Canada’s longest campaign season in recent history will conclude Monday night, much to the delight of politics-weary citizens and even wearier political journalists.
“It’s been a long, endless 11 weeks,” said Gloria Galloway, a veteran political reporter for the Globe and Mail, based in Toronto.
Wait, what? Eleven weeks?

Update: Election results data at Elections Canada.

Make a pot of coffee. it’s going to be a long night. As for coverage do yourself a favor and stay away from CBC. They’re orgasming over there and are already picking out curtains for the PMO. There will be curtains for the rest of us, later.
What all those Liberal voters down East don’t realize is that Trudeau and buds will so trash the Western Canadian economy that there will be no more transfer payments.
At least the Jays are kicking ass.
With a wave like this, maybe at least Tommie the Commie will lose his seat.
CBC had the Libs elected in 30 and leading in 3. Now all of a sudden they’re only leading in 23 and leading in 8.
A GOLDEN RULE of Journalism should be that you don’t declare someone elected until there is no statistical chance of them not be. Ughhhhh
I never thought the Libs would do that WELL in the Maritimes.
It is Liberal/DIP territory, but wow.
If the libs win 30 in Quebec … time to look at travel pamphlets.
The CBC has just forecast a Liberal gov’t, at least a minority.
The F87kers, the B.C. polls are still open.
Time for a triple Glayva.
To maintain your sanity, tune in to CPAC for balanced coverage.
The dreck on CBC/CTV is nauseous!!
A perfect storm is on the horizon, once Obama finishes destroying the states and becomes king of the world via the U.N. say goodbye to our sovereignty while P.M. Paris Hilton stands by and counts his dough.
Lord Moncton warned that the UN wanted Harper gone. ( he had our election dates wrong)
They got Tony Abbott our without an election.
Get ready for Agenda 21.
Looks like the maritimes and newfie voted for a long, hard drag on the welfare teat again. Scarcely any surprise there.

“Also, Elections Canada saw fit to quietly change a fair few long-term polling stations to new locations. Found ours (happened on change by accident) and asked why”
I found our polling station the same way. Opened the elections Canada envelope(which goes to ALL registered voters) and THERE IT WAS-the location where I could vote. It was different than what I had used in the past for both Provincial and municipal election but it was there QUITE plainly.
Maybe someone should have come to your door and said “now Mr .Francis, I want you to sit down and get comfortable because I have some very important information for you. And I will say it slowly for you so you fully understand. Y O U R V O T I N G S T A T I O N H A S C H A N G E D.”
Your starting to sound like a progressive wanting the govt to do EVEYTHING for you including think,
The Mari-times have always been the beggar provinces , they have no shame.Only this time they voted for the Devil, nothing good will ensue for them. They haven’t figured out yet that compared to the immigrant invasion there second class citizens. This is not the canada of oldd where you could loot the producers. They have been slowly eliminated.
Dear God they’re going to win a majority. Over 150 leading or elected now. They’re even way ahead in Quebec. Add the Vancouver vote and a few extras & it’s all over.
I have never been more disgusted by my fellow citizens. Never.
Looks like the Hair is heading for a majority. Yikes, it’s going to be a rough 4-5 years.
It looks like Olivia Chow didn’t get in. Small mercy.
Looks like the gig is up. Liberals passing into majority territory as I thumb. Best to watch hockey and baseball or get outdoors for a couple of weeks until the gloating, mocking, and endless victory laps die down a bit.
I told Ms. Bart four years ago that whatever the outcome in 2016 I was grateful for 10 years of solid governance.
There’ll be another time.
Bart
Pat Martin looks defeated too.
This brings back memories of November 2012. I was dumbfounded that Barack Obama won re-election.
You have my deepest condolences.
All those years wasted on not selling CBC.
It was the escalator ad. Why didn’t Harper think of that.
My sentiments can be found here;

Mexico is looking very attractive.
I am now officially apolitical … I have voted in my last election. The people of Canada are too stupid and naive to be concerned about. I have my jelly donut so I don’t care … It’s too hard on the head. Y’all are on her own from here in.
I can’t believe of all the Orange idiots that got swept in last time. Ruth Ellen Brasseau got easily reelected while Tommie the Commie has a 35 vote lead.
2Tim 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
Well, perilous times just kicked the door down.
So does this mean Canada has only come out of recession when Justin was elected?
What’s the difference? Liberal majority or Liberal minority? Even if the Liberals get a minority, they will be propped up by the NDP at every turn in return for certain favours. By my way of thinking, as distasteful as it is, at least the NDP won’t have any say over how our money is misspent.
Harper should have sold the CBC when he had the chance. So now the CBC is about to get an extra 150 million of our hard earned tax dollars.
To the idiots who voted for the gibbering boy. You’ve just inflicted weakness and economic disaster on this once great nation. My only solace is that you’re going suffer right along with the rest of us you slavering fools. You’ve heard the saying “careful what you wish for you just might get it”? Well you’ve got what you wished for.
VIA rail and Canada Post too.
At least the liberal sweep got rid of Fantino and a bunch of Tommy commies – now its time to rebuild – return to a grass roots party, select a leader with passion and charisma who attracts people to the libertarian-right message and small government idealism – build coalitions and make voters aware of the futility of big government debt slavery.
Freedom and economic liberty are attractive ideals, you need the right public image to get this message out – Harper failed – we deserve better – let’s get to work right now rebuilding this party.
Warren. In the same way that Obama blamed Bush for four years, Justin will blame Harper and he will be supported by the media. It’s a lose, lose, lose, catch 22 scenario.
The only consolation is that it will hurt those who voted liberal just as much as everyone else. I’m interested to see how Trudeau asks the rich to give more in taxes.
True words Occam. We need to rebuild and use the lefts tactics against them. Make lots of noise over the next 4 years!
I am signing as a member again.
Zombies now in the House.
That’s it, nothing for it now.

