Canada is not the US.
Start with those two rather salient differences: this is not America, and he is not Trump. Canada has not gone through anything like the serial traumas that the United States has, from the Sept. 11 attacks to the Iraq war to the housing collapse to the financial crisis. We have no parallel to the illegal immigration problem that so divides and defines American politics.
And why didn’t Canada go through the same malaise as the US? Because we had a steady hand at the tiller who knew what he was doing. Lord help us now if Canada is hit with another recession under the new watch.
Reminder, the French debate is tonight. Watch for it on CPAC. A debate where the non-francophones will be making fools of themselves with the exception of one who still hasn’t thrown his hat into the ring. Pride and cowardice come in many different wallets.

A look at the facts will reveal that from 2009 to 2014, the Canadian federal budget expenditures did not significantly in absolute dollars (about 280 billion every year, give or take a few), a record of fiscal prudence unmatched in both the Western world, and in contemporary Canadian history.
Give Harper credit where due. I would also point out that the Treasury Board President during most of this time, Tony Clement, and of course Jim Flaherty, deserve much of the credit too.
You know, painting any Conservative candidate as a wannabe Trump could actually be tricky right now for the Liberals.
Since they’re the governing party and have to manage our relationship with a Trump-led US, they probably can’t really afford to be seen too openly denouncing Tory candidates as Canadian Trumps. After all, what message would that be sending to the Americans about our Dear Leader’s opinion of their administration?

I disagree old white guy. One of the reasons I am a conservative is that unlike liberals,
we can grasp the concept of complex dynamics. My first realization that I was a conservative
came when I read a single paragraph by Milton Friedman on price=information. The same goes
for the global warming debate. I do not think that the proponents of this flawed theory
can even name all the individual variables on this subject of unimaginable complexity.
I began to develop a theory around the same time BJ Billy Clinton was first elected. Just
like global warming and economics, actions have consequences. The ripples that result from
socializing medicine, increasing taxes, etc., will grow to the point that the people will
rebel at the ballot box. We are not as far down the rabbit hole as Europe, but I made a
prediction a long time ago that importing hundreds of thousands of potential Muslim terrorists
and economy crushing tax levels would lead to push back by the electorate.
My prediction was that the Muslim invasion of Europe would lead to the rise of conservative/
nationalist/populist political movements. I specifically stated that Europe would see the
rise of TEA Party populism in the near future. Then came UKIP, Geert Wilders, Sons Of Odin,
Pegida, etc. When the crap hits the fan, when the sons and daughters of European nations
start dying in mass terror attacks, even if their leaders are paralyzed by political correctness,
the people will grab the torches and pitchforks. They will empty their parliaments of the
pusillanimous pussies the moment the threats become existential.
The two countries to look out for are Germany and France (Yes, France!) They both know a thing or
two about mob violence. The ghettos will burn and the only thing the authorities can do is start
roasting marshmellows! Every Norwegian will be a Max Manus, every Finn a Simo Hayha, every Mick
a Paddy Mayne, every Scot a William Wallace, Every Brit a John Churchill, etc.
We Americans and Canadians can afford to kick back for a few more years, what just happened here
in America is evidence that the people will eventually rebel against the radical left. If Canadians
all think woe is us, we are screwed, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. We weathered 8 years of
of a neo-Stalinist communist radical. I think Canada will survive the pussy Justin Trudeau!
A lot of our leaders may have misplaced their balls, but we are still a part of the greatest culture
the Earth has ever known!
