Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Trump The Establishment
Oh gawd the Liberal Progressives are going to have a friggen BIRD over this!
Awwww … ohhh … how sweet. Now let’s limit ALL traffic in DC to horseback (“green”) ONLY. THAT might be the absolute FASTEST way to drain the swamp !
More reality tv…no cowboy would be caught dead using English tack. Probably posts as well…
Big advocate of public land for the parasites to use…
Looks like the horse and tack belong to the Parks Police. Wouldn’t a real cowboy ride whatever he can get and not care what anyone thinks of it?
No more than a real man would give up his nuts…
New Secretary of the Interior, ex-Navy Seal, hunter/fisher dressed in cowboy gear rides horse to work on his first day.
The legacy of President Teddy Roosevelt, an avid hunter and originator of wild area conservation and the national parks system in America, is in good hands.
I wonder if Trump has any clue that the US National Forests could sustainibly quadruple their annual timber harvests putting thousands of Americans to work while displacing Canadian lumber that they feel a need to impose duties on. I’ll bet this English Saddle bronc rider wouldn’t be up for that kind of battle.
Public lands (most of the west) in good hands for use by the parasites. The equivalent of Obama phones, it’s free…yay…
Perhaps a fellow can be a good Secretary of the Interior even if he isn’t good at dressing up in a cowboy costume. Time will tell.
If the federal government owning public land is such a good idea, why is it only applied to the 12 westernmost states. Washington bureaucrats are continually at war with loggers and ranchers. Sure parks are nice but most of 12 states worth?
Maybe someone should point out the fact that horses pollute. That being said, my Granny would salvage the donations from the milkman’s horse for the garden. Her runner beans went up to the top of the house – and the basement wasn’t that much below grade.

Why change now…he’s been at the public trough all his life.
If a conservative Republican does it, then is it still called virtue signalling, or is there a different term for the right?
No cowboy…funny you should say that; I once gave dressage lessons to a guy who used to work on a cattle ranch and do the local circuit in calf/steer roping.
And to plenty of barrel racers too.
Some of their horses were nice little lower level guys. Knew a guy who switched his reining horse over to three day event; went up to Intermediate level I believe (know they went Training).
A lot of horsemen are willing and capable of doing both.
And that was a Park Service horse, so Zinke was using the horse’s tack — which is English (although the saddle is more of a trail saddle than anything).
We used to call them drug store cowboys…and dressage came from the military. Not all that practical for a cowhorse. Just another reality show. I guess the dudes can’t tell the difference nowadays…

Having a tough day are we? Of course it’s the same. But then you knew that and were just trying for snark points.
When someone is the real deal then clearly it’s not virtue signaling is it? I’m pretty sure Zinke backs up what he does with real life accomplishments and is not ashamed to show his real lifestyle. He’s a westerner. He’s an outdoorsman. He rides horses. He’s not ashamed to show what he likes and how he’s going to view things.
Nowadays apparently it’s an accomplishment to feed at the public trough all your life.

I’m having a great day as always.
I couldn’t care less what sort of day you’re having, and I’m sure you can answer for yourself without asking me.
Actually, dressage came from the royal courts and was adapted later for the Olympics using more traditional cavalry breeds and ridden by military officers (which is what most of our Olympic equestrian teams were composed of for quite some time) — the military thing is a bit of a myth. Three day event came from the military (there is a dressage component, but not to the level of the Grand Prix dressage). Three day was never a sport for the faint of heart, so maybe that is manly enough even though it is in one of those English saddles.
And the “drugstore cowboys” I knew actually worked cattle…they just thought it might be fun to try something new and perhaps hone their riding skills (dressage, correctly done takes some work). At the lower levels any horse can do dressage or eventing if it is sound, but the rider has to become adept at riding to at least a certain degree. Those guys just wanted to see if they could do it; kudos to them for daring to try (and to a degree, accomplishing).
Sorry there to bust the image I guess.