And it is also time for us to poop Skittles and fart rainbows and hump flying unicorns.
I am finally with The Captain — ride along and enjoy the decline.
So am I xiat – this party went off the rails when it was hijacked by “professional politicians” and fixers at the Montreal policy convention – from that poit it rebuilt the top-down PC operational mode with the caucus paying no attention to the party members an riding captains.
The west was alienated from the “big tent” when Harper booted wesyern populists for Quebec cab mins and PMO wonks which never translated into broader support in PQ.
The whole harper entourage has to go – Wild Rosers and Wall Cons – get your ass into this party at an exec level.
Great comment on another forum, to a Yank:
“…today is election day, and I have very little hope of our getting the sane, smart, mature, economically (and Islamically) savvy Conservatives back in power.
We Canucks by and large are among the world’s most easily led people. We’re so f*cking POLITE that we were the perfect testbed for every politically correct idiot ideology to come down the pike from the USA; we revel in our ability to bend over and twist ourselves in knots avoiding offending anyone – even murdering savages. US-style radical leftists (and many actual Americans) have infiltrated every walk of life and feed the media and academia (like they need any help) their talking points.
Encouraging my son to think about maybe Switzerland as a place to attend Uni and get citizenship. Hell – anywhere but here. Good luck to us all – as long as Western governments are as spineless as they are now and fall over themselves pleasing retarded hippie druggie scum and their journalist mouthpieces, we are DOOMED.”
Well, all I can say is that some folks just have to learn the hard way.
Lizzie speaks… thinks she’s relevant….silly bitch…
Now go chew a poplar.
Stephen Harper will probably announce his retirement.
I’m hoping Kenny runs and wins the leadership race.
I cannot fathom Canadians electing such a bimbo as Jr, on such petty, contrived reasoning. If I have trouble, what of allies and democratic partners? Not to mention Our enemies. Canada must surely be the world’s laughing stock tomorrow.
Yes indeed. That’s always been a left wing tactic. Do something stupid? Blame the previous administration. The MSM will back it.
One thing worth investigating would be whether the NDP got snookered by that “strategic voting initiative” cuz it seems like all the strategic votes went red not orange.
Another key to the future is that this new government is loaded down with lawyers and prosecutors. That plus C-51 adds up to big trouble for anyone with an opinion right of “Tommie the Commie” in this country.
And Tommie is not half the commie that Justin’s dad was. Not even close.
Good luck, now you probably see why C-51 was a bad idea. But it might take six months.
But Martin, don’t forget: “Canadians are sitting around worried about their jobs because we have a prime minister who doesn’t like Barack Obama”!
Thank God Obama is Generalissimo and President For Life, because now we have a PM who’s just a bleached clone of him. Whew, I can stop worrying about my job!
Ah well, now we at least get to finally find out what he actually stands for and plans to do. Sharia anyone?
It so hard to believe isn’t it? It like something right out of bizarro world.
I agree. Hopefully Kenny takes the leadership.
Yes. I can’t quit or just say “F” it. I’m not a quitter and I think if we care about more than just our own hurt feelings(and Yes I’m hurting and I know my living in the Alberta energy industry is in sure jeopardy) the only way I can stay sane is to stand up for what I know is right and to cowboy up.
Principles are principles whether you’re winning or losing and the truth is the truth whether everyone believes it or only just one man.
I am very sad tonight. But tomorrow is another day and the sun is going to rise and I’m going to meet the new day with a new purpose.
I love all of you at SDA,(thank you Kate, Your Blog ROCKS) stay strong, fear not, and God save the Queen.
Yes a lot of people can relax as things are back as they should be under Liberal central Canada control. One first item for Jr will be the return of the census longform, what a priority for Canada.
Or, maybe like Mr. Dithers he will have so many priorities, he won’t know where to begin. If he filled half the things he promised, the country would truly be bankrupted.
Looks like the Laurentian elite were tired of not having their place at the trough…let the looting begin.
The real story here is the complete collapse of the NDP in Quebec in favour of the LIEberals.
My local conservative candidate is back in, but the Quebec/Ontario Librano power brokers are back.
Didn’t have any use for True-Dope-ia’s ‘plan’ and it will only get worse as the full impact is visited upon ordinary Canadians.
I expect ZERO good out of this next government.
Cheers
