    The first thing I’d do if I was not telling the truth on government immigration papers, is buy my Liberal Party of Canada membership.
    Perhaps this ploy works for taxpayers as well?

  2. Expect nothing will be done about this, Monsef will remain in the Cabinet post. Too bad we don’t have an opposition pounding on this forcing her to at least step down pending a full investigation of the whole clear as mud affair. If we had a media that cared more about the country than they do about their Liberals this would be front page news, they’d seek out McCallum and Goodale, top Toady to the PM and never give them a break on the mess until they get answers.

Thinking that legal status during immigration should have bearing on a Liberal’s current standing is like saying that party affiliation shouldn’t be looked at while determining where someone is in the queues the receive health care: of course it shouldn’t, but this is the real world so we all know how it will turn out. There’s a reason they’re in power: to use that power for their own good.
    Trump had a good question for Hillary on Sunday about this – how did she become a multi-millionaire on a public servant’s salary?

    So, if a Liberal insider does it, it’s not wrong.

  6. Agreed the silence from Rona Ambrose on this file is deafening; I expect the media (outside The Sun) not to care in the slightest, but the Official Opposition should. Unless they believe Monsef is so weak that they prefer her to be managing the vote counting file. I don’t really believe this, Im’m more inclined to think they are determined not to be accused of any name Liberals will call them anyway.
    The file Monsef is running is so important that were it to succeed there may never be another Conservative government. Having been handed an opportunity by an opportunistic cabinet selection process, they should exploit it to the full. In short, Monsef’s main reason for being selected, turns out to be false.
    The leadership contest is a distraction, but in the meantime Canadians desperately need some rigorous criticism of the vote changing scheme. The media to a very large extent is on board, the Liberal run consultation meetings report a majority endorsing “change”. We are not getting that criticism from the current leadership.

We can’t overlook the fact the media is also focusing on the US election, anything they can use to detract from issues affecting. or which could affect us directly, like changing our voting system gets their attention. The Trump/Clinton circus should not be used to deflect from our own serious issues, but it is.
    Canadians need to wake up. I will not donate to any political party that cannot fight hard against an issue such as the one we have with the Monsef and her family. It appears if you are a Liberal your citizenship is assured even when rules are broken. I’d like to hear McCallum explain that YESTERDAY!

  8. How about a headline reading “Do we have an illegal immigrant sitting as Cabinet Minister on Democratic Reform in our House of Commons?” Would this stir up any concern or brushed off?
    If the Liberals don’t address it we can only assume a different set of rules for certain people of their choosing.KENT

  11. Something else to consider: since our Dear Leader has proclaimed us to be the world’s first “post-national” state, why exactly do we even need a citizenship minister?

  12. Liberals and the official “oposition” are betraying Canadians in choosing to look the other way when a law has been broken. If the Opposition is not going to press the issue, why should the Liberals do anything at all? If Ambrose decided not to press the issue she should be removed. The issue is not about Monsef. It is about ignoring and thereby trivializing our laws.
    We should not ignore that Monsef’s success comes because she is a female Muslim immigrant. This may be a set back for her, but the gracious thing to do (showing respect for our laws) is to resign until things are cleared up. She will have other opportunities. Otherwise this looks like preferential treatment and it is a black mark for Monsef, The Liberals and Ambrose.

  13. the peterborough examiner reported today that Monseff is working on changing her passport to reflect her true birthplace. It appears the liberals will sweep this under the rug with full support of the main steam media. Is there an honest lawyer out who will take this on pro bono?
