“Well, I didn’t know what Auschwitz was, or I didn’t up until today,” Alex Johnstone, a Hamilton public school trustee, told a reporter for the Hamilton Spectator after a candidate’s debate.”

We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims. In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, and talent. We destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.”

  2. RE: Remarks about Auschwitz.
I can understand a young person being unaware of the Nazi Death Camps. Does that mean we should have sympathy for her?? I don’t know about the rest of you–but I don’t. I was born in 1949, I know the suffering that the Nazis dealt upon the Jewish population of Europe, and I know the misery they dealt the world! Some of them were my ancestors!!
If Alex Johnstone was Conservative, she would have been booted out of the campaign within an hour! Jerry Bance was kicked out of the Conservative campaign for much less than that, even when the Constituency association was aware that older men sometimes have to tinkle pronto when they develop prostate problems. And do keep in mind that the venomous CBC dug this story up specifically to hurt the Conservatives. It was totally unrelated to politics!
I know this is the kind of world we live in! I just hope that the voting public can see through this quagmire of socialist hypocrisy!

  3. “I can understand a young person being unaware of the Nazi Death Camps.”
So just what are they teaching in school? Or did she even attend school? To much recess time with a hoot? There is absolutely no excuse for not knowing about the horrors of Nazism or their death camps. We forget or neglect at our own peril.

  4. Got automated telephone “survey” from Alberta government today looking for input into their budget. First question, what would I like to see as a focus in next budget. All five options available involved increased spending.
Remember that when Notley says Albertans were consulted on budget.

  5. “I just hope that the voting public can see through this quagmire of socialist hypocrisy!”
I’m afraid it appears it is too late, if you can believe the polls. The brainwashing by the left seems to have taken hold.
EBD, thanks for tonight’s selection. Sad, touching, but a part of life for each of us.

  6. One Bloc Quebecois candidate named VirJiny Provost (seriously, it’s VirJiny) answered a question about what three things she would need to help survive in the event of a nuclear war, thus: “my cellphone, a penis and lots of chips”.
Some people seemed not to know the difference between an amusing and somewhat flippant quip and a genuine scandal.

“Saskatoon nurses surrounded after leaving shift at RUH”
    By Bre McAdam
    September 23, 2015 – 4:01pm
Saskatoon nurse is warning fellow nurses who work at the Royal University Hospital (RUH) to be careful when walking to their cars after their shift.
In a Facebook post that has now been shared nearly 4,000 times, Shauna Dugan wrote that five or six men in dark clothing surrounded her and two of her colleagues Tuesday night while they crossed ‘the tree park’, which is called President Murray Park, near Brunskill School.
Many nurses who work at RUH tell CKOM News they have to leave their vehicles near the park, which is several blocks south of the university campus between Aird Street and Colony Street.
Dugan said the men, who looked to be between 18 and 20 years old, emerged from the trees and began closing in on her group in mere seconds. According to the post, Dugan and her coworkers were able to run to the nearest car before anything happened, but she noted how “this situation very easily could have ended very differently.”
This comes just days after a woman was sexually assaulted while running on the Meewasin Trail behind RUH.
Campus security confirms they received a report from Dugan and have referred it to the Saskatoon Police Service. Kelsie Fraser, media relations spokesperson for SPS, said police are aware of the viral post and are looking into whether a report was made.
Dugan could not be reached for a comment by the time this story was published.

  9. This one seems to have taken off in several directions from the original post but I’d like to take my comment back to the original.
While the family member who posted this video was certainly free to do so, my feeling is that it is social media being used for something it shouldn’t be used for. This couple have spent the vast part of their life together and their good-bye should not be something on public display for the whole world to see. But then I’m a relatively private person who frequently shakes his head in regards to how many seem to be willing to live their entire life on the public media.
BTW, I didn’t watch the entire video for that reason.

  10. That’s good news, likely resulting in panic on the left. I think Trudeau’s announcement that he would not work with Harper was an error. Surely this would send some centrist and right leaning Liberals into the Harper camp.

  11. Mulcair and Trudeau would fall over each other to work with Harper if it meant a chance at the keys to the treasury. And just what makes them think that PMSH would want to work with them? He would have to lower his standards dramatically to even associate with these vote whores.

  12. The song shared between a soon to be parted couple was beautiful. Those moments are what makes life worth it and define what humanity means. Thanks for posting.

  13. I agree with you and signed off very early. This is a private and most tender moment between two old lovers and should probably have not been publicly displayed.
For me to watch it was to enter the realm of creeping … an act I would take no pride in.
My son is in his early forties, serves up his entire life for all to see on facebook and thinks nothing of it.

Gosar wrote that Francis had “adopted all of the socialist talking points, wrapped false science and ideology into ‘climate justice’ and is being presented to guilt people into leftist policies.””

  16. How low can the CBC go ?
EKOS released a poll yesterday that shows the Conservatives at 35.4%, which is very close to majority territory.
The Liberals are at second with 26.3
The NDP are lagging in last with 24.5
    The CBC glosses over this;
“Polls were in some disagreement Thursday, with Nanos and Léger showing the same three-way race and EKOS recording a wide lead for the Conservatives. ”

Trudeau is not mentioned in the article, but I would be surprised if Lougheed was not involved in Trudeau’s $1,200 a plate fundraising back in December 2013. Logheed was involved in other Liberal fundraisers and the NDP has released a press release that has them together.

  19. In a minority situation look to how Harper managed two previous mandates.
1-he doesn’t have to make any agreements or concessions to either Tommy or Leisuresuit Larry.
2-the reason he doesn’t is that he determines who is the weaker opposition leader and picks off enough of their members to either support pieces of legislation or catch the parliamentary flu.
And it should be obvious who the weak link is.

  20. A minority Conservative gov’t will result in a coalition in a heartbeat.
It will be spun as two leaders putting aside their differences to work together for the good of all Canadians.
The media will lap it up and spew it across the country.

The thing to do is get out there and help your Conservative candidate!! Lets not let it happen!
I’m quite lucky, I live in a Conservative constituency where we usually hit well over 60%. However we do work at it. Defacing posters is a lot of work. Just kidding–just kidding!!

“Hamilton school board stands by NDP candidate Alex Johnstone”
    “My great-grandparents were killed there.
My grandparents’ parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews — all rounded up in Poland, shoved into cattle cars and delivered to the railway platform of Auschwitz. From there, they were eventually marched into the gas chambers as part of the Nazis’ Final Solution to rid Europe of its Jews, part of the 8,000-a-day murdered in their death factory.
Their escape blocked by armed guards and an electrified fence of barbed wire.
So may I offer a basic tip, whether you’re a politician, a school trustee or just a young social worker: Don’t joke about Auschwitz.”
