Utopi-aren’t

Robert Tracinski on socialist Venezuela and the imaginings of John Lennon:

Before you judge Venezuela’s looters, consider what you would do if your children were starving. So much for “no hunger.” What about the “brotherhood of man”? Not only is looting soaring in Venezuela, but so are all forms of crime. It has gotten so far out of control that mobs of vigilantes are burning people alive in the streets over petty thefts. It turns out then when people are starving, there’s not a lot of brotherhood. Instead, they fight like dogs over a bone.

One of these.

  1. Next on the agenda for this liberal, socialist, utopia will be a total Civil War.
It reminds me of the killing fields back in Cambodia, just not as organized yet.
Teachers, government employees, doctors, lawyers, judges, etc. etc. will be slaughtered..
I hope all the American and Canadian socialists, liberal, sons of bitches, that want this type of government have to watch the death and human misery caused by their idiot idols.

  2. Venezuela: Countless Wounded after 5,000 Starving Loot Supermarket.
At Least Two Dead in Maracay following Rumors of Hard-to-Find Products.
Hungry Venezuelans Hunt Dogs, Cats, Pigeons as Food Runs Out-
Economic Crisis and Food Shortages Lead to Looting and Hunting Stray Animals-

Michael Moore, you fat tub of lard bastard.
And Sean Penn, South American Meddler.
Go on back down to Venezuela and help feed the starving your great hero socialists leader Hugo Chavez worked so hard to screw over..

  3. Every article/column like raises the immediate question: “Has anyone asked that a**hole Sean Penn about this?”

  4. To effing sad that commie Lennon wasn’t still around to go down there and sing is commie-git prop song to the masses. I think he would have made a great looting victim. However, you get what you vote for. Are you watching, CanaDUH and United Stupid States?

  5. I would be taking everything the commie bast ards took from me and then some. Civil war, you bet.

  6. “It turns out then when people are starving, there’s not a lot of brotherhood. Instead, they fight like dogs over a bone.”
It wasn’t brotherhood that led them to vote for socialism in the first place.
Socialism is rank materialism. Government has no money of it’s own.
They voted for government to rob other people of their money and goods.
Those other people have run out of money and goods.
Typically, socialist governments are thug states with a veneer of civility.
The Venezuelan government’s veneer has worn off.
There will either be civil war or Venezuela will direct the violence outward and invade a neighboring state to take the pressure off at home.

  7. Oz, the same thing can happen in Canada and yet the fools still think that everybody can have everything without working for it.

  8. I’m old enough to remember but too young to understand why Lennon and Yoko Ono stayed in bed for a week to let their hair grow in the name of peace.
I have noticed, however, that they stayed in the Presidential Suite of the very expensive Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam.
All we are saying…is give socialism a chance.

  9. Would only like to mention that the socialists /fascist don’t care about those starving people or any other difficulties and disasters they cause.
    It’s just collateral damage.
What they care about is The Big Idea, Power and how much money the other people have.
    Everything else is a distraction.

  10. so true. mao had this mindset from the start, expressing the opinion for instance that if nuclear war spread socialism it would be worth it.
I’m waiting for the next leftist ‘hero’ to rise up and ‘learn from the mistakes in Venezuela’ and take yet another crack at it. comment it the link states removing barriers to stay in power, visa vie constitutional term limits, is a red flag. red. how apropos.
let them get a big BELLY FULL of redistribution. ‘be careful what you wish for’ there chavistas.

  11. Ironically socialism is based on greed and selfishness though that isn’t how it is marketed.
And while it is sad to see the place go to hell they made their choices and voted for it.

  12. Useful idiot rock stars, whose minds are infected by a fugly Asian mystic Communist girlfriends … get naked in bed … (In Toronto ?) and sing for Peace (and the Socialist nirvana) … All the while their accountants pay the bills from their enormous bank accounts swelled into the hundreds of millions by a “greedy” capitalist system of “unfair” distribution of wealth … are THE most hypocritical people on the planet … but women in the 15-35 age group just eat that stuff up like a starving Venezuelan … sad, really
    Imagine there’s no countries
    It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
As written, and sung from a warm, fluffy, feather bed in (formerly, capitalistic) Canada.

  13. “… Living life in peace.”
This sounds so much like the “religion of peace” we hear so much about.

  14. There has always been a segment of society that makes its way by ‘managing’ the labor of the more productive members. The guises used have been religion, business and of course politicans. Witch doctor to the Pope, mercantilism to communism and of course Wilson to Mao. IMHO many people are happy with others managing their lives. They don’t want to make tough decisions or do not have the mental skills to do so. They always run the risk of incompetence or dictatorship.
I do think the ‘veneer’ is thin and it can happen in Canada. I suggest the time for conservatives to rally around a sound fiscal philosophy that can be communicated in an intelligent manner is running short. Harper failed to do it and there might not be another chance. The CPC is rift with ‘carpet baggers’ and I suspect they will regain full control of this party over the next few months. Because there is no clear philosophy within this party I do not expect them to be challenged.
I find the critic of Venezuela’s situation a very false comfort. The same is happening in Canada but at a slower pace. IMHO this direction is almost unopposed.

  15. John sang “Imagine no possessions” as if that situation leads directly to an amazing utopia.
Right now Venezuelans don’t have to imagine no possessions, they are living it and it doesn’t seem to be such a dream world after all.
Brings me back to rule number 1: Never, ever, vote progressive.

  16. Yep … and America has got $ 20 TRILLION on the books (thanks Obama!) … and an ever increasing debt-to-receipts ratio. The libs believe America’s debt is an unlimited elastic number. They NEED to look HARD at Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Greece, Spain, et.al. Sorry to burst their (newest) BUBBLE … but our debt will eventually EXPLODE all over their shocked-looking faces. As the BUBBLE gets biggger and bigger … I am really considering the Mormon model of a years food supply and ammo to hold out just as long.

  17. kenji…”I am really considering the Mormon model of a years food supply and ammo to hold out just as long”
While I am not a Mormon, I’ve all ready got almost 2 years worth stockpiled. Seeing as how slow most CanadiaDUHS are, it will take us twice as long as you southern kin for us to pull our heads out of our “collective” butts.

  18. Yep, good idea to have plenty of food and ammo in store,it’s also very good to be surrounded by people who wouldn’t have a gun in the house if you paid them to.

  19. John did wake up before he died and realized how stupid he was.
If you don’t realize by now that this is what Communism gets you, then you can only be deliberately evil.
