Just returned from the After-Church Service—Coffee Hour. —-A pleasant time with friends and an opportunity to catch up on the goings-on in the rural community and naturally within the congregation.
One family; the Husband born in Syria, an educated individual and cogniscent of Canadian Culture, established on the basic concept of the Enlightenment, as the foundation of Stability for Canada’s Citizens and in accordance with Canada’s Social Contract as the binding Principle of permitting The Federal and Provincial Governments to spend Canadian Citizen Tax-Dollars.
This Husband; a Canadian Citizen, born in Syria, and His Canadian Citizen Wife, born in Canada from several generations of European ancestry, sponsored the immigration of Two Siblings and their families from a Syrian Community.
The sponsorship covered the expenses of both immigrant families travel to Canada and living expenses. In addition there is a commitment to sustain the Two immigrating Syrian Sibling Families for a period of One Year.The One Year commitment ends in the Autumn of 2016.
One of the New Canadian Resident Families have been Self-Sustaining for a while now. The Sponsoring Family provided the guidance in processing the necessary Documentation; securing Separate accommodations in a small house and recommendations and assistance in securing employment.
The other sponsored New Canadian Resident Family is still residing in the Sponsoring Families Residence. Similar assistance for documentation; seeking and finding Separate accommodations; and assistance in securing employment met with no success.
A lack of interest and effort, let alone limited initiative, by the second sponsored Immigrat family appears to be the difficulty for the Sponsoring Family. Regaining their independent life as it was before this situation was put into motion appears to be far off into the future.
The Sponsoring Family are caring and giving people. Willing to travel more than one hundred kilometres to pick -up the incoming Refugee Families and bring them into the Sponsoring Family Home. Setting aside any of their own Family matters for a period of time, now reaching close to One Year.
In addition; this Sponsoring Family’s largesse, through some imagined-perceived-real pressure, undertook to Sponsor Three Single young male refugees into Canada. They really do not know much about the young men, however did go through a similar routine of travelling more than one hundred kilometres to pick up the New Canadian Residents as the first step in the process.
The discussion during the After Church Service—–Coffee Hour did not dwell on the present situation of the Three young Syrian male Refugees. However the experience in this particular Sponsoring Family’s immigration effort with their Sibling families refugee immigration, at this stage appears to be a 50% successful effort.
The present situation with the second Sibling family refugee effort is still up in the air. A few changes are underway.
The second Sibling family are considered to be keeping themselves “clean”, however the Sponsoring family is and for a short time longer, doing all the house cleaning; laundry; meals; groceries etc. with little interest by the second Sibling refugees. There is a conversation; confrontation; or definite conclusion about to happen.
The outcome at the end of the Sponsoring Family commitment, as the Ordinary Canadian Citizen has been led to believe; is the failure of a “Hurried Through Syrian immigrant Family” to become self-sustaining means the family will be returned to their Country of Origin at Canadian Tax-payer expense.
My concern and opinion is this will not meet the present Federal and Provincial Political dialogue and/or direction. Any failure to assimmilate or even adjust to a Canadian Cultural life-style by Syrian Refugees will become yet another tax-payer funded situation. Quickly to be lost in the Bureacratic Not-My-Job confusion.
Whether your skepticism will settle at an understanding this Bureaucratic confusion is just another part in the Planning Process of the Immigration Department Programme; is yours to determine.
