Interesting Lance. The murders committed across the country and outright genocide brought to northern England by the Normans, are glossed over in history, if history is taught at all. Because the Normans kept their base of interest in France, post-invasion England found herself more directly involved in European conflicts.
Invasions have consequences beyond being forced to learn the conquerors language.
With the serious issues around the globe and the how our countries are being managed on both sides of the border from health care and on to immigration and security what do we have? In the US we have wall to wall jackasses in the media and debate moderators talking about anything but. It’s all about national inquirer type banter about what Trump said fished from over a decade ago and threats of countering with Bill Clinton’s well known sleazy behaviour while sitting in the Oval Office. Sad to say where this will end but it can’t be good for the country we call the leader of the free world.
We are not home free here, we have a weak leader who himself needs to be led. We have corruption in the Ontario government, badly in debt and still spending. We all need to wake up and stop being led by agenda driven media and pollsters who ultimately are interfering with our democratic process. People are taking their information and basing their decisions on it.
The election success of Turdeau and the apparent failures of Sanders and Trump are not validations of their political positions as much as the deep disquiet in the middle class. These people are starting to actually question their governments ability to led or in essence save them.
Since Canada is already a left wing monopoly (the Harper years were so disappointing) my biggest concern is the implosion of the GOP. I have kept waiting for a glimmer of a Trump ‘strategy’ when in effect there is none. The guy is a blowhard with little understanding of the real issues. The ‘middle class disquiet’ has simply carried him along. If only Mitt Romney had a tad of the aggressiveness that Trump has he would have been POTUS. Certainly the most qualified candidate in decades. Why people like Romney and Harper cannot explain conservative thought to the masses is a critical failure. The CPC in Canada is crumbling just as the GOP is/will in the USA.
Clinton will be elected and heaven help the world.
