The man accused of attacking a military recruiting centre in Toronto Monday shouted “Allah told me to do this, Allah told me to come here and kill people,” according to Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders.

Police say a man has been arrested after walking into a Canadian Forces recruiting office armed with a knife and allegedly stabbing two Forces members in an incident being investigated for possible terrorist activity.
Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders says the 27-year-old walked into the office around 3:30 p.m. Monday and attacked a person in uniform behind the counter.
“The attack was unprovoked,” Saunders said Monday night outside the building at Yonge Street and Greenfield Avenue, just north of Sheppard Avenue.
“Potential terrorist activity is one of the angles we are looking at,” he added.

The police chief said the alleged attacker made remarks during the incident, but declined to elaborate or identify the man, saying only he is in hospital.
“Certain comments were made by this gentleman… that has caused some concern,” he said.

Certainly don’t want to report what the alleged perpetrator said. It was just cause for “concern”.

I think we would be wise to move toward the Swiss model of having every retired member (honourably discharged) take all their kit, including any arms they were issued, home with them upon discharge from service. You know kt, it is one thing to kill someone for adulterating your spouse, stealing your car or your guns, or even killing someone for pissing you off. Not to mention the poor bastards we had to kill in a combat zone.

Not long. I served in the British Army in the 1980s and because of the Irish terrorists in U.K. and Germany it was routine to think before going off base not “Should I change into civvies?” but rather “Is there a need to be in uniform on this errand?” Because the default condition was don’t wear uniform.
Gives a whole new meaning to the Liberal ad a few years ago about “Soldiers,….With Guns,….on our streets.” With the Liberal refugee policy we are going to need those soldiers now being posted to the ME to be reassigned to Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver you get the idea, hopefully Trudeau gets it too.
