The media loves nothing more than to stir up controversy for ratings and clicks. As expected, almost every mainstream news outlet seized the opportunity to make a mountain out of a mole hill and to fan the flames of resentment. What I didn’t expect (but probably should have), was the reactions of fellow small and big C conservatives. Rather than defend the protesters, or stay silent, they shot their mouths off and rode their high horses straight into the battle.
Good point,but it would take a Court battle to decide if a carbon tax actually IS a sale tax.
I can see lawyers fighting this one out for months,while the government imposes the carbon tax promising to refund it if they lose the Court battle.
Someone with lots of money has to initiate the lawsuit,though,and it doesn’t seem like anyone,Opposition politicians or bribed oil companies want to challenge the carbon tax.
Your MLA should be asked why the Opposition hasn’t initiated a Court challenge.

I think what we are seeing here is the Canadian media reacting against the Trump phenomenon by taking it out on our pathetic excuse for conservatism and kicking them when they are down. The Canadian media destroyed Harper’s government of centrists and feel empowered as they should, as the guardians of the Canadian LPC state. Alberta has two happy-faced socialist parties and one dour-faced socialist party that is now in power. Given the lack of libertarian and even conservative ideology in the culture, uniting those two non-NDP electorates under a single Party with any name will at least keep the war on prosperity, sophomoric, union-label, green theocrats out of power.

Candidates for leadership of the Conservative Party are being examined for their ability to support common sense conservative principles and sadly, the handling of the ‘lock her up’ chants at the recent rally in Calgary by candidates Bernier, Chong, Scheer and Alexander as well as party apparatchiks such as Rona Ambrose, left much to be desired.
Not only did you not support the thousands of Albertans who turned out, many of you attacked not only them but other candidates.
What is wrong with you people? Why do your turn your guns inward to confirm the worst prejudice projected by the mainstream media? Why do you not use such opportunities to our advantage by putting the media on the defensive? Why not reply to media by saying, “What is wrong with you people? Grow up. A brief chant by regular, working Joes and Janes that was clearly meant to show their dissatisfaction with premier Notley’s carbon tax plans are being taken literally by a press with an agenda which you are clearly demonstrating today. These are smart, remarkably sensible family people who understand the difference between illegal and wrong. Notley’s policies are not illegal, but they’re certainly wrong and these folks were saying so.
We support them in doing so “

Thank you Ezra for your passionate speech in favour of those fellow Canadians. I believe that Notley and Trudeau are just implementing the next stage of Agenda 21. Human life and our Canadian way of life have no place in their plans for this country and the whole human race.
The Conservative Party just called me and asked for some money. Normally I send them a bit every now and then. I said not this time, and I cited among other things Ambrose’s arrogant response to the innocent rally chant.

I wouldn’t give any of the candidates running for the leadership of the CPC a dime. Make no mistake about it Kellie Leitch is as red a tory as there is. Have you ever met a medical doctor that wasn’t a socialist?
Unless spud falls on his face (which could happen) none of the CPC bunch will be able to hold onto the seats they have now.
It’s not a surprise that politicians and the media behave that way.
I just think that readdressing that fact over and over is reaching its limit.
Those politicians got elected by voters, they can’t do what they do without votes.
