  1. “If this story is true..”
No shit, it was done by politico which has been an open Hillary supporter, so it is predictably slanted to make Trump look the fool. I suspect, lance, that was the very reason it appealed to you.
I don’t know about you, but my entire lifetime I have heard people almost beg to have a political candidate who spoke their mind openly without every word being measured by it’s impact on their “glorious” party’s fortunes. Now we FINALLY have one, and lo and behold, people line up to whine like little bitches because he ISN’T a greasy slick politician. You can’t have it both friggin’ ways, folks!
The current political landscape is piled high with the corpses of those who were stupid enough to underestimate Trump. I predict that pile is just going to continue to get bigger.

  2. Clearly your comment earns a chevron.
    Deplorable Canadian Observer of Deplorables.
    😉

  3. Well said. Politico? That is like getting an unbiased opinion from Pravda.
Personally, I don’t care if Trump is unpolished or any of the other denigration epithets thrown at him. The American people have been screwed over by the establishment of both parties big time, as we have been here in Canada, and if he can turn it upside down in a free market way then all the power to him. Because if he or someone like him does not do then the US will continue to slide into a socialist globalist abyss like we are.

  4. Talking heads, opinion pieces, nonsense pretending to be wisdom….. there is no actual news or fact being presented. Most people have tuned out at this point. No one’s mind is going to be changed. Unless you’re a political junkie who gets a high from arguing about some obscure article, then this is BORING, BORING, BORING.
In actual interesting news…. which got very little coverage….:

  5. If it’s in the MSM I automatically assume it’s not true. MSM has nothing to do with news, facts or accuracy they are strictly a propaganda machine.

  6. Politico is a leftist-pinko web site. It is a pro-Democrat swamp started by Washington Post journos. Don’t trust anything on their site.

  7. Someone should inform poor Lance that Politco is just another propaganda spout belonging to the war-mongering Globalist supremacists and that everything they write, say, or do is to advance their interests.

  8. So the NYT and NPR and CNN say the hate the GOP, and whomever the GOP picks to run. Anyone know where I can find a site that has real news? You know, things I don’t already know?
Captcha suxs. This is the last time I am even going to try.

  9. Americans have historically been well served by previous politicians skilled at the artistry of debate. That is why they all currently seem so content and happy with the status quo.

  10. Lance, the link is from Politico, and you expect us to take that post seriously?
Everyone knows that when Hillary says she is “preparing”, what that really means is that she is rehearsing gotcha line after gotcha line to use against Trump. She only cares about winning to get what feels she is *entitled* to.
The last thing on earth I could care about is a rehearsed politician. They are the very ones who are busy destroying the West.
If you take the time to read Trump’s policy statements, most of them are pretty darn good. Like this one on the leftist, Marxist, economy-killing Paris Accord:
    https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-releases/trump-campaign-statement-on-paris-climate-accord
I have met businessmen cut from similar cloth to Trump in my life, and they are all doers. They get things done. They have zero patience for nonsense. Trump cannot be bothered to waste time preparing to lie to people for 90 minutes like Hillary is currently doing. That sort of immoral nonsense is beneath him.
What were we always taught as children? Don’t judge a book by its cover.
Also, ask yourself this: if Hillary is so damned brilliant, and has such a wealth of experience, what does she need to prepare for? She should be perfectly able to debate on the spot, no? Well she cannot, because she is a hollow person inside. So she spends her time rehearsing how to trap Trump, knowing that the biased media will give her plenty of opportunity to do so.
Trump is refreshing, and will be a refreshing President. If our friends to the south are too unwise to see that, and too lazy to actually read his policy statements, well then goodbye USA it is.

  11. I guess we could all bash Lance for pointing out the obvious. The point of the debate for the candidate is to convince Undecideds that you can be their President. Trump’s failing to do that, and he’s going to lose if he doesn’t change his ways. Or maybe that first debate already sealed it — people don’t vote for somebody they perceive as an a-hole.
Cue the braying on how the biased MSM has made it all so…

  12. You can attack Lance all you want but Trumps performance last time was abismal. He was not prepared in the least. I’m sitting on my couch yelling at the screen for him to bring up this or bring up that.
His syncophats can make excuses for him all day but in the end it doesn’t matter about any of that. He must present himself as one who can lead the country as well as demonstrate Hillary can not.
Last time he failed. Better put a little work into this one.

