Canada’s employment market caved in July, unexpectedly losing tens of thousands of jobs — most on them full-time positions, with Ontario taking the brunt of the declines — and pushing the jobless rate higher.
“Unexpectedly”
Most forecasters had expected job growth to resume last month after a small loss in June, which would have continued the recent sea-saw labour pattern.
These would be the same forecasters that assure us a Carbon Dioxide tax won’t hurt the economy at all.
#CanadaIsBack, eh.

I heard Ralph Goodale on John Gormley this morning . Apperantly the carbon tax will end floods , wildfires and give the provincial government the option of eliminating Provincial income tax. They should probably double it and eliminate federal income tax too . You , like how the Liberals eliminated the GST. Why is it every day someone has to prove there is no limits on stupidity .
Poor libranos running out of other people’s money again.
Who would have thought that the difference between employment an public sector employment is akin to the difference between a chair and an electric chair?
CBC is quick out of the gate for September, happy days are here again, the beginning of the school year having nothing to do with it:
We are not in a recession, we are not in a recession.
“Canada added 67,000 jobs in September. Jobless rate stays steady at 7%.”
Most of the new jobs were part time, the data agency said. There were 44,100 part-time jobs while full-time jobs were up 23,000. Self-employment surged by 50,100.”
Thank God the self-employed are creating jobs for themselves.

So the Libs are going to prevent lightening strikes, which are a major determinant of forest and wild fires? Where were these guys when Hurricane Hazel struck T.O. back in the early 50s? Major floods.
These guys should watch the 1956 Bert Lancaster movie “The Rainmaker, where a fake rainmaker (Trudeau) melts the heart of a Kansas spinster(McKenna) while trying to save the town”s crops (the world).
They would see just how stupid and arrogant they really are!
I would suggest the figure they are quoting for September is very suspect . The U. S. Jobs figures for Missed forecasts at 156,000 vas 176000 expected. They have 10 times the population. 67,200 for Canada doesn’t pass the smell test to me. Especially when our largest trading partners figures are weaker than expected .
Sorry , should be missed for September , and vrs. August also missed .
Maybe they figure that the only real employment figures that matter are the jobs that they give to their buddies, like Red Rachel does with the government workers.
My advice to everyone; if you see a person stuck in a blizzard, only stop to help if you know them personally. You would not want to accidentally save the lives of anyone who had ever voted NDP or Liberal, or gave cash to the Castros by vacationing in Cuba…
Thinking along the same lines.
It’s been long since I believed a government statistic.
It is pretty difficult to believe that Ralph actually is dumb enough to believe the utter baloney he was spewing. No doubt he also believed the experts in the early 70s when they said, among other dire predictions, that New York City was going to be under ice by the year 2000.
