Regardless of the outcome at tomorrow’s polls, in an environment in which a lie about a Conservative gets halfway round the world before the Liberals and their media bedpartners can finish their cigarettes — whose idea was it to put the pooping puffin crew back on the campaign payroll?
Open thread.

I nominate Mr Mem for Jackass of the year. If elected he will have the full moral authority to govern over all the like-minded half-wits for whom he speaks.
My better half lives in a seniors home while our home is temporarily under repair.(yeah,I’m younger. As she likes to say,she didn’t rob the cradle, she killed the stork). Any how, 338 seniors live there. I have personally driven 130 to advance polling, and will be driving many more tomorrow. This is a forgotten part of our society. I don’t ask or care who they are voting for, unless asked for, they just want to get out and vote. Something instilled in them years ago. They are proud to live in a country where they are even ALLOWED to vote. I sit around and talk to so many of them, from socialist/communist countries, and their stories are horrifying. I consider it a privilege and honour to drive them so they can vote. And yeah, I’m a vet, so I know something about honour, and how easily it can be destroyed by a ruling party. Even if you don’t want to vote tomorrow, drive someone there who does!
Its not the big players like Exxon and Royal Dutch Shell and Trudeau’s Petro Canada we’re worried about. Its all the Jr.’s and the service companies etc.
The #1 half wit here is you chuckles.
I’m about to put my foot through the TV and the 24/7 Harper bashing that has taken place by the networks. I’m thinking there really needs to be some blow-back over the biased reporting and the best way to do that would be to contact those that purchase advertising and tell them under no circumstances will I spend my conservative dollars on their product/business. Are ya with me SDA’ers?
A letter writing campaign to CTV demanding Fife and Oliver be fired would also something to consider…Shiny Pony will probably be offering them Senate seats on Tuesday anyways…
Bell Media owns CTV and if you are a Bell customer it might be a good time to take your business elsewhere…just be sure to tell them why.
Spawn doesn’t need any more competition for being the head of the half wits.
Besides, if he corrupts/flukes out a win, he will be the world personification of the Peter Principle.
We can refer to him as Prime Minister Peter. It will drive his handlers and fartcatchers bonkers.
Let’s hope his cronies and fixers haven’t gamed the election, although the Media Guild has done their part, corrupt deceitful partners they are.
“The #1 half wit here is you chuckles.”
In the land of the witless, the half-wit is king.
Kneel before your new king, witless.
So all your fellow cons are witless. Thanks for pointing out what we already know.
I never said I was a ‘con’ (whatever that is), I merely stated that you are witless. Do try to keep up, and don’t read into something that which isn’t there.
If he does he’ll be taking a cue from the Con playbook when Duffy at the last minute went negative on Dion and then got a senate seat a few weeks later. Well, we all know how that worked out.
Trudeau has fumbled since day one. Who in his right mind would go into debt on the word of a guy who has never had to handle ANY budget?
And did everyone forget Trudeau “parkas, not bombs”, his defense of Islamists and his love for a dictatorship that aids another dictatorship?
Harper may not be perfect but he is not evil. Anyone who characterises him as such clearly votes with hatred, not intelligence.
Okay Okay you win the festering little ingrown hair contest too. …and…. I’ll bet you are a hero at those smelly Occupy protests. Charmer.
You are a smart fellow. You don’t say you are a con. Smart move. Hail to the king baby!
Must read from Theo Caldwell:http://www.therebel.media/justin_trudeau_is_canada_s_barack_obama
Our 18 and 20 year old kids are first time voters this year. My daughter, husband and I voted early. My son will vote at his university, the one Rick Mercer visited to encourage the kids to vote…for “change”. Even my son was off-put with the voter manipulation. Anyway, our house counts for 4 votes for Harper.
Guys, when you don’t respond to it, it withers.
Osumashi
Dopesters, that’s who. They are the dynamic in this election, we shall see if they have the effect. Trudope’s promise to legalize (and his unsaid promise to heavily tax it) may draw single issue dopester yutes into voting. I have my doubts, dopesters are typically clueless, which can also make them dangerous, due to their lack of understanding anything not surrounding marijuana (speaking from a mis-spent youth).
As far as his parkas and toques strategy…its astounding to here such simplistic drivel and nonsense, he’s essentially calling for group hugs! The idiot! He wants to the PM of group hugs! The banal blatherings of this irrresponsible and inexperienced putz is incredible.
