  1. there is not much that can be said about such stupidity. the best thing would be to ignore it.

  2. Having to read it in English is highly offensive to me.
As a person who has appropriated much of English culture, I demand you not assign the wrong interpretation to what I just said.

  3. What an embarrassing piece of drivel. That a university would publish something so infantile and condescending speaks volumes about its twisted sense of purpose and the assumption it has made about the intellectual capacity of its charges.

  4. At the very end they use the term “Education Camp” as a means to learn more. If we let this terminolgy become mainstream then we’re hooped. When I hear ‘education camp’ I think of the movie the “Killing Fields” How’d that work out?

  5. If these various forms of queer have their way I suspect that this is where we are headed.
I self identify as one who loathes those who would make neuters of all of us.

  6. There is a plausible argument that a fringe of university students have always been a bit on the radical/silly/stupid side. So, this new movement may not be as huge a deal as it’s being made out to be. OTOH, there’s the precautionary principle. According to this we must consider a salvage operation. Rescue the important departments and let the others muck around in their own feces.
Obviously, this means rescuing the STEMs – science, technology, engineering, mathematics. Leave the Humanities, Social Sciences and pretty much everything that ends in science and studies to wallow and protest. No economists either. They may be math based but the SJW overlay has tainted them.
Put the STEMS with the polythechnic colleges. An engineer or scientist has more in common with applied sciences and trades than gender studies or psychology student anyway. Soft science classes needed for a degree can be taken online. It’s not like you need to be there in person for those classes, there’s no labs. As a bonus, with online classes you could demand better choices and could choose a prof who is not an SJW, PC or Pomo idiot. No cry bullies harassing STEMs, better profs. Win win.
Eventually, as the university radicals eat their own and sane parents quit wasting money, university numbers will dwindle. Perhaps they will return to classical education and behaviour standards at a reasonable cost to survive.
    Starve the beast.

  7. If anyone thinks Political Correctness is not a threat to free speech, invented entirely by the ideological left, reading this list should demonstrate otherwise. I fear if/when Trump leaves the stage, no one will be left to fight the fight against these self-righteous bigots.
I will never understand a system that is openly against whites, men, conservatives, etc yet claims to stand voraciously against any kind of bigotry. That CBC scum Penner’s comments about Harper are a prime example of how the hypocritical left don’t even hesitate to let their own bigotries cross the line into hate. Yet, express any safety concerns about the LPC’s agendized immigration policies and you are branded an Islamophobe.
Since this ideology has taken root throughout our education systems, bureaucracies, governments, unions, media, etc, etc the left has created a continent-wide echo chamber that is squelching ANY alternate reasoning.

  8. No spine, gutless administration working towards building a co-dependancy and enlarging their ranks.

  9. “Person first language – Use person first language when speaking about persons with disabilities. Person first language, such as saying “Person with a Disability” rather than using expressions like “handicapped,” or “challenged,” emphasizes that the person is more important than the disability.”
The person-idiot who contrived this barbarism is an employee of an alleged university. No doubt it was approved by endless committees of alleged academics and other social workers. They are not harmless fools we may safely ignore. They are monsters. They have destroyed the Academy, one of our most valuable institutions. They have destroyed its intellectual foundations, arguably the finest flower of the Enlightenment.
It is difficult to see how Western civilization can recover. A first step would be to shutter the universities, purge their administrations and faculties, and try them for their crimes against civilization. An academic Nuremberg.
Let me know if see any signs of progress.

  10. And guy by the name of Orwell wrote about this at about 1948.
He proposed that people would be watched on the street and at home with TV.
He wrote that there will be ministry of truth. The sole purpose of this ministry would be to rewrite history on daily basis.
He wrote that there would be new language the Newspeak.
    Is this book banned?
    We are just another there.

  11. LC,
If you think the sciences are immune from this idiocy, you are, sadly, mistaken.
If you think the sciences have flourished and would continue to flourish without the discipline of philosophy, you are mistaken.
The problem with the Academy is not that has a clown quarter that may easily be excised. The problem is foundational. Neither the sciences nor the Academy itself can survive without that foundation.

  12. I disagree. The people going into STEMs, trades and applied science and technology have different traits than those going into gender studies, philosophy or political science. Without the yoke of political correctness, safe spaces, speech codes, affirmative action and all the rest, the hard sciences would be set free. Research money would still continue but lower administration and other overhead costs associated with the pricey university system would allow more money to go to actual research.
Engineering students working with mechanics and electricians would gain more insights than working with a psychology student perusing a better understanding of the psychological impact of the colonial patriarchy on transgendered indigenous peoples, for example. To your point – I doubt modern philosophy, unlike classical philosophy, increases the value of the hard sciences in any way.

  13. “In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is…in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.” – Theodore Dalrymple

  14. Another advantage: diversity. I’d argue that diversity, true diversity of thought, background, culture, politics, social advantage/disadvantage is better reflected at polytechnical colleges than at most universities. Universities have become a monoculture without any tolerance of real diversity or deviation from the orthodoxy. Science doesn’t flourish in a puritanical environment.

  15. Thank you for the Dalrymple quotation. I find it interesting the THE LIST contains MISOGYNY but not MISANDRY. D’yall think THE LIST could have been developed by a Women’s Study Committee? Smirk & Chuckle.

