  1. Republicans vs. the great unwashed:

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell declared he would not entertain nominating any non-traditional Mainstream Republican candidates in the 2016 election cycle and cautioned voters they are to follow his example..”

  2. now THAT is pure Republicanism. its twin is Conservatism. the telltale sign is a party run by demagogues bent on concentrating power in the hands of a few select males.
2 recent Canuckistan examples are the Harper regime, he the bully that fired or demoted anyone not toeing HIS line, and Harris on ontariariario who, for example, REDUCED the number of ridings despite the fact populations on average increase.
the electoral college system dovetails quite well with that objective. republicans would fiercely oppose any reform to address the distortions caused by the electoral college system. demagogues all of them.

  3. Neither Harper nor Harris were demagogues. That’s just a leftist slur. They were strong leaders who happen to be male. Margaret Thatcher is another example of a strong leader.
And just out of curiosity, can you tell us who is running the government now that the Liberals are in charge? Does anybody know? Is it the UN? This is a problem when you have a weak leader.

  4. This is exactly why they want to nominate a “non-mainstream candidate”. I hope McConnell goes down too.

  5. Exactly. Who is running the country is the big question with no answer. Trudeau is the main distraction from a party that was not, is not, ready to govern. They’re handling things badly, like rank amateurs. The “refugee” file is one example as is the fight against ISIS on which they’re flying by the arse of their pants.
It was quite the show as the first of the “refugees” arrived, no mention of the fact theses were the ones screened by the Conservatives.

  8. Agreed. Now we have government by the goofy election promises of Justin Trudeau. That’s his vision, whatever stupidity came out of his mouth – increasing deficits letting budgets balance themselves, again stabbing the military in the back reversing the CF35 decision, following Kyoto and other such global swarming nonsense, changing without the majority consent of the people our voting system, bringing in 2.5X the US Syrian refugee plans in way less time, and of course raising our taxes for our own good to get us out of our mid income crisis. I still can’t quite accept the idea this country’s voters have elected him. He will the same old statist follies like “investing in infrastructure” and other exercises of waste and financial abomination. How long will the public wisdom be the high handed and spending governments are more virtuous and wise than responsible government? How bad will they have to get hurt before they rise up and change the system? AB is a question but the answer, if one looks at AB, isn’t encouraging.

  9. This whole Canadian multi-culti thing is getting so ridiculous. The Canadian (can I even use that term anymore) contestant for Miss Universe was wearing a dress that had totem images on it. First Nations are outraged. Turns out she is from the Dominican Republic and was depicting her own heritage. A Quick search will reveal that totems are also part of Dominican culture.
    http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/unfortunately-theres-been-a-tremendous-misunderstanding-miss-universe-canada-carved-over-totem-pole-outfit
Maybe First Nations should start worrying more about the cultural appropriations their own people are engaging in, like the gangsta wannabes that murdered the Mac’s clerks in Edmonton last week.

  10. This current regime of Fiberals is the most inept bunch of hustlers and incompetents ever elected, and, those appointed to cabinet are rank embarassments for their lack of acumen. Its all about, once again, SYMBOLISM. That’s all that Fiberals care about is how Symbolic their actions are,its not about being effective, as for them, the effectiveness of their decisions is ALWAYS perfect….because they say so. The reality of course is much different.
The Canadian public, at least that 10-15% of swing voters that really count, will care in 4 years times, when:
-Their taxes are way up (CPP, EI, GST, Income Tax, Carbon Tax, Justin Tax, new Liberal Tax, etc)
-The dollar remains at Peso levels. These citizens will be tired of either paying a fortune for their American trips, or missing them, due to the Peso.
-Their kids remain unemployed, or underemployed, as instead of working at career jobs, they are doing the Starbucks/Sobeys/Restaurant/Best Buy/Walmart/Retail rotation of dead end jobs. Resource jobs will not return, as either they cause Glowbull Warming, or they destroy Mother Gaia. The plebes need to feel good about their poverty, saving Gaia will be the excuse.
-High Interest Rates, causing bankruptcies, and declining house values. A very nice problem to hang around Fiberal necks.
I look forward to four years forward. The Fibs popularity will disappear, their incompetence will be clear to see by all, thanks to Minister Johnnie Walker and his cabal of corrupt pals. It will be a mess for them, and it will look good. Remember, the Conservatives maintained a 30% vote, its only getting back 10% that’s required, and its far from impossible.
Fib support is a mile wide, and an inch deep.

  11. National Post has a video of Trudeau packing Christmas baskets. I did not watch it. Does this guy do ANYTHING besides photo-ops? Who the heck is running the country? (Maybe I should not ask.) Does he not need to get up-to-speed on policies, the economy? His lack of engagement is increasingly apparent. When will Libs start to be embarrassed to have this pretty-boy dilettante at the helm?? (Maybe I should not ask.) Libs have never had much of a critical eye for their own lack of competence.

  12. A potential problem is that the Liberals attacked Conservative policies relentlessly — even those that were very good for the country and the economy;. (The transparency stuff, for example.) So now their default position seems to be to undo much of what was done under Harper. Have they killed the Mother and Child health initiative yet? Will they be getting rid of human rights legislation applying on reserves? When will they be bringing back the penny? They really have no policies of their own — just catering to special interest groups.

  13. AND — once the Duffy thing winds up, they must certainly pay back Nigel’s money since it was such a great scandal that this was given to Duffy. Duffy is accused of taking a bribe. If yes, then certainly the Government of Canada should not be profiting from a Senator’s bribe.
