  1. Every week, “Trump Blows it”.
from every political side and ideology.
    From every know it all.
Do not bet your hat on it.
Because the rational for the second attack on Iraq was poorly expressed and even more poorly explained, then the results were a military success but a political surrender.
ISIS being the only winners so far.
Trump will gain votes by sneering at Bush 2 and the wanna be Bush 3..
    President Trump.
Has a nice ring to it and makes politically savvy folks head explode.
Trump gains support every time he say;”F You” to the proper politicians and their sycophants.
Politics as usual ain’t cutting it, especially with US voters.

  2. What is this, Trump Blew It version 456.2
Trump has been saying these very same things at virtually every rally, and he leads by huge margins with the military and vets.
Maybe 3 Trillion spent for nothing … zero; and thousands of wounded and crippled vets and dead have something to do with it; and now a fast escalating suicide rate among vets far in excess of the national average for people in the same age brackets.
I was an ardent supporter of the War in Iraq … but have to now admit that it will go down as one of America’s greatest ever military misadventures.
The intelligence used was stunningly off; and countered what every single inspector on the ground in Iraq was saying at the time. Even the Deulfer Report, when read in hindsight is a complete whitewash. Either American intelligence is horrifically bad; or we were lied to. There are no other options.
    2. The prosecution of the war was grossly faulty, depending on a “soft footprint” after the initial victory. Thousands of Americans died “after” the invasion because Bush used one of the worst possible and now proven faulty strategies. Only the sheer guts of the military and the surge saved the day, by then thousands of Iraqis and Americans had died or were forever maimed. Historians will savage Bush on this; and they should.
    3. The result has been the destabilization of the entire region and the growth of Iran as the chief power … all for a price tag of 3 Trillion to USA tax payers.
    4. The claim of WMD found is a laugh … a joke. If functional WMD in any quantity had been found, GW and every single supporter would’ve spiked the ball … but there was no such thing. Iraqi yellow cake that was delivered to Cameco is not a WMD, and Iraq no capacity even remotely to enrich it. All other WMD to basically artifacts of the Iraq/Iran wars and not functional. GW himself has not claimed to been right on the WMD.
    5. A word about military folks “loving them some GW”. That may be the case, but the massive support for Trump among the military demographic is testimony to the fact that although GW “was” popular, it is slowly sinking in that they bled for nothing … zero … and that they did so based on either the most laughably false intelligence in modern history; or a lie. And, the fact that GW did nothing to fix the VA and Medicare System also is slowly sinking in. In fact, the corruption in the system went nuclear during his terms. As well, the “soft footprint” strategy cost most of the American lives and maiming … and sits squarely on Bush’s shoulders.
    6. To this Day, GW will not address the “Muslim” problem. He is stuck in a 2001 loop based on ignorance or slavery to his very close ties to Saudi Arabia. “Islam is Peace”, he stated again and again … and he has never moved on. That is the definition of ragingly stupid. After serving tour after tour in the shit holes of Iraq and Afghanistan, I have no doubt that that rings empty in the ears of those who bleed for America. That’s why Trump can say what says, with vets and military folks peppered throughout his rallies, and there is no fallout.
    7. GW couldn’t be elected dog catcher in Texas today; his legacy will be the Financial Crisis, 9/11, No Child Left Behind, Massively Expanded Government, a 3 Trillion Dollar utterly failed War, and Middle Eastern chaos. Bush did not keep America safe, because 9/11 happened on his watch. From winning the election, transition, to 9/11 almost a year elapsed.
I say all of this as one who backed the Iraq War 100% … fool me once, you ain’t going to fool me twice. For example, the same “intelligence” community talked us into going into Libya … but I was absolutely opposed at the time and never forgave Harper for demonstrating that he was just another Globalist puppet by doing so. There are so many fires going off in the ME, Africa, and parts of Asia now that we will never put them out, and GW had a lot to do with it. He embraced Islam; entered into one of the most misguided Wars America has ever entered, the repercussions of which are still being felt.
Not one single damn good thing came out of the Iraq adventure … not one. Sure, Saddam is gone, but now we have chaos.

  3. They all know ….sadly…..
That generally the public has a short memory. And the nights fight will soon be over shadowed by other events etc etc etc.
The GOP has a segment of their followers that are no different than Obama /Saunders supporters in 08 and today.
    Hype over record or substance.
If Trump withers so be it. He probably doesn’t want to win anyhow. But he loves rocking the boat.