  13. Lol. I checked the comments to see lance take a beating. Wasn’t disappointed. Lol… He must love it…?

  14. If you seriously think the MSM isn’t bigoted and biased then you must believe a lot of incorrect, and very stupid, things.

  15. It is depressing that in the West we have developed a culture that relishes placing unreasonable demands on the better political candidates, while giving the losers a pass.
I understand the desire to have Trump perform better in the debates. But just look at what happened to Harper, there was an all out mob assault on him, and what exactly did he do that was so terribly wrong? Harper could have put in a stellar debate performance and it would not have made a scintilla of a difference. It is no different really than what is happening to Trump, and he knows the system is heavily gamed against him.
I am beginning to understand why empires fall….we prefer polished losers to unpolished saviors.

  16. As it is, Trump is a New Yorker.
He comes across as a smart ass street fighter, somewhat refined by the company he keeps.
He is not a saint, all knowing, all seeing and for the most part he does not pretend to be. Like he said “as a businessman, you have to give (a bribe) to the politicians to get things done”.
This is the way things run anywhere and everywhere in South America, they call them banana republics, no different from the more sophisticated bribers and takers in the US.
The primaries, as perhaps everyone that is interested, knows are over, the candidates are decided. This is where you gotta start.
Today, you have a choice, Clinton, which is more or less a crime syndicate that is scamming and scheming how to scam just about anybody that has some big cash, usually rich socialist aristocrats.
Trump on the other hand is not beholden to no one as it appears now. You will notice that he can hit even his supporter, it does not necessarily mean that that was his intention, it just comes out that way.
One suspect that he got where he is in the business being exactly a nice guy as it is with all businessmen. You got to fight with just about everyone to get things done, sometimes there is a collateral damage.
In the primaries debates, he basically demolished Bush. It could be said that even those that are not fans of Trump, kind of looked the other way and nodded in approval.
So, now you go with Clinton or you go with Trump.
In the first case there were no opponents worth mentioning.
In the second case there were some superior quality opponents though they are off for now.

  17. Interestingly, quite a few undecideds moved in Trump’s direction after the last debate. Most people are not looking for rational arguments, but checking their gut reactions. Hillary comes across as a robot. She is cold and calculating. Trump did not do awful in the last debates — especially given the imbalanced moderating. Trump supporters are not favoring Trump based on debate performance.

  18. Trump is being criticized for his debate performance — and not only by Politico — not because he’s telling it like it is but because he gave an incompetent performance. He should have crucified Hillary on all sorts of topics, but he let one opportunity after another slip by. Cyber security? Benghazi? Obamacare? It should have been like shooting fish in a barrel, but the Donald (as the writer for Politico pointed out) was too busy explaining leverage in his businesses. He was doing well with the topic of her emails, but then he stupidly abandoned the topic.
LindaL can say that “Trump supporters are not favoring Trump based on debate performance,” but Trump doesn’t have to perform well at debates to persuade his supporters — he already has their votes. He needs to persuade others, but polls in the last week show that he drove many of them away. He needs to do much better Sunday; otherwise he’ll be handing the election to Hillary, as terrible as that sounds. The worst of it is that it should have been easy.

  19. Maybe Trumps own poll numbers show him he’s ahead. Why change?
There is panic in the clinton camp. One more mistake and zzzzzzzz.

  20. One has to question how much debates really matter. The Canadian debates showed Jr to be the irritable, yapping, adolescent twerp he really is, and he won a landslide election anyway.
I hesitate to comment too much on the US election as obviously I have no dog in the race. I am willing to leave it to the +300m voters to make their choice and I can live with whoever they choose. Were that our media were as calm about the outcome.
As for Trump, I concede he probably would be bad for Canada, in that he would aggressively deal with trade disputes, softwood lumber eg, and a tougher border, the TPP would be a non starter, but it is anyway even under Clinton.
But, commentators who lament how bad he would be miss the important point that he could only affect us indirectly. Justin Trudeau is infinitely more “bad” than any outside politician could ever be, and he enjoys a love in with the same commentators. Jr is the one planning to revamp out voting procedures, or committing us to draconian carbon taxes and AGW schemes. As well there are many other plans he hasn’t yet been told about.
Trump’s position on the Paris accord is a refreshing example of a realistic view of AGW. As President his actions 180 opposed to Liberals, would make Jr’s plans look even more foolish, if that were possible.

