TMX 2? Trans Mountain 3? West Coast Pipeline to parallel existing Trans Mountain route, foregoing northern ports. In a case where going with the devil you know, the newly proposed West Coast Pipeline is expected to follow most of the Trans Mountain Pipeline right of way – you know, the one that saw TMX go from $7.5 billion to around $34 billion.
Yes, I did stay up until 5 a.m. writing this.

More bread and circuses.
Carney is so full of shit its beyond the pale.
There is no oil tanker ban on the east coast.
The Indians can go fck themselves. Buncha hypocritical parasites.
Smith is delusional and Eby is a clown.
Soon as the word “carbon” is used, you know the looney tunes have their finger in someone’s arsehole.
I agree with your points and frustration, especially your remark about the lack of an east coast pipeline. And I think Carney and establishment Canada are profoundly corrupt. But having said that I own shares of both Aecon and Pembina Pipeline, both have interest in this pipeline expansion. My investment portfolio is heavily tilted towards the western Canada economy, since I believe Alberta and Saskatchewan are the least corrupt region in Canada and show good economic growth prospect.
I realize premier Smith receives a lot of flack, especially the Laurentian media blob but also from conservatives. I believe Ms. Smith believes in improving the welfare of Albertans and this is why she signed the deal — even though it is with a pro-EU crook like Carney. The proposed pipeline expansion will be good for western Canada.
“proposed”
Its like that Maritime Launch pad in Nova Scotia, David.
Money for nothing and your chicks for free.
Or the High Speed Magic Carpet Train between Quebec and Toronto, stopping at Trois Rivieres, Montreal, Vaudreuille, Orleans, Ottawa, Smith Falls, Brockville, Kingston, Oshawa, Pickering and Toronto. No one asked for this, except in the board room of Atkins-Réalis AKA SNC-Lavellin.
Talk-talk … that’s all I got … so we might as well listen to that talk with a cool fuzz bass overlay!

