  1. Pretentious “virtue signalling” is the real issue. Driving cars like the Prius or Tesla, shopping at Whole Foods, eco-stickers, etc… are all just examples of the real problem with leftards.
As for “Pretentious virtue signalling”, someone with a lifted and tricked-out diesel 3/4ton truck who has the IP adjusted for “rolling coal” is doing exactly the same thing, only signalling different virtues.

  2. Just did the Google map thing. It is about 150 KLM from Calgary to Ft. Macleod. About 130 from Okotoks to Ft. Macleod. And then as Foobert said, then what? What was the range on these things anyway?

  3. My wife points out that with a conversion kit these charging stations might be used as electrocution stations, to keep the number of moonbats down.

  4. Well those charging stations do have a similar appearance to medieval stocks and with a few slight modifications we could easily replicate what our hard-hearted ancestors did to people who committed public foolishness; only problem being 8 is hardly enough.

  5. I want your wife next to me at the barricades ! Has she ever handled a 1911 ? Hard to beat in close combat … excellent knock-down and stay-down power … if you handle the kick

    See here:
    https://www.tesla.com/en_CA/supercharger
Superchargers consist of multiple chargers working in parallel to deliver up to 120 kW of power directly to the battery.
As others have noted, there are diff classes of chargers. The Supercharger in FM is dedicated to Tesla only.
I looked at my photos again. It seems as though an owner has to phone Tesla to get it turned on.

  7. I haven’t seen any details on how the TurdoTax rebate will be disbursed. The GST rebate is established through tax returns, so only tax-filers are eligible.
Single people making more than $51,500, and couples making more than $100,000 get N0 TurdoTax rebate according to the Alberta rates.

  8. There is a LOT of misinformation going around in these comments.
    – Tesla bought and paid for these stations by themselves. No government money was used.
    – Tesla is leasing this space from a local business owner
    – They are free to use for all current Model S & X owners.
    – In the future, they will be used by Tesla Model S & X & 3 owners, but with a cost.
    – They only activate and charge when they authenticate with the car to determine if it’s safe and if the car owner has paid for that privilege.
    – The Voltage is up to 400V and around 300A
    – The Tesla Charging network is for LONG DISTANCE driving, as almost all car owners charge up at home. So where do they go from here? https://www.tesla.com/findus#/bounds/?search=supercharger,destination%20charger
    – Tesla is building their charger network before they’re needed. If they didn’t, all you crazies would be complaining that electric cars are stupid because there’s nowhere to charge.
    – AB electricity generation is mostly fossil fuel based, but it’s getting greener every year. That means that electric cars get greener every year.
    – Tesla cars have battery warmers. You can also preheat your car so when you come back to it, it’s warm, and the battery is warm and ready for a drive.
    – You can’t just plug it into “Ski-Doo trailer with a whole whack of batteries”. Do some research before making unintelligent comments.
    – Nuclear should be used in Alberta. We don’t have a good baseload of green power. Especially in the winter when solar would be practically useless.
    – The Fort Macleod charger is already being used on a regular basis, and when the Montana Supercharger stations finally get built, Tesla owners from all over North America will be able to travel THROUGH our province. It takes time.
    – Tesla could very well be contracting a lot of wind power to power these stations, so these chargers could very well for all intents and purposes be 100% green.
    – Long term TCO for a long range electric car could very well be better than a high-end gas sedan. At around $0.02 per km, you do the math.