  4. Trump needs to dial it back now.
He has everyone’s attention now and is saying things popular with the voters, but now he has to consolidate those gains and not blow it.
The closer he gets to voting days where people will actually be making their decisions the more he has to cut the attention grabbing shock jock BS.

Trump Drops Mask: Goes Full Moonbat in Debate
    http://moonbattery.com/?p=68813

Even if Saddam didn’t have WMDs, to accuse Bush of lying is itself a lie. Everyone believed Saddam had WMDs. There is no reason to think Bush was the sole exception.
True enough, the war was a mistake — but only in hindsight, knowing that Obama would prematurely withdraw our troops and allow Islamic radicals to fill the vacuum.
Note that Trump also blames W for the World Trade Center attack. It isn’t the first time. He has even ventured into 9/11 Truther territory.
Trump is not just a liberal posing as a Republican. He is a moonbat posing as an American.
While Bush 43 was taking the fight to the terrorists and American troops were in harm’s way, the Donald was yelping about impeachment. When the Tea Party reached full steam, he was praising Obama and denouncing America for being racist. Now he’s back to echoing Michael Moore propaganda regarding the Iraq War and 9/11.
Anyone with right-of-center politics who supports Donald Trump has been duped. The guy is a talented salesman. But now the mask is off, so there is no excuse not to acknowledge the mistake.

  6. Hillary as president would be the second worst thing to happen to the world in 2017. Trump as Prez would be the worst. Sure he talks like the local saloon patrons with his disregard for authority. And they love him for it. But he also knows just as much about the world issues as they do. He’s a celebrity desiring more attention. Same as Obama, same as Justin. Know nothings that will let activists rule the roost. Y’all can root for him but outside Rubio or Cruz, we are hooped.

  7. Y’all are forgetting a key detail:
This election has nothing to do with logical thought.
Sanders is trying desperately to give away everything in order to bring about Venezuela North and Trump is seeing the anger in the electorate and plays to it. Most people think the Iraq war was a waste of blood, lives, time and money. Even those that think the US won it think it was a waste. He knows this and is prying away some Dem voters with this line of attack.
Listen, Jeb’s dead in the water and everybody but Jabe knows this. Pounding on him for his brother’s legacy will work ’cause Jeb won’t fight back with any substance. Trump’s the nominee barring something massive and he’s a 45 state winner at the minimum.

  8. I do not think Trump fits readily into the left-right paradigm. Most people don’t. What appeals about Trump is that he is anti-establishment, anti_status-quo. That gets him a lot of mileage. The attack on Bush will attract Democrats and independents. His role will be to break up the cozy Washington clique. That would improve US politics greatly. After the self-serving hypocrites are gone we can worry about left and right.

  9. I disagree. Justin and Obama are puppets. Trump is his own man He is smart and will hire excellent advisors.

  10. Trump didn’t blow it. He just was finally goaded by the other candidates and the audience to the point where he really revealed his character – pushing back every inquiry or claim with a more vulgar rebuttal – liar / conspiracy and other insults.
Let’s see what the voters do know that there can be no claims of innocence – they know what they are getting now.

  11. Military American here, my kids and I both were in for Iraq and Afghanistan…we liked Bush well enough at the time (after all, he at least acted like he liked us which was better than Gore, Kerry, Clinton, and Obama).
But our family and friends really were killed and maimed for nothing (and now they’re left out on the streets); the jihadis weren’t stopped and seem to be just as strong as ever (because our politicians just had to play footsie with a bunch of corrupt double dippers); and our families are poorer and more out of work than ever…and now the same %%%%s want to import massive amounts of them into the country (where they will do what?act like they do in Europe? like they do in Canada? like they have started to here? where were the freaking conservative “patriots” where was Bush when all this started to go down?) at a time when most likely we’ll get the most anti-2nd SC ever.
We hate Republicans as much as Democrats; there is no difference. They lied to us, they used us, and then they threw us under the bus…and that includes the freaking Bushes.
And we hate pundits who carry their water too (and any of those so called solid citizens who never once stepped up and put on the uniform and carry the water along with them). They should all do everybody a favor and not wrap themselves up in the flag anymore, ever.
Next time, they should put a rifle in their kids/grandkids’ hands and shove them straight to the front of the line…then they can come talk to veterans and their families about “God and country” and “patriotism”.

