1. The U-boat campaign was very successful at sinking oil tankers though. They weren’t the size of current tankers, but if current environmental activists are right about how toxic crude oil is then there should be no life left in the Gulf of Mexico.
   The shelling of on-shore California oil production within the first couple of months after Pearl Harbour no doubt fuelled the concern of invasion, being (along with the actions on Niihau Island – sorry for the spelling) one of the reasons for the internment American citizens of Japanese decent.

5. As I understand it, Canada drafted plans to invade the United Stares and vise versa. Have not seen the plans, but at least they would not depend on a navy that largely did not exist.
