I’m afraid all this is because of millennials who voted for the first time. Many have never worked at proper jobs, never paid taxes, and have been accustomed to being amply rewarded for little effort. They grew up with it in school, so why shouldn’t they expect the same from the government?

We rarely crack $200 for gas&elec in Alberta, same size home.
He must be heating with electricity, that’s just out of whack even for Ontario. We pay a little over half of that for two months but our town runs it’s own utility, however our rates do go up a percentage when Ontario generation decides to raise the rates. It’s all about green insanity.
They are not bribing them with their own money. They are bribing them with the promise of someone else’s Money! This will not stop until we put ourselves into an untenable financial situation. This is the danger for our children and grandchildren. Then to Make it better we are importing many poorly skilled people who like to blow things up when things don’t go their way or you disagree with them. I am unfortunately living in a house built in the late 1960s and my Hydro bill is now that high. I also use a propane gas insert in the family room fireplace. Because the house has a sunken living room, I’m told I can’t have a propane gas furnace installed (lack of headspace).
I have to get out of this money-guzzling house but no one is going to buy it. I’m early crazy with worry. My pension income is $3,000. over what would qualify me for assistance; if there were two living here I would qualify. Go figure.
I cannot manage so there is a lot of desperation out there.

This entirely NORMAL California weather pattern is now SOLD to a gullible public as something unusual … because … of … course … GLOBAL WARMING !!! And the sinfulness of capitalism and consumerism. I lived in the UK for several years before returning to Canada in ’07. Over there, everything – and I mean everything – is subject to some fee, charge, tax, duty or other revenue-raising impost.
One of the things I looked forward to in returning to Canada was some measure of relief from all that sort of citizen-shakedown.

While I somewhat share your sentiment, I I do know a significant number of young people who are hardworking and motivated . And to be fair an 18 year old only really knows Stephen Harper as prime minister. So possibly we can forgive them for not understanding the imbecile Trudeau is. So how do we explain David the ninny Suzuki or the weasel Fife or the Liberal wanna be Craig Oliver. And there are many more in their age group and mine. What’s their excuse ?
I had the same discussion with my daughter. Since she’s paid attention to politics, Harper was PM whilst Suzuki et al were traipsing about spitting our green and the education system was performing its cultural relativity hypnosis. She was also sure Trump made fun of a disabled person, but she trusts her dad and did as I suggested, got the rebuttal, and thus learned to critically view her sources.
I think she knows Trudeau is an idiot, but she doesn’t have the yardsticks of PET and Chretien to gauge his imbecility, but at least is willing to observe and learn. That’s when I told her I was cashing in on early CPP and OAS for mom & pop, all at millennial expense. She didn’t seem to believe me.
