Using recent advancements in Australian telescope technology, a Monash University-led research team has made an unexpected discovery that a large group of stars are dying prematurely, challenging our accepted view of stellar evolution. […]
While the cause of this remains a mystery, the HERMES chemical analysis has revealed that premature death tends to only occur in the sodium-rich/oxygen-poor stars. The surprising thing is that our best models of these stars do not predict that they will die young.

You really don’t get how science works, do you? This is exactly what it’s supposed to do.
“”Computer simulations do not agree with this observation; so as well as continuing observations, new computer models will need to be generated to better understand what is taking place in the cores of these stars,” Professor Lattanzio said.”
Words you will never, ever hear from the money grubbing, parasitic CAGW group! At least some real scientists still exist.
To quote Instapundit: “I’m not saying it’s aliens, but it’s aliens.”
Or, you know, one of those things that falls in our ‘overwhelming amount of things about the universe that we just don’t know yet’ category.
But probably aliens.
“You really don’t get how science works, do you?”
You really don’t get how sarcasm works do you?
As a weather forecaster the sight of yet another “forecast” by the religious Global warming or Climate Change or Global Cooling or whatever name the Big Gov worshipers are using today fills me with wonder. It is astounding that any organization who has been so spectacularly wrong on every single prior forecast is still taken seriously by the main stream media and far to many Americans. As a unit training manager I always instructed my students to carefully track their verification rates. If their success rate is bad (or in the case of the Al Gore types; 100% wrong) I would tell them to check their data, but more importantly check their assumptions and methods. Anyone who understands the difficulties associated with not only understanding but actually forecasting complex and interrelated systems should be able to see a clear bias that not only flavors the results but clearly it is the case here where they simply have an answer they want and build a forecast in which to provide that answer.
When will the public at large notice that these emperors have no clothes?
MSG Grumpy
He knows as much about the science of stars as this dude..

Global warming “expert” Michael Mann has recommended that astronomers use his method and ignore all data collected subsequent to constructing a model.
How long before the deaths of these stars are blamed on climate change?
Somewhere out there floating way way out there is Commador Decker’s Planet Killer(Doomsday Machine to chop up planets and turn them into rubble to refuel itself and the Jupiter 2 is still out there as well
It’s worse than we thought. They’re dying because we’re using fossil fuels. We have to stop so that the stars may live. Think of the children.
Note to Libs (and John): Star Trek was not a documentary. But with models, we are going where no man should have gone…
Great!!! Skip
The ONLY thing that AGW computer models accurately predict … is the INCREASE in government funding they will generate in the coming years.
Stellar astrophysics is better understood than “climate science” but no one has ever claimed that it is “settled.” In particular the student is likely to hear about how important turbulent energy transport is, and how poorly it is understood.
Has to be neonicotinoids and GMOs. Suzuki said they’re killing everything.
Unlike climatology, cosmology is constantly testing its assumptions and theories unafraid to admit uncertainty, in fact they immerse themselves in it.
That’s because they’re engaged in real science, not the junk political science inflicted upon unwary math illiterate and group think addled citizens.
When was the last time a cosmologists demanded jail time for dissenters of string theory or dark energy/matter? They don’t throw a hissy fit and insult anyone who doesn’t see it their way. You don’t have to agree with them, no need for a law against that. They haven’t sold their souls for funding.
Their science is actually sound, without the shrillness; unlike the world government watermelon warmists. That’s because cosmologists generally aren’t con artists who have scientific integrity rather than being rent seeking parasites on freedom and prosperity with nothing useful or interesting to add, who feel the need to threaten and slime anyone who doesn’t agree with their views and privilege.
Anyway I don’t see cosmologists advocating the jailing of creationists. At least cosmology is interesting and useful.
That’s because they’re engaged in real science…
Real science would be self-financing. Their only conclusion was more money from taxpayers for more ‘models’ to play with.
I don’t think that pure science has EVER been self-financing.
Edison, Bell, Whitney, Wright, Morse, Ford…
Seems to me that the difference between science and engineering eludes you.
Gorbal Worming!
Yeah well, if it’s only useful to pick the pockets of taxpayers, it’s still being a parasite. That seems to elude you…