  21. Actually, Lance is just being realistic. You strike me as someone who believes the old mantra “the only poll that matters is the one on election day”, but Lance knows that the big poll aggregators have this down to a science and that Trump is getting destroyed at the moment. You’re letting your bias completely blind you to what’s currently happening.

  22. The best after debate reference to Trump I heard is that he’s like Roger Rabbit.
Judge Doom does “shave and a hair cut” and he can’t help but bust out and shout “Two Bits”
    He’s easily distracted and baited.
I don’t envy the Yanks next month.
A business man with the demeanour of a 12 year old ADHD kid off his meds or a lying, conniving, ruthless self-important, entitled megalomaniac.
    Make your choice America.
You may not survive either way.

  23. Mike Pence showed the difference between an experienced debater and Donald Trump.
Oh but the formant is different – sure 2 demoderators who get to pick the questions asked of each candidate. IOW different debate same fix.
Oh, maybe they’ll be “fair” this time. No they won’t, they will never take the slightest chance of giving Trump any momentum whatsoever.
He will have to take over the meeting, engaging the audience directly, and thus the country. To do it one has to be tough, but keep the anger out.
Disgust is OK, anger is not. Retort. Pivot to real issue. Speak to it from your vision, which is to change the direction of America, away from stagnation.
Attack her honesty. Attack her judgment. Attack her record. Do it by convincing the audience, not the demoderators, and thus the country.
If he does that he could rip this thing open. I just don’t think he will. She’ll talk over him, with the demoderators never letting Donald finish a point.

  24. Kids in the front row believe that preparation, doing your homework, is critical to success. And, by and large, they are right all things being equal. Hilly and the people at Politico have been front row kids all their lives. It is impossible for them to imagine that a kid in the back row can come close, much less win, without doing all the prep they have been doing since kindergarten.
Trump may do a bit better this debate. He did well for the first third of the last debate and it was hard work for the media to make Hilly look like a big winner. What is not obvious is whether it will matter. No matter how well Trump does the media will say he lost and Hilly was a big winner. For Trump the election comes down to making it a referendum on the current American political/media class. Scoring debating points might move that needle but there is little chance those points will be accurately reported.
The kids in the back row become successful, win, because they play a different game from the front row kids. They take bigger risks. They don’t suck up to teacher and they have fun along the way. To the appalled shock of the front row kids, Trump seems to have blown off his homework and seems to be having a blast.

  26. Yes.
If this above story is true, that is something Obama would do.
It’s also something that voters don’t care about because they voted for lazy Obama. This is why even if Trumps wins (and it looks like he will), the political climate that ignores Obama and Clinton’s evil will still be present and Trump will have achieved very little.
    Culture matters, even voter culture.
Change the culture that ignores what a crook Hillary is.

  27. Trump does not owe anyone anything at this point. Against monumental odds he has brought the horse to the water and if the horse is not wise enough to drink it is not Trump’s problem to solve. One man can only do so much against such an onslaught.
I find these “Trump must do better” arguments petty.
    Voters need to do better.

  29. yup, President Trump goes and talks to Vald the impaler Pooteen, so the Vald sends Trump all the questions that Vald may ask, just so Trump can practice first!!Got cha!

  30. http://www.macleans.ca/politics/ottawa/ranking-canadas-best-and-worst-prime-ministers/
In the same vein as the article at Politico, Macleans rates the best and worst Canadian Prime Ministers, and while Justin wasn’t rated the best,he was WAY ahead of The Awful Harper.
I commented that if Macleans had any integrity,JT wouldn’t even be mentioned in the article after being in Office less than a year.
I asked, if they were going to do an article on the greatest hockey players ever, would they include Connor McDavid and Auston Mathews.
I doubt the comment will be posted.

  31. “This is why even if Trumps wins (and it looks like he will) …”
Reference please. Two weeks ago Trump’s chances looked rather good, and improving by the day. Since then, the forecast has dimmed. So if you’ve seen hard evidence that I haven’t, let me in on it. Please don’t tell me that it’s a gut feeling.

