China Stops Building Wind Turbines Because Most Of The Energy Is Wasted.
“Even though China will not approve new projects, the scale of existing wind power installations is huge, leaving the grid struggling to cope with it,” Xie Guohui, an analyst at a Chinese think tank, told the environmental blog InsideClimate News Monday. “In the best-case scenario, this policy will help China’s wind power curtailment maintain the same level as it was last year.”

That’s just the number estimated to have died in the winter of 2014 because they were unable to afford fuel bills driven artificially high by renewable energy tariffs.
But the real death toll will certainly be much higher when you take into account the air pollution caused when Germany decided to abandon nuclear power after Fukushima and ramp up its coal-burning instead; and also when you consider the massive increase in diesel pollution – the result of EU-driven anti-CO2 policies – which may be responsible for as many as 500,000 deaths a year.
This is great news – particularly since Prime Minister Trulander admires China’s dictatorship and their ability to change course rapidly. Perhaps some policy changes are in the wind for Canada?
Future proponents of wind or solar should have to bid for market access based on having to supply grid power,IOW complete utility service. They currently claim that their costs are competitive with firm power alternatives as long as the cost of smoothing-out their messed-up grid is born by someone else. We wouldn’t see a single project on that basis.
Like I’ve said before, the discrepancy between pro and anti Green energy factions about the effectiveness, price, capabilities, risks etc. of wind and solar is so huge that it’s almost comical. There’s supporting research for every bias.
What is apparent is that jurisdictions that have gone big on wind and solar also have the highest retail (not wholesale) electricity prices. The explanations for the cost is clear but ignored : subsidies at every stage, guaranteed access and profits, having to build a matching “dirty” MW for every green MW, more transmission lines and switch yards, increased imports due to intermittency and non-dispatchability. I’m sure there’s an exception but I’d bet those countries rely on a baseload of low cost energy. The U.K., Germany, Ontario have all seen big retail price increases for the average household. Big industries are often given sweetheart rates to prevent job losses due to high electricity prices.
Really, the only rational plan is to secretly lobby your neighbouring provinces and states to over-build wind and solar. This means they will pay you to take their electricity (see Ontario). Then build natgas plants, that can easily be ramped up and down, for your own province’s use. Subtract the difference between coal emissions and natgas emissions (about 50% reduction in CO2). Subtract the imported green electricity from your total yearly emissions because you use less natgas. Voila! You effortlessly meet your federally mandated carbon emission reductions. Go Green, Alberta NDP, Go Green. 🙂
Despite being told by every objective analyst looking into power sources, Ont determined to embark on the wind/solar route. Even a study commissioned by the government, done by the Society of Professional Engineers found industrial wind plants would result in more net CO2 emissions in the long term. So Energy Probe,the A-G, their own energy annalists are wrong, and G Butts, Dalton McGuinty and K Wynne are right.
Even after over charging residents an astounding $37B for electricity, not totally due to wind plants, but certainly connected, Wynne is still forcing hated wind facilities onto rural residents. Ont taxpayers get to subsidize rates for Michigan and New York consumers.

There is a solution for countries with wind turbines. Remove the generators and replace them with electric motors. The fan will turn, much like the little Dutch windmill that my old Dad had in his backyard that ran 24-7. He also had a water wheel with the water running through a fake creek, powered by a little sump pump from Princess Auto.
This is the same as my Dad had.
