  4. I think Saskatchewan has found a market for its’ heavy oil. Pipeline to Churchhill anyone? Britain would love to get a secure crude supply to replace falling North Sea production. The nuke powered ice breaker could be christened the S.S. Brexit. 😉

  5. Churchill is a real possibility. With BC and the east doing whatever they can to thwart a renewed oil industry, Europe becomes a very attractive alternative.
    Most of the EU energy comes from Russia and the Middle east. Not wind power.
    They are politically unstable sources and negatively influence Europe’s resolve to stop Russian territorial expansion.
    A stable and reliable energy source from Canada would get them out from under Russia’s thumb and give them the freedom to defend themselves, if they have the stomach to do so.

  8. Wouldn’t it be interesting, given Manitoba’s new conservative government that separatist sentiments should gain traction. A successful energy enterprise and a Churchill pipeline would mean SK and MB could pool their commonalities breaking free from the dictates of idiots. Might even include AB after the NDP gets snuffed there forever. Would give our betters in central Canada something to stew about. I can fantasize can’t I?

  11. LC: I wish I could join in your optimism but I’m afraid our Western democracy has devolved to the dark side that was forewarned by many philosophers. Essentially we are entering the “mob-rule” state, where the mob is controlled by rhetoric and demagoguery promulgated by tyrants who are completely educated in the means of propaganda. It doesn’t matter if they’re left-wing tyrants, or right-wing tyrants, their goal is identical – power at any cost. They know how to achieve it, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

  13. Historically, when the powerful and wealthy become too greedy and corrupt the “mob” gets fed up and retaliates. At best, this change happens at the ballot box peacefully. At worst, on the streets not so peacefully. The U.K. looks to be doing the former.
    The current crop of self serving politicians and the megalomaniacs who buy politicians should hope people in every western country chooses the same route. Given the lack of any ethics and arrogance from today’s leaders, citizens have shown remarkable restraint so far.