  32. As a Conservative I am shocked how the GOP could have elected Donald Trump as the Presidential Candidate.
He will be the first GOP Candidate to embrace the Evil Empire of Vladimir Putin. Paul Manafort was the tip of the iceberg of a den of Pro-Russian advisors. Others include Carter Page, Lt. General Michael Flynn, Richard Burt, Borys Epshtein, Roger Stone (who is connected to Julian Assange who is connected to Russian Security Services), various Russian American Mobsters, various Russian Oligarchs and others. Trump is a major security Risk and infinitely unqualified to address the major problems facing the USA from internal & external issues. I used to think President Obama was Neville Chamberlain, but Trump will fit the profile even better. Trump is no Ronald Reagan or Winston Churchill.
I am also frightened by his basic lack of knowledge of the world (never-mind Policy & how the American Governmental system works — he definitely needs Civics 101 for Dummies). If he thinks he can negotiate with Russia, he is a bigger fool than President Obama & Obama’s National Security Team & West Wing which created many of the problems by creating a vacuum.
Trump’s disdain for NATO is appalling and will encourage Putin’s aggression even more should he be elected.
The GOP made a big mistake by electing this lazy, arrogant, ignorant, and narcissistic sociopath as the Presidential Candidate. If he gets elected will damage the party for the next 20 years. I have no doubt he is not prepping because he has the demeanor of a two year old who refuses to listen to it’s parents.
Hillary is not much better but at least sane and may listen to reason when it comes to the Pentagon & State Department.
All I can say is that in a country of 350 million people this is the best two major party candidates they could come up with?
I just keep on thinking of that Sci-Fi/Comedy Movie Idiocracy — instead of 500 years in the future it is on the verge of happening now. :O

  33. ya its a science that’s why those same pollsters said trump wasn’t going to be nominated.

  34. Notwithstanding your delusional Russian connections:
Trump is a rational businessman for whom only the most ardent establishment kool aid drinkers believe is a greater threat to national security than Hillary.
Trump’s “disdain” for NATO is it doesn’t pay it’s way and is becoming an ineffective force, more interested in peacekeeping larks.
Your childish remarks about his demeanour are well, childish.
What makes you such a genius on the topic of quality of leadership? Then again you seem good at hurling insults, so Dem is the best fit for you.
You should go back to your Sci-Fi fiction, the reality of life isn’t computing for you.

  35. A lot of whistling past the graveyard going on here. Face it, Trump had better get his crap together for the next debate or he’s probably going down.

  36. I see Gerry, so Clinton is a better choice then is she? A career politician like the rest of them, and where have those career politicians gotten us?
This is thing I simply fail to understand. People on this blog rail (quite correctly) against political correctness, government waste, the global warming fraud, and so forth, and their man finally shows up and all they can do is criticize him.

  37. I so hope Trump will win the presidency. Not only it will mean that Hitlery lost but as a bonus we will get to watch Trumpets struggle with cognitive dissonance for four years, it will be priceless.

  38. “Like he said “as a businessman, you have to give (a bribe) to the politicians to get things done”.” LEV
Your understanding of America is seriously lacking…Most Americans give Time & Money to a Major party because they want to have their constitutional rights respected….The party that holds local power controls Jobs in construction /Roads etc. It is not Bribery in the criminal sense.
In South NJ it is a Democrat strong hold, if you were a Republican you would be pushing uphill….The general public vote Democrat because they are not disadvantaged, a coin flip will favor them… It is not a bribe!.
That is why it is so hard to sway votes and how driving Negative opinion works Best…
    On Topic:
Trump must not pull his punches, after Hillary blind sided him at the End of the last debate. Everything is fair game… I would hope He will start with the lies by HER Miss Universe..People need to hear the continuation of that failed agenda
    2. He needs to make her “own” OPEN Borders… Pence was perfect when he said that Border Agents & ICE would enforce immigration LAW… The poor little Kaine had nowhere to go except Open Borders
    3. He needs to make her PICK between Climate Change and Global warming.. They are not the same & any policy argument must be focused such that both sides are speaking about the same thing.
    4. Why she is so proud of her 11 hour testimony before Congress, she was under oath and lied about the circumstance of 4 dead Americans…Laughing Hillary only sells to the Charlie Manson fans.
    5. Law & Order….equal law for all Americans..Unlimited
6 Pence made the case that “Strength” is the only American quality that Putin will respect.
    JMHO