  16. I will never stop using the language I learned as I grew up in the 40s and 50s. It’s my language, it’s my time, it’s my life, I own it and I use it. I will never submit to politically correct speech to merely avoid humiliation or ridicule. I am one of those fortunate folks who doesn’t need the approval of others. That is why I was self employed and independent my who life to this point.
This PC shit will eventually pass because it’s not consistent with human nature … period.

  17. Euphemisms come and go and they can be helpful. For example most people now use a term like “mentally disabled” instead of “retarded”. There’s often nothing wrong with this since it’s kinder. “Retarded” is so often used as an insult that it seems hurtful to apply it to the cognitively impaired.
Unfortunately the main purpose of this dictionary of euphemisms for university students is to force all students to act and think like liberals and leftists. Their motives are partially well-meaning in that they want to produce a better world. However, since they want to impose their views on all of us, and since their ideologies have made them loons mentally ill persons with a psychiatric disability, let’s hope their utopia never happens.

  18. Their motives are partially well-meaning in that they want to produce a better world.
Everybody wants to save the world but nobody wants to help Mom do the dishes.
    – P.J. O’Rourke

  19. I fail to see how euphemisms will make a better world. They just obscure the truth. When I was growing up there was a “Home for the Retarded” and a “Crippled Children’s Centre” in our community. They did a damn fine job of taking care of the afflicted ones. I’m on board with J in this regard. I will use the language I learned in the 40’s & 50’s. I’ve lived too long to have to re-think what I’m going to say in case I offend someone’s tender ears.

  20. Don’t put words in my mouth. I didn’t say “euphemisms will make a better world.” I said, “Unfortunately the main purpose of this dictionary of euphemisms for university students is to force all students to act and think like liberals and leftists.”
The enforcing of political correctness as in this case is clearly bad, and I said so, but that doesn’t mean every euphemism is bad. Language changes, sometimes to spare people’s feelings or for ordinary politeness. You probably use euphemisms yourself. It’s just that some are now so established that you aren’t even aware you are doing it.
Did you teach your children, assuming you have any, to use the words derived from the old Anglo-Saxon for going to the bathroom? “Piss” is even in older versions of the Bible but on their first day of school if you told them to ask their teacher if they could take one, their experience there must have been interesting.
If one of your children were retarded and another a cripple, would it do any harm to refer to them as mentally or physically disabled? If your wife developed dementia but someone called her condition “Alzheimers” would you correct them and insist they call her “senile?”

  21. So if you are teaching mentally handicapped kindergartners, and one of them is slightly late for class…
Are you allowed to call him a little tardy?

  22. Good one! I haven’t read much by P.J. O’Rourke but what I’ve seen was funny and made sense too. Here are a couple more quotes from him I found online.
“The good news is that, according to the Obama administration, the rich will pay for everything. The bad news is that, according to the Obama administration, you’re rich.”
“Bill Clinton is not a hypocrite. If a man believes that it is just and moral to redistribute wealth, there is nothing hypocritical in his attempts to redistribute some of that wealth to himself.”

  23. Best line yet Fraizer! And in the same meme, if said child does it a second time, is he a little re-tardy? (ripped off your line but I couldn’t resist….)

  24. “Their motives are partially well-meaning in that they want to produce a better world.”
I disagree. These people do not want to produce a better world, just one in which THEY have way more power. They have the mentality of the Commissars who bedevilled the poor bastards who had to make the Soviet system work. The Commissars never actually did anything, just stood about waiting for someone to make a counter-revolutionary remark, then they’d be “reported” and could end up in prison or dead.
THAT is what these types want, unearned but almost total power over their fellow citizens.

  25. MCH, Dalrymple’s insight is brilliant. It’s too good to be false. Surely he’s right that once you become complicit in the big lie, you lose your self-respect, and with it your right to resist further lies.
However, there’s also something wrong about it. Even in Stalinist Russia the strategy worked only for a time. The subjects eventually saw through the lies and resisted. Did they eventually tumble to the strategy? I dunno.
(By the way, “Cool long gun, Syed”—priceless!)

  26. You might be right. I did say partially well-meaning but that probably applies better to the indoctrinated students than to those doing the indoctrinating. Still, it’s possible even some of the Soviet Commissars truly believed the delusion that they were going to create a socialist paradise, at least at first.

  27. Thanks, nick. I’m quite proud of coming up with that one, myself 🙂 …
And I know the communists eventually failed because their oppressive ideology went against human nature, but I’d rather not have my children and grandchildren go through the approaching awful decades before the progressives’ current attempt fails once more. Reagans and Thatchers and Churchills and Charles Martels do come along eventually, but many suffer and die before they do.

  28. I mostly use “First Nations” and not “Indian”, but Hell will freeze over before I ask someone, “What are your pronouns?”
I noticed Islamophobia was missing from their list. Someone in the diversity department will have to be shamed for the oversight.

  29. Religion was one of the shorter lists containing 11 definitions. Of those 3 specifically refer to Islam, 2 definitions refer to people who have no opinion or disbelieve religion and two definitions are associated with Jewish culture. The only definition with a mention of Christianity is the very first one in the list that centers the meaning around the LGBT crowd…of course.
Great example of self-loathing in a school that should have an overwhelmingly Christian population but chooses to hide it in plain sight. Then again writing out the base definitions about Christianity in such list would cause conflict that would interfere with the “safe spaces” for those not equipped to discuss idea disparity. Better to continue the white-wash project in the U-of-Ponyville to grow the lies big enough so everyone has no choice but to believe.
