Oh no, theater can no longer push boundaries? No artistic license?
I thought that is what theatre did.

Have they NOT heard about the infamous play in NYC,”Hamilton”,where “persons of color” played all the roles as WHITE historical American figures?
Why do they bother?
So I suppose 400+ years ago William found a “man of colour” to play the part. I think not !!!!
This ‘I’m offended and the world will change to fit what I want’ generation has to be stopped before they totally destroy western civilization but when it is, and the Muzzies, Chinese or Russians take over what is left its unlikely that they’ll put up with this level of stupidity. What angers me even more is that the theatre company caved into this band of bullies and the actress even apologized for accepting the role.
Now we know another reason why socialists won power in Alberta & Edmonton because only reds have this level of arrogance and stupidity.

In Shakespeare’s day, all parts were played by white men. Costumes and makeup transformed the characters into their roles. The part of Othello the Moor was played by a white guy. The audience wasn’t so picky about cultural appropriation back in the day.

I am reading Ben Shapiro’s book Bullies. Its about the staggering impact the left is having on our society. We are seeing it live with the massive protests against anything Trump is doing. Shapiro’s point about us conservatives focusing on the individual while the left focuses on the collective gives them great strength and large numbers. As we state time and again this has been going on for decades since the 60’s in our classrooms. I think a lot of right wingers have given up the fight, and its a fight.
IHMO Bissonnette just grew tired of all the muslim atrocities in Europe and in Quebec and took out a few. This just plays into the hands of our politicians and will cause millions more muslims to come here. When the shiite hits the fan you can bet our lefties will bleat “What happened, why weren’t we protected.”
Porthos and Guinevere can be black, but Othello can’t be white or a woman. Sure, whatevs.
The current company at Stratford seems to be about 40% black/bengali, which is about quadruple that group’s representation in the general populace. The quality of their plays has also plummeted. I don’t think these two things are unrelated.
As we’re all the women’s parts also played by men or boys
Strikes me as cultural appropriation that anyone other than an old British fart would be allowed a role in one of Shakespeare’s plays. Weren’t even the female roles played by men?
But didn’t the theatre notes indicate the play was about transgendered white folks?

They even refuse to consider laying charges in case they may offend some idiot who now feels empowered thanks to their gutlessness. Wait until they have to deal with the type of situation that’s taking place in Sweden, where women are afraid to venture outside after dark.