Yes, my 10yo self LOVED this photo-punk tune in 1966 on my brand new pocket-sized transistor radio … that never did the fuzz bass full sonic justice.
In what year will this new pipeline be ready?
Nothing other than “Construction could start as early as September 1, 2027.” That is the end of the published timeline – so, there really isn’t one.
https://www.alberta.ca/west-coast-oil-pipeline#timeline
The word indigenous appears everywhere – “Indigenous Leadership” – now that’s funny.
More nonsense: The carbon capture Gods must be appeased.
“…..have now agreed on the terms to launch the Pathways Project, the world’s largest carbon capture and utilization and storage project, which, together with other emission reduction commitments in the agreement, will achieve 16 million tons of emissions reductions per year, or the equivalent of taking 90% of the cars in Alberta off the road.”
For comparison: “China’s coal burning releases approximately 8.55 billion metric tons of carbon a year.”
Anyway, Alberta needs to get its oil to market and maybe this is the only way in Conmmunist Indigenous Canada.
The real goal is to take 100% of Alberta’s cars off the road, force everyone into government owned public housing within 15 minute cities (like both Calgary and Edmonton have agreed to become), reduce the population of Canada by 95% or enslave them so that they have no choices and own nothing – WEF communism/national socialism. You are the carbon that they wish to capture or reduce.
“For comparison: “China’s coal burning releases approximately 8.55 billion metric tons of carbon a year.””
Let’s finish the math. This means that Alberta’s obscenely expensive carbon capture machinery will remove a little less than 1/500,000 of China’s coal-generated CO2. Completely futile. Our forests are far more efficient than that, and they don’t charge us for it.
If we added all the other CO2 China generates, the numbers would be even uglier. Coal is not the only thing they burn.
China generates a little more than 30% of global carbon emissions. Canada—all of Canada— generates 1.5%. And our leaders think we can make a global difference??
Burying farts.
Canada’s childlike faith in the lies of Al Gore is laughable.
The godless horde is still searching for their savior. They actually BELIEVE they can save themselves. Fools.
I don’t know if anyone here knows, but can the “captured carbon” be used to make carbon fiber or other carbon products? Would it be too expensive to separate the CO2 at industrial scale?
GOD already made for us a way to massively and cheaply separate and store the carbon from carbon dioxide.
Plants (trees, flowers, etc.) by photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is plant food. The higher the atmospheric PPM the better.
As a benefit, the oxygen is released into the atmosphere for use by the carbon-based-lifeforms (humans, birds, animals, etc.) that is essential for life.
It’s not carbon, but CO2, a gas that will leak out anyway. Or maybe they think that, because it is heavier than air, it will just lie down and die in its hole.
The reason Smith had to make this proposal yesterday is because no one else would. No belief in investment in Canada, no trust in the process. 7 months since the MOU and she announced nothing yesterday. There is no pipeline. Now the Indians get in the way.
Danielle just keeps going back to her abuser. Like most Canadians.
Alberta topics attract 90% defeatists,
the other half are moles.
And the remaining 16% or so are presumably marmots?
Fascism, under a worn-out green pseudo-science obsession now ignored by the world’s major economies, along with a unique state-mandated master-race inversion of parasitic communist apartheid, is now the governing economic system in Canada. The state has made private sector investment in large pipeline and other resource sector infrastructure impossible due to indeterminate regulatory impediments and mandates, the state becomes developer and owner along with the parasitic apartheid groups and a token pipeline company. The little Napoleonic fascist, Carney will now be seen as the hero of Canada by his state media.
“All within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” – Benito Mussolini
It’s fascinating, isn’t it, how these fascist/national socialist ideas have grown so strong during the last 30-40 years, in Canada as well as in the EU, especially considering “the events” in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, not to mention in 1989/91?
Once upon a time, most people would object, but these days it seems people totally embrace totalitarianism.
Fascism is part of the end-stage democracy of all western bankrupt welfare states transitioning to tyranny. Fascism is very likely the closest description of every state on the planet aside from possibly the last holdout of communism in North Korea. The only nation attempting a return to a liberal (classical definition) society is likely Argentina under Millie.
Speaking of all the carbon addons and requirements for an Alberta pipeline, be sure to chew your paper straw slowly so Dubai and China can build more indoor ski resorts:
One of many, Wikipedia: “Ski Dubai is an indoor ski resort with 22,500 square meters of indoor ski area. The park maintains a temperature of −1 to 2 °C (30 to 36 °F) throughout the year. It is a part of the Mall of the Emirates, one of the largest shopping malls in the world, located in Dubai,”
China:
“Europoors: if we stop using AC we will solve climate change
China: 1M sq ft indoor ski resort that has 10 MW of refrigeration running 365 days a year”

Hahahahaha … and they mock CA as a “Cadillac desert”.
Lessee……hmmmm……something’s missing here, can’t quite put my finger on it……..
Oh, yeah, now I got it.
This “project” is exactly how government does things. Wrong. Badly. Incompetently.
They put the cart before the horse.
Still NO private corporation, builder, design or engineering, nor FINANCING, has stepped forward.
None. Zero. Zilch. Sure, we hear murmurs of interested parties. Rumour mills are a dime a dozen.
With no laws changed, no legislation repealed, no agreements with injuns made and no “owner” wanting any of those risks whatsoever, all this is, is just a whole lot of political theatre signifying nothing!
This is so bereft of details and full of bluster, can any of this political project be trusted, whatsoever?
No Price Tag, what a country!
Smith has to at least make an appearance of cooperation with the feds. She knows just like the rest of us that the pipeline won’t happen. But, she has to play it out until the referendum.
And she has to be on the No side in the referendum, regardless of her personal opinion. Or at least she has to appear to support No.
But after the referendum? A yes vote gives her lots to work with.
It’s not carbon capture. It’s Cabrón, you know. It’s like Mexican, eh?
Cabrón capture. They capture all of the Cabrón’s money in the War Against the Weather.
One of my favorite RHCP tunes …

Not only do I adore Frusciante’s guitar work … I dig his falsetto vocal fills.
I see you in the park
You’re always wearing Dodger blue
Mad-doggin me and anyone from any other crew
I am small but I am strong
I’ll get it on with you
If you want me to
What else can I do?
