The RSPCA in action:
Miss Brown only discovered her animals had been taken away and moved to “new loving homes” when she was released from hospital two weeks later.
Her three pet sheep were also shot the day after she was taken into hospital, before the animals were said to have been fed to the hounds of a local hunt.
These are the activists devising marketing schemes for companies like Earls, and taking over veterinary associations with the goal of ending animal ownership rights through changes to Canadian law. The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation – unless you have a basket of kittens sleeping in the closet.
Wake up, provincial governments. They’ve begun by branding routine animal husbandry practices as “cruel”, have the circuses, zoos and animal parks in the crosshairs, and are coming for agriculture, rodeo, and other animal sport. The time to curb the powers of these non-governmental agencies and activist veterinary boards is now.

Today is the final day for Ringling Brothers Circus to have the elephants preforming…. they’re headed to a conservatory.

“My cats are my life and I’ve always cared a lot more about my pets than people,” Miss Brown told The Mail on Sunday.
I think this is one of those “can’t they both lose” situations. If you read the text, it seems pretty clear the family made the decision to dispose of the animals. Whether they had a legal right to do so is the only real question here.
Her three pet sheep […]
Sheep are livestock, not pets.
“An RSPCA spokesman told the Mail on Sunday: “We were asked to rehome these cats in response to an urgent request by the police and family.
“The family was given a number of options of care for the cats but after considering them, they asked us to rehome them.”
I don’t disagree that many animal activists are out-of-control, but that is not what this story seems to indicate. This clearly states that it was the family’s decision. Also, there are seemingly valid clues she lived in a “hoarders” environment.
Executing pet sheep is another thing completely, though. One would assume the family would be consulted about that too….. but then, who really knows……. it is folly to put trust in any reporter for a balanced and complete rendering of any event these days.
Don’t believe me? Then just ask the families under attack from muslim students at a certain Nova Scotia school. Or, the good people of Caledonia, for that matter.
“I think this is one of those “can’t they both lose” situations.”
And why is that? Because she cared for her animals more than you approve off? No harm in that. But of course a$$holes need to always remind animal owners that animals are not people and that people should not care all that much for their pets. F*** off, mind your own business.
“Sheep are livestock, not pets.”
To her they were pets. Her property hence she gets define them as pets if she chooses to. Again, none of your business.
“F*** off, mind your own business.”
This is great advice. However left-wing nannies will do neither the former nor the latter simply because meddling is their raison d’etre. Their love for legislation and regulation knows no bounds. From raising animals to smoking restrictions to mandating the lowering of toboggan hill grades … these people have way too much time on their hands and neither the skills or inclination to perform useful tasks. They have no place to f*ck off to and no meaningful business of their own. Complete and utter wastes of space and oxygen.
Politicians are easily tempted to over-regulate, to violate the Rights of free citizens, who they’re being convinced by the cultural Marxists, have no rights.
Over-regulation creates an expanded bureaucracy to tax and invade into the lives of citizens.
The struggle for citizens to live freedom is an ongoing struggle against totalitarianism in it’s various forms.
A province wide populist political movement to the provincial constitution to recognize property rights, providing them Constitutional status is required.
It is difficult to challenge abuse from the federal government but comparatively easier to do that to a provincial government.
No elected provincial government would survive long attempting to tell it’s citizens that, they don’t have a right to their own stuff.
Because by her own words, she cared more about her pets than people. Anyone who elevates animals above people is morally defective. That is, in fact, the very moral defect this site rightly ascribes to various “animal rights” activists.
To her they were pets
Other people’s delusions are not binding on my opinions.
People are free to care for whomever and whatever they like. The point that Colonialista was making and that you are avoiding is that all the animals were her property. As such, the RSPCA disposed of her property based on the say-so of the woman’s family. Hence your claim about ‘morally defective’ is irrelevant even if it might be true.
The real villains of the piece her are the woman’s family who disposed of her property when she was neither deceased nor shown to be intestate.
I wonder how the RSPCA feel about the fact that the sheep were used to nourish the local hunting hounds? A bit ironic I think.
“Because by her own words, she cared more about her pets than people.”
Yes, and I care more about my dog than I care about you. As a matter of fact I care more about my dog than I care about, for example, the entire country of Somalia. Are you going to regulate who people should care for?
Clearly her wonderful and loving family made sure her pets were taken away or killed first chance they got. Perhaps she had very good reasons to not care for her family? Perhaps she did not. She was not harming anyone and her rights were violated. And you are fine with the violation because you do not approve of her harmless priorities. Typical liberal. Like I said: F*** off, mind your own business.
So what about the 33 dogs who were awarded the VC for saving their handlers lives? Get back to me when your dog takes a bullet for you. Or sniffs out a booby trap designed for you. The wrong ones here in this case took the bullet. SJW is a mental disease, and the wrong ones are being taken out.
Similarly the police K9 corps. The dogs are considered to be members of their respective forces and are even given a rank:

One died in the line of duty here in Edmonton 2 or 3 years ago and his actions in dealing with his killer with likely saved the lives of his human comrades.
His death led to the passing of what’s been nicknamed Quanto’s Law, making it a crime to kill a service animal.
took me about 1/2 second ( a trick to experience that time span used to be to look thru the shutter of a 35 mm reflex camera) to key onto the word ‘license’.
its all about oXiXl er, MONEY.
PETA has compared pet ownership to slavery in the minds of some idiots OD’ed on too many Born Free,Free Willy type of crap and even while PETA has killed up to 90% of the animals they have adopted while yammering about Compassion in their stupid protests and Junk mailings
Yes, and the Shriner’s circus that comes to Saskatoon and other cities has also caved to the PETA zealots and will not longer be having elephants or big cats. We will no longer be going to the circus, but then that is the final aim of the cultural Marxist crowd.
Daniel, “Sheep are livestock, not pets”. Many rural people have animals like this as pets, not just dogs and cats. In some areas of the world sheep can even be girlfriends. 😉
cgh, exactly, and as Spurwing says, “PETA has compared pet ownership to slavery…”
“In some areas of the world sheep can even be girlfriends. ”
For centuries inhabitants of the middle east knew to use goats intestines for condoms, but only since colonization did they learn how to remove them from goats.
As a matter of fact I care more about my dog than I care about, for example, the entire country of Somalia.
Right On! As a matter of fact I care more about my dog than I care about the entire continent of Africa + the Mideast.
His death led to the passing of what’s been nicknamed Quanto’s Law, making it a crime to kill a service animal.
A brilliant law, you are required not a defend yourself when the beast is biting into your flesh.
In the case of Quanto, the dog was a police officer, not property.
Keep in mind that a canine and its handler are like regular partners. I’ve heard that the human constable often grieves the loss of the four-legged one, because they have a special working relationship. The dog was a comrade and, perhaps, a friend as well.
Cry me a river, when the JBTs kick in your doors terrorize your family and kill your dogs these dogs don’t matter. But when cop dog dies it is tragedy.
Do people really not realize that the practice of giving honorary ranks to military and police dogs is a sop to the morale of the human servicemen?
They’re not officers. They’re dogs. In the case of police dogs they are the property of the police force or the state.
Seriously – treating animals as if they’re people instead of property is exactly what PETA wants.
well mr ream, did you know way back when, a lot of people acquired pet rocks?
ever heard of the words ‘pet phrase’ meaning someone favorite saying in certain situations?
I betcha when agriculture employed 90% of the populace instead of the other way around, working dogs assigned the task of herding livestock (including sheep) or accompanying the hunters, and cats assigned the task of cleaning out rodents were ALSO deemed to be PETS.
pot belly pigs got a lot of press a ways back also when some decided to keep them as pets. it was ill advised since the pigs grew very large, but they were in all that time still PETS, and NOT raised for meat. strange pets but still PETS. m’kay?
p.s., if there is a slab of granite somewhere with the words carved in it ‘livestock are not pets’ I will concede the point. otherwise take your condescending attitude back to the 50s.
oh lordy mr/ms Colonialista, well said. I concur on your assessment of Somalia.
I just put down my most loyal, generous, caring lab Juno on Easter Sunday of all days. A certain symbolism there. she was one of those with an astounding uncanny ability to ‘size up’ the visitors. I *ALWAYS* praised her when she raised the alarm and then together we would check out the front door and do the all clear or deal with the arrivals.
Now I have Truman. a shep-hound-boxer-mastiff mix. Quite opposite of Juno but in good ways. good grief, his neck muscles are as thick as my leg. I put him in the shed for a ‘time out’ once and after an hour the knob looked like someone had taken a pick axe to it. apparently he concluded escape had something to do with that ’round thing’ daddy turned. he’s just a puppy so I am still making allowances.
the loyalty of a good dog in my book far, far, far outweighs the ‘promises’ of liars and fraudsters claiming to ‘work in my interests’. Dogs know nothing of finance, law, politics, etc etc. all these inventions of humahns that obscure decency and truth. Truman is my 5th pet. he is in a sense a working dog. I rent rooms and need to know the comings and goings. he has already given total green light to my 3 regulars who have proven their reliability over a collective total of 17 years. see what I mean? he only had a couple weeks to draw the same conclusion and he did so 100% accurately. they really do have an astonishing ability to peg the good people. oh they know. they know who is ‘on their side’. Juno was a puppy mill breeder, I could never get any more information, but the gratitude she showed when I took her out of that situation, and the affection she reciprocated was unparalleled.
gawd help the cold blooded PETA killers fund raiser that shows up at my door or anywhere else in shouting range. fcuking ‘slavery’ crap.
rehome the cats. who the he ll says rehome?
“who the he ll says rehome?”
Morons who feel that “give away” lacks a certain gravitas more appropriate to the situation. The fact is they took the cats under a flimsy legal cover and then gave the cats to whoever asked, and didn’t care if they got a new home or a short trip to the stew pot.
Facts are pesky things. Better to lie and say “we did everything we could.” SJWs always lie, and always double down. Every single time.
Giving a police dog extra legal protection isn’t about the dog, it’s about the cop who handles it. If the perp knows that disabling the dog brings no additional legal consequence, he’s more likely to do so, raising the risk level for everyone involved.
Meanwhile back in the real world, until cops begin to police themselves there is no reason to extend their privileges any further.
Mischief over $5000 (and properly trained police service dogs are worth way more than that, up to $20,000) is already punishable by up to ten years imprisonment.
Do you know what the maximum penalty for killing a police dog is under “Quanto’s Law”?
Five years.
Good job, sentimentalists! Further proof of Shaidle’s Refutation to Conquest’s First Law: everyone is liberal about the things he knows best.
Including letting criminals off with lighter sentences, apparently.
Mischief? Try self defense, when the f***ing beast is biting into you. I’ll stub it without thinking. There is no reason for cops to seek dogs on people period.