The US picked their own banal, inexperienced putz in OBlahblah, seems that the left here is still infatuated with picking their own half-wit to lead the half-wit generation
Can someone explain the appeal of one Mr Mercer, of the Corpse?
Is it because he’s a Maritimer with a nasally whining accent?
Is it because he’s sorta gay?
Is it because he dresses funny?
Is it because he guttersnipes with backhanded compliments?
is it because he’s supposed to be funny, as the canned laughter suggests that he should be?
Or has he got seniority, so he can just fake it, and collect a six figure cheque? Ah, the sinecure of unionized seniority.
Kinda goes with the territory, there hasn’t been much to laugh about the Corpse for many years, except for how inept and expensive the whole enterprise is, for the little it delivers.

Mercer stood up for Ezra.
Ha ha, well played!
Our offsprings are younger than M Trudeau but they each have much more substantive resumes than the Liberal leader. Unfortunately, they are all in positions to be adversely affected should we see a Liberal/NDP government We’ve been organizing our own affairs so we will be in a position to keep everyone afloat – and think ourselves fortunate to be in the position to so do.
Try to keep up, that article has been dealt with for the sour grapes crap it is, assuming anybody cares, which they don’t.
Oh F&*K
I was trashing the Huffpo, not supporting them.
You don’t get much right,do you?
In my riding of Ottawa-Vanier, the change-wanters will vote for change by electing the incumbent for at least the fourth time.
I agree with you both. Hope you are right BC about media spin. The comments blackout has been very frustrating. Will be interesting to see what they do on Tuesday. Hope Canadians, undecided and otherwise, think long and hard who they would want leading our Country right now with tensions in the middle east flaring up, uncertainty state side in the Presidential race, and the economy in Alberta which will effect the Country’s overall economy. This is going to be a tough winter.
I think it played out differently then you planned!
Mr Mem: You are so wrong it is the other way around. Adsam Shawinnigate ring a bell. Pierre E. Trudeau and NEP. Unemployment abound!!
mercer is not funny. He is cbc funny. There is a difference. He would not make it as a comedian on the circuit. You have to be an ‘insider’ in order to get the jokes. The laugh tracks tell you when to laugh.
He isn’t sort of gay.
Amen.
Look after your interests FIRST.
Let the lemmings head to their fate.
Now THAT’S funny!
Lyn, it won’t remember things like that, it was in diaper then, and is in diapers now. Facts don’t matter to delusional trolls.
He’s just in it for his Dilbert candidate
If this does not go well, I could point to three key mistakes made by the CPC …
1. Showing profound disrespect to the civil libertarians in the C-51 hearings more or less ended any chance that this independent-minded voting group would consider voting Conservative. There aren’t enough votes in the base to guarantee electoral success. This tended to remind a lot of less partisan onlookers of the ongoing nasty streak in the overly authoritarian Conservative Party. A change in emphasis on these issues is absolutely needed if the CPC is not to sink into deep opposition.
2. Playing the niqab card was ultimately a bad idea because it did nothing to attract needed swing voters, it just pushed the NDP down in Quebec so if the Liberals end up winning with 20-30 seats in Quebec, you’ll see this was a bone-headed election issue.
3. Longer term, and I tried to warn of this two years ago, the ceaseless negative advertising campaign against a popular and media-supported Justin Trudeau was futile and created the wrong paradigm (watch this guy screw up) when the right paradigm was always check the fine print.
Now, it may well be that the results will not be so bad. I don’t necessarily believe the polls or the media cheerleading. For one thing, it is equally negative towards the NDP who are seen as the poor cousins of the chattering classes. Maybe the NDP will do better than expected, as well.
We do need to have a very searching look at conservative political priorities regardless. My belief is that this party is not the gold standard of conservatism, and could do considerably better. The main problem is a lack of clarity about how we are different and therefore better than progressives. The message has always been a muddy one, sort of like this — we will pretend to be a little bit progressive and mind the economy, and that will be good enough. Well it was when the alternatives were as uninspiring as Dion and Iggy. Now, not so much. And sure, JT is a bag of hot air. But the problem has been this — when you focus on making mistakes and not on being mistaken, what if the guy just straight lines and continues to be the mistake but not to make new mistakes? Then your message is screwed.