  12. Bush, Obama, Clinton, Trudeau, Trump.
There is only one of these that doesn’t put the interests of Saudi Arabia ahead of his own country.

  13. “He knows this and is prying away some Dem voters with this line of attack.” Sean
Yes he is fighting the general Election NOW.. He is taking ALL Hillary’s talking points and making her defend Obama…without GW to blame her game is all on the far left…
The legacy of GW, or Obama, will not change because of Trump… or anyone else

  14. “Y’all are forgetting a key detail:
This election has nothing to do with logical thought.”
Exactly, it’s the American Presidential Popularity Contest. It involves as much ‘logical thought’ as selecting Prom Royalty or Homecoming Queens.

  15. “He knows this and is prying away some Dem voters with this line of attack.” Sean
Yes he is fighting the general Election NOW.. He is taking ALL Hillary’s talking points and making her defend Obama…without GW to blame her game is all on the far left…

  16. I watched trump be completely and utterly calculating. You don’t think the intemperance and outrage presented as frustrated outbursts is real do you? Negotiation 101. Trump has likely played that role 1000 times in his business dealings.
Trump is approaching this like he would any business deal and using the same sorts of tactics.
I agree that all he has done is pulled more dem voters towards him and blunted the lefts attacks by using them first.
Just once I’d like to see the US/NATO go into a war with the intent of laying waste to the enemy and win ing it. Dems did everything they could to undermine the war effort in Iraq and media ably abetted them.
Obama has doubled down on that by disrupting the entire Middle East with his support of radical regimes and his removal of their opponents.
Short of coming right out and stating it, there is little more he could do to help establish an Islamic caliphate through the region.
So spare me your hindsight whinging about Bush. His biggest mistake was not doubling down and finishing the job and not fighting back against his critics.

  17. Various reader polls: Percentage that thought Trump won the debate.

    PolitOpinion 67.7%
    WSJ 71%
    Fox31 62.83%
    CBS 42%
You are right Lance. Trump is a total loser.

  18. Cjunk and 6/4, well said. One thing is sure, it will be an interesting nine months. The American people better pick right or we are all screwed for good.

  19. The experiment hinted at in the extended entry was a success.
Regular readers will recognize all these names…or not.

  20. From the traditional gop wisdom base yes trump sure did blow it. After all it has been policy to circle the wagons on bush and Iraq. Of course, circling the wagons is the standard position of the GOP. Trump doesn’t do defense, which is just as well because he tends to find himself on the outside of the gop’s wagon circle for some reason.

  21. Good analysis SLapshot.
Trump is a hell of a lot smarter than people give him credit for. All they see is Trump firing back, without realizing, what you just said.
They keep underestimating him, but, he didnt become worth 10 Billion by buying lottery tickets or throwing dice.
He’s a strategist beyond words, and people better start paying attention fast. He’s a chess player, 4 moves ahead of everyone else!

  22. Military here also…
    Ask yourself-
If the final chip is down, and a major war standing behind/front of that fence,
Would you want our grandchildren/children fighting with Hillary Clinton as Commander and Chief,
or Donald Trump as Commander and Chief ?
Which one would throw in the towel, with so called popular support,
Withdraw and leave you kids ass swinging in the wind ?
Hillary has already proved her lying cowardice… Benghazi…

  23. Well, I challenge the trillions of dollars, but not the point. After a stunning victory, the US didn’t have a plan of occupation. When things started going pear-shaped, they adjusted strategy and won. The the next government threw all the hard-won gains away.

  24. Seems to me that Trump is not reaching out to former Bush voters, he is trying to attract blue collar Democrats who are dissatisfied with, well, everything. They are not Bush lovers. He believes he will get enough Republican votes merely by running for the GOP and will also get all those so called Reagan Democrats. He is triangulating, as they say. I guess we’ll see.

  25. and Rance, you ain’t smart enough to “blow” it, hang up your computer.
If you “study” the bushes, you’ll find a pretty sordid past, olde prescot wasn’t your good and honourable American. The bushes are fair game!

  26. Give it up Lance. Every time you or anyone else has said “Trump blew it”, his popularity has shot up another notch.
Why don’t you wait until after the SC primary before you make your proclamation. I’m guess by Sunday, you and the other Trump haters will be eating your words – yet again.

