despite my general indifference to the Trump “brand”. I have NEVER, ever, purchased anything “Trump” prior to the Nordstrom action. As I have said here before, I find the Trump brand somewhat garish and of mediocre design quality. However, the perfume smells quite nice … light and floral … subtle and nice.
I was reading some comments about this on sites other than the one linked. The one I found amusing said something like: Liberals, maybe boycotts aren’t your thing. Better stick to activities you excel at like rioting, assault, voilently shutting down free speech at universities and destroying your own cities and local businesses during “peaceful” protests.
Personally, I’d suggest liberals and progressives stop politicizing every damn thing. How many people are just sick of all aspects of daily life and formerly fun activities: shopping, entertainment, sports, food and pretty much everything being a political or social justice issue. Total immersion in “wokeness” and outrage must be exhausting for them, especially if no one else gives a shit about it and/or thinks they’re idiots . Perhaps liberals and progressives need better focus and perspective. Right now they’re just annoying and obnoxious nags who never shut up and alienate sane, non-politically obsessed people. Businesses that cater to liberal pressure tactics deserve lower sales because they’re cowards.
It looks like boycotts by violent thugs, deadbeats and parasites just don’t have enough negative impact to offset the patronage of hard working, taxpaying law-abiding citizens. I expect there’s more than a few boardrooms right now where the topic on the agenda is, “How do we get ourselves boycotted by ‘progressives’?”.
A few years back I saw videoonline of a flash mob break out in a grocery store. The protest was to create awareness to boycott Sabra hummus. I had not paid much attention to hummus brands, but did when next I saw the brand at Costco, I gave it a try. It iis a wonderful product with lots of various products, and I am a loyal customer now. Next, as I travel in the US frequently, I never much paid attention to Chick Fil-A as a fast food option. After the Left called for a boycott of them, I decided to give them a try. It is now my go-to fast food option when I am down there. There actually is a service component in the restaurants after you place the order and get your food….it is quite refreshing. I heard that their sales went up 12% the first year after the boycott was called for. So, I am quite happy to see Ivanka’s brand do well in light of the “boycott”.
Even though I’m Canadian, I too wanted to stick it to the boycott, so I put Ivanka’s perfume in my cart at Amazon for a few days intending to purchase a DVD later. When I went to checkout, the perfume was sold out.