Sorry to inject content into this bun fight, now go back to slinging with that Liberal troll. He clearly has nothing better to do.
I have to smile when I read comments about corruption in the election process.
My wife is working at the polls this election for election Canada. She has all the stuff at home-ballots, voting booth, list of eligible voters and all the rules and regulation.
I find it very hard to believe that the vote could be rigged at any polling station. People come in, have to show ID(the ladies with bags on their heads notewithstanding) are checked to see if they are on the voters list, are handed a NUMBERED ballot, mark the ballot and place it in the ballot box. At the end of the day ballots are tabulated and accounted for and cross referenced in a number of ways to ensure that ONLY those eligible get to vote. All the numbers MUST add up. My wife is only one of many people in the polling station and for skuldugery to occur many people would have to be in on it. Not to mention that EACH candidate has a scuteneer in attenance.
Now the corrupt media, well thats another story.
Good so ask your wife how it is possible to vote in a mask?
How does elections Canada intend to respond if a thief votes using anothers ID, when the real Voter turns up?
Sorry we cannot identify the fraudster cause we never even bothered to look at them?
By the way, is that numbered ballot recorded against the voters name?
I will check tomorrow to see if that number is also on the part I mark.
Naturally we have to trust the persons manning the elections booths, otherwise there is no reason vote.
In my opinion Elections Canada needs to tighten up their act and be seen to be above the partisan fray.
Which the full time appointees seem have to fallen into.
Yeh, West Block is a waste of time, hard left all the time.
” Playing the niqab card was ultimately a bad idea because it did nothing to attract needed swing voters, ” I will never agree that the niqab issue was a mistake. The issue came up BEFORE the election, but just happened to also emerge in the court case during the election. It is NOT o.k. to cover your face at the instant of embracing Canadian Citizenship. Harper is right on this (and on the loss of citizenship for terrorists), and it is the media and left that have exploited these issues. On these particular issues, I thin that Harper has the moral high ground.
As for attack ads — it is easy to complain in retrospect, but the ads talking about Justin not ready hit a key point that voters should be aware of. It is an obvious problem for Liberals. Justin is not capable — so who exactly will be running the show. Cons cannot be blamed if many chose to look the other way and carry on as though there is not problem. It is a BIG problem and if the situation does not turn around tomorrow, the country will pay the price.
Since when has it become a policy to feed mindless trolls here?
A concerning poll from Ipsos Reid. http://www.ipsos-na.com/news-polls/pressrelease.aspx?id=7031 I cannot see an upside to such a wide gap with Libs in the lead at this late stage — even though it is hard to understand how Canadians could be so deluded in their support for the unqualified Justin Trudeau and the discredited Liberal Party. It is totally embarrassing for Canadians to be voting for this party and their “faux” leader based solely on name recognition. I do not think we are a serious country.
People have to remember that those enamored for Trudeau senior are now seniors themselves … and no smarter. The new stupid are the same as the old stupid.
I agree — I have never found Mercer to be funny. It is puzzling how he has been so embraced by the media. I have never been able to laugh at a single one of his jokes. Pathetic would be how I would describe his humour. Now Ezra can be hilarious when he sets his mind to it.
If Justin Trudeau is the new Prime Minister after the election, I have a gut feeling.
Within a scant month of his office, his jaunty manner will have changed. The enormity of his task and indeed the demands made on him, will cause him to regret the day he was elected.
Wrt point number two, the niqab topic was introduced by the media, who kept asking Stephen Harper about his position in an attempt in the hopes of (re) framing his view as mean and divisive and un-Canadian. Later polling revealed that a substantial (and surprising) majority of Canadians across the country agree with his position.
Should Stephen Harper have pulled a Kim Campbell and said “I don’t think an election campaign is the time to talk about the issue…”?
Speaking of politicians’ views on the niqab, here’s the CBC on March 26, 2010:
Why didn’t the pundits and news agencies relentlessly hammer on the point that Ignatieff’s views were inflammatory and divisive? Why weren’t the chattering classes whipped into high dudgeon by Ignatieff’s clearly ridiculous and insidious position?
Those are what you call yer’ basic rhetorical questions.
I agree, no one should feed you.
I’ve been a scrutineer. The fraud doesn’t happen in the voting, it happens in the vote counting, which is a very tedious process.