  39. WOW shamrock I gather you never watched all the primary debates and comments Trump made along the line thru his twitter account. Does Spock have a beard in the universe you live in? The Russian connections of Trump do exist — they may not be Putinites but have ulterior motives as they are financially connected.
Carter Page has a huge stake in Gazprom and has penned many articles that NATO is obsolete and no longer serves a purpose. This is public record.
Paul Manifort was a consultant who resurrected Yanukovych from somebody who attempted to steal an election in Ukraine to getting him elected as President of Ukraine in 2010 — Yanukovych was always a Putin stooge and was well funded by Putin thus funding Manifort. Manifort also was involved in blocking Ukraine’s attempt to have a joint naval exercise in Crimea 10 years ago — a Russian sore point.
As an aside prior to the GOP conevntion, Trump’s people removed a clause from the GOP platform to supply Ukraine with lethal weaponry to defend itself against Russia. Specifically J.D. Gordon a Trump campaign team member.
Richard Burt is a paid lobbyist for NordStream II project which is to hook the EU more on Russian gas (which Russia uses gas supply as a weapon) and he also was a major contributor to Trump’s foreign policy speech.
Lt General Michael Flynn after being terminated as running the DIA (Defence Intelligence Agency) took on a job as a paid commentator for Russia Today — a known Russian propaganda outlet. Did not happen to help him when he attended the 10th anniversary banquet in Moscow in December 2015 and sat to the right hand side of Putin. (as an aside Dr Steain of the Green Party was also at the same table and gave video statements that Russia was a great supporter of human rights 🙂 ) As a former head of the DIA he should have known better.
Boris Epshtein was a vehicle to bring together Russian Oligarchs & American Businesses in a conference with Moscow’s mayor. Very staunch supporter of Trump and Russia as a great place to do business. :O
Roger Stone proudly proclaimed he was in regular contact with Julian Assange (caught on video and his own twitter account) who is known to have connections to Guccifer 2.0 which has been established is working with Russian Security Services.
All these are not creations of “Liberal Media” but are visible in videos where the individuals in questions proclaim their viewpoints — WOW buiry you head in the sand deeper and sing La La La La lounder as you are not willing to smell the coffee.
After Trump’s many bankruptcies that left banks holding the bag, they refused to lend him more money thus Trump went overseas and Trump Jr. proudly stated in 2009 that a disproportionate number of Trump’s new investors were from Russian Oligarchs. Maybe another reason why Trump breaks with tradition of the last ~50 years and does not release his tax returns. He is indebted to them. Might explain the bromance with Putin.
I am not delusional, just prefer not to bury my head in the sand and do not let my political preference bias my judgement. I live my life with eyes wide open. Obviously you do not. Remember place your head in the sand and sing ultra lound La La La La La and you will avoid the facts you wish not to see.
BTW NATO is not a protection racket — the 2% GDP military contribution is a recommendation and not hard coded into the NATO agreement. Sadly PM Harper also did not live up to that defence budget spending. Understand as he was trying to balance that damn budget though our military needed that a la fighter aircraft and new naval vessels.
I gather you also watched the last 1.5 years debates and speeches in that alternate universe. If Clinton could so easily distract and get Trump to go off course says lack of focus, lack of preparation, lack of discipline, and lack of intelligence guides this individual thus a wrong person to make intelligent decisions on the future of the country.
There is more to party loyalty and anger against the system. I seem to remember a Bob Rae was elected in the same type of anger and Notley was elected in Alberta on a similar vein of anger — they both proved disastrous.
God Clinton is no angel — what separates her from Trump is a medium level of sanity. Trump is his own biggest enemy to be elected on which this was a gift election to the GOP to win and they screwed it up by nominating Trump — talk about a death wish. What were they thinking?
I am glad I do not live in the USA because I could never vote for either Presidential main party candidate — but Trump is worse as he is insane.
    Gerry