  27. If his attacks on GWB were O’Donnell, his attacks on John McCain were Jane Fonda. If he wants to attack McCain’s policies, records, flip flops, etc fine. But I’m old enough to remember when McCain was shot down, his refusal to leave Vietnam because of his father, Jeremiah Denton’s SOS, and the release of the Hanoi Hilton POW’s onto American soil. Most of them were on stretchers attended by medical personnel
I also remember the left’s scorn of those POW’s. I’m not turning my back on the heroism of those POW’s, including McCain. I’m as angry as anyone else here and I agree with much of what he says but I can’t forgive Trump for his hateful disdain of McCain’s bravery.

  28. Late to the debate, but Trump has been very shrewd in bringing out possible Democrat attacks during the general election.
Jeb! took the bait and lashed out at Trump, but Trump was successful in showing how Jeb! would react under fire from an opposition party, not just another Republican candidate.
The more I listen to Trump, the more I get the sense that he’s a classic liberal … fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
That would put him in the category of most Americans and I would guess, most Canadians.

  29. On Feb 26, 1993 Saddam Hussein attempted (but failed) to topple the World Trade Center.
Do you Libertarians believe this is sufficient justification for the US to topple Saddam’s regime? What is your threshold for action?

  30. For all of you who have dealt with business executives, you will recognize Mr. Trump’s statement about Mr. Bush as correct.
For all of you who have never dealt with business executives, Mr. Trump is simply saying that every executive is RESPONSIBLE for whatever happens on his watch.
It doesn’t matter what the previous executive did or didn’t do. He’s gone. The current executive is responsible for whatever happens on his watch, period.
That’s why Barack Hussein Obama II is an incompetent executive. For the first few years of his Presidency, he constantly threw the responsibility for what was happening on HIS watch back to Mr. Bush.

  31. I’ll take Trump over the mess elected to run this country. It’s beyond even any comparison and it’s going to get worse as it goes on. We are not in good hands, not even safe hands.

  32. If Trump said that WMD were found in Iraq, few would believe him, as the media has sold the other line. For similar reasons we see conservatives acknowledge global warming without going full retard and destroying the economy. The liberals have no such compunction. It takes an amazing leader to change public perception but chiseling at it will eventually create conservative progress.

  33. Exactly right Gary. I have worked for men like Trump and he seems very normal to me. He is a man who expects results.

  34. And regarding Ed Driscoll’s mentioned link, perhaps do a little further reading on that same topic:
    http://www.mediaite.com/online/ny-times-wmd-report-does-not-vindicate-iraq-wars/
WMD’s were indeed found later in Iraq, but they were old (1980’s), corroded, and “too degraded to be used as intended in conventional military action”
That’s not to say that Saddam couldn’t have shipped more recent stockpiles out of his country while the countless, pre-war UN security council resolutions dragged on, but there is certainly no proof to back that up.

  35. Trump blew it? lol
    I always supported Bush.
But W never defended himself when it counted.
So why the hell should I care now in the age of Obama?
    Gore EVERYONE’s oxen…!
    Trump 2016!

  36. Sorry Mona.
Read your old books and appreciated your intellect.
But you and national review and Tom Sowell and the rest of the establishment are old news.
your day is done. all talk, no action as progressives like Barry David Hampton run us into the ground.
Eff the Dems. Eff the GOP.

  37. As Malone(Sean Connery) said ‘They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue.”

  38. I wish people would stop dumping on Trump. I found Conrad Black’s defence of Trump to be pretty reasonable. The job at this point is to win the nomination, and so far Trump has done well. I believe he is the ONLY person who can defeat Hillary (something we want at all costs). I like that Trump of some anti- establishment. A Trump victory would be a breath of fresh air in Washington. Getting rid of corrupt insiders is the most important issue.

  39. Trump has to take down JEB in South Carolina or he has to fight both him and Cruz ad infinitum.

  40. Yep! ex-Canadian Military who watched the first Canadian Prima Dona lose to the First Canadian Prime Minister not part of the the Laurentien Elite inheritors of the Family Compact (Upper Canada-now Ontario) and the Chateau Privegle’ge (Lower Canada-Quebec).
The First non-Larentien Elite P.M. John Diefenbaker was defeated by the Craven, bought-off Eastern Smeredia.— The next generation of Craven, bought-off Eastern Smearedia just defeated the Second Prime Minister not part of the Laurentien Elite.—-P.M. Stephen Harper. —-The scurrilous next generation Smearedia also put in place a Prima Dona.