Worked out pretty well. Dion was gone and Harper governed successfully for a number of years –maybe continuing. Duffy’s fate is of no consequence in the broader scheme of things. Also — if you are wanting to be the PM of Canada, knowing how to speak English is a good idea.
The best thing about this very hateful election against the Conservative government and especially Stephen Harper has been this very informative blog. I have learned so much from the comments made about what has happened in the past, when the Liberals were in power, from those who experienced it even though I too did but was oblivious to what was going on. And I’ve posted stuff on my Facebook much to the dismay of my so-called friends. This election has made me ill when I see one of the finest prime ministers this country has ever had being attacked mercilessly. I admire him for withstanding all the criticism while “shiny pony” mesmerizes the public with his relentless stage presence. Good luck to the Conservatives tomorrow…I hope the white hairs get out to vote as they will make a difference. Conservatives are the best!
If you like your niqub you can keep your niqub

The west attacked by transgender from within
I just have to make a couple of points….
Not once throughout this entire election run have I heard mentioned the sacrifices paid by so many Canadians before us to keep this country and it’s democracy free. Another example of how the left controls the message these days. I NEVER mark an X without taking a moment to remind myself of this, surely hope I’m not the exception.
Maybe most importantly, especially if the CPC loses today….
There are Conservatives who aren’t Christian.
There are Conservatives who aren’t gun enthusiasts.
There are Conservatives who are gay.
There are Conservatives who smoke pot.
There are Conservatives fighting the good fight in Toronto and Vancouver.
DEAL WITH IT! STOP DRIVING THEM ALL OUT OF THE PARTY BECAUSE YOU HAVE SOME NARROW-MINDED, BIGOTED VIEW OF WHAT A CONSERVATIVE IS!
I think that qualifies as a rant, thanks as always for the forum to do it, Kate.
Tonight I’m gonna party like it’s 1979, I expect to sober up in four years…
This will be my one and only post. If the polls are right, we are about to elect the Canadian equivalent of Barak Obama as our next Prime Minister, both in terms of experience level, policies and world view. As such, there will be a great deal of finger pointing, teeth gnashing and hand wringing. Some will blame Prime Minister Harper, his character, his management style, his demeanor. Others will feel that he was not Conservative enough, or that campaign timing, messaging, etc. etc. were at fault. I understand and accept that this post mortem will take place. (However, I am not inclined to think that a new leader etc. will make much difference.) Here’s why.
I recently read Mark Steyn’s book After America. Doing so helped me to understand that there are much bigger forces at work here. Canada is merely following the same trajectory as most western democracies. I agree with Steyn that progressives dominate our education system, judicial system, “news” media and culture (movies, TV, etc.). Many people believe that conservatives should never be elected, and in the event they are, it is simply a terrible mistake. They really should not be allowed to govern, even if they have a majority.
IMO there simply are not enough grown-ups left in the room, and those of us who are feel intimidated and exhausted. In terms of the political spectrum, I think the current federal Conservatives are close to what was centre, with the Liberals and NDP occupying the left. But many centrist policies are now considered extreme.
Ontario – the re-election of the Wynne government with a majority was a key milestone. Progressive Conservatives there (where I grew up) were understandably astonished and frustrated by events. If only we had the right leader, if only we had the right campaign, if only we had the right platform and messaging…. Given that Canada only has one Progressive Conservative provincial government at present, I am not optimistic that any strategy will succeed.
Federally or provincially, if conservatives get in, they will find it next to impossible to take on the status quo.
I’d also heard a lot of discussion about Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, and how Barack Obama applied them in defeating Hillary Clinton for the nomination in 2008, and in defeating two Republican opponents. After doing some reading, I feel that many of the same strategies are being applied here in Canada. (And, yes Conservatives attack opponents, but most often the attack has a basis in fact. Also, I don’t like name calling much from anyone)
It seems as though a lot of folks don’t just disagree with Conservative policies and values; they think we are evil and heartless human beings. Wow! Should you attempt to counter accusations with facts, it has no effect.
I have thus decided to hunker down and live the best life I can. Occasionally I might happen on folks who think the same, and know that I am not alone. Had hoped not to witness the twilight of Western Civilization. Ah well.
Thank you for having a place where my views can be expressed.
PS – stay tuned in the media for weeks and months of people who have a beef with PMSH, followed by more books, a tv mini series, one-man comedy show, and perhaps a musical.
