dont knock academics. it does in fact provide a foundation for better things, its just so many university fodders blow their chance by getting drunk *before* the exams.
the thing of it is, you dont REQUIRE *any* academic qualifications in the theories, juggling act, historical background, case study etc of political events to get into politics. conservatives do it by going into business and wind up promoting trade ‘deals’ that favour big business. liberals do it by getting into social services and community organizing. new democraps do it by getting into union organizing.

if you’v ever had or run a small business this would be personal knowledge to you. Just about all gov’t departments work like this, it’s so frustrating. But if you do not call them back they threaten you with the force of state. The whole system is ass backwards, and has been so for a long time.

Well….my confidence level just went from zero to zero. Somehow I still remember how all departments were going to improve co-ordination after 9/11. Seems like the enemy took that advice but empire building got in the way on this side.
C’mon. I think this administration is reprehensible on a number of fronts (ok, I can’t think of any where it ain’t so…), but this witness was sandbagged. If you want detailed information such as what was asked, tell the witness in advance what is expected. This was political grandstanding.
