Prime Minister Mark Carney and his entourage spent $159,800 on airplane food during a single trip while dining on “chicken chasseur,” Chilean sea bass and “death by chocolate,” according to government records obtained by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
Carney continues to rack up expensive airplane food bills despite the government promising to reduce costs and other officials spending far less on in-flight catering.
“Carney spent more money on airplane food during one trip than the average family will spend on groceries in almost a decade,” said Franco Terrazzano, CTF Federal Director. “Carney keeps promising to spend less, but if he isn’t willing to cut back on airplane food, then what will he spend less on?”
Carney and his 55-person entourage spent $159,800 on airplane food during one week-long trip to Athens, Abu Dhabi, Johannesburg and the Canary Islands in November 2025, according to government records tabled in response to an order paper question. That’s $2,850 per passenger.

Why is anyone surprised by this, it’s a continuation of his excessive spending of Other Peoples Money when he was at the Bank of England, and I would bet it would be the same when he ran the Bank of Canada.

You think world bankers come cheap? You should know better, Canada.
Yeah, yeah … shut up Californian. Your State burns through $Billions on the homeless and high speed ghost trains. And what about Gavin Newsom’s ONE $22k dinner at the French Laundry.

My State sucks … but your entire nation blows.
Today Lord Carney burns jet fuel to Southwestern Ontario for some photo-ops. As with Blackie he doesn’t give exact locations.
How dare we!
Does anyone think Liberal voters give a shit?
“But but but Trump!”
Pre-election, my mother-in-law (who worked the election in her riding) told me that voting for Carney was “about the country”, as if that explained her position – I had to know only Mark could save us from Trump.
We may as well hold back the Fundy tide or shake our fists at the blue of the sky, reason has fled Canada.
I look forward to Trump blockading the Bay of Fundy … with a single carrier group. Stopping the tides.
I DO enjoy amusing myself.
If you are opposed to Liberals wasting taxpayer money that means you are opposed to Liberals, not wasting taxpayer money.
One should oppose wasting taxpayer money irrespective of who is doing it.
How much taxpayer money was wasted by PC MPPs on hotel accommodation even though they were within driving distance of the legislature?
I’m all on board for horse-whipping all of them.
Sounds like a “Let Them Eat Cake” situation. Time for a Bastille Day redux?
A 55 person entourage is perhaps the grossest part of this story. To do what exactly?
Two reasons:
1. Strengthening economic ties with Abu Dhabi, including removing trade restrictions and building business partnerships.
2. Attending the G20 summit in Johannesburg.
Zoom would do, at a fraction of the cost.
When Harper hosted the G7-20 summit, Glenn Beck joked that they are spending a billion dollars to discuss austerity.
Why is the government building business partnerships? The business of the government is to stay out of business.
Perhaps, but there’s hardly a government in the world who doesn’t these days.
That adds up to zero.
Come on. It’s not like he ordered a $12 glass of room service orange juice. Get your priorities straight. Sheesh!
/s.
If you are referring to bev oda, it was $16 for orange juice. Meanwhile how many Canadians put back the juice boxes in the grocery store as they are ‘broke’. And stop for a Timmies on the way home…
Regardless of the price paid, the (not yet bought-and-paid-for) legacy media went ballistic over it. Harper caved in and fired Ms. Oda because of that. Yet today, the (now bought-and-paid-for) legacy media say nothing about spending taxpayer money for Marx Carnage to lavish himself and his cronies.
That’s why we need to strengthen the small conservative media further, and to boycott the corrupt paid-for media cartel. Pulling cable TV is a start.
This governor can deceive in complete sentences and therefore his media pimps him out as a genius and the Eastern and central Eloi love him.
By contrast, here is David Frum’s description of the menu aboard Air Force One:
“The menu on Air Force One was a throwback to the days when American food meant eggs and cream and processed meats. A typical day featured cheese omelette, ham slice and blueberry muffin for breakfast; hot dog, crisps, creamy coleslaw and fudge brownie for lunch; fried chicken, French fries, creamed corn and apple pie for dinner.”
This not only reflects the “U-shaped” social class curve – i.e., the habits of those at the very top and very bottom are similar compared to the grasping mass in the middle – but it also shows that in America, whose moral DNA is rooted in Puritanism, the Founding Fathers of the Federalist Papers, Boston Brahminhood, etc. – there is still an ethos, sometimes more honoured in the breach than in the observance, that one should enter public service as a duty and not to live high on the hog. Here in Canada, with our tradition of Family Compact Toryism (the Family Compact were, in reality, largely petites fonctionnaires with pretentions of grandeur (what has changed?) overlaid with the Franco-Quebecois of étatisme and the entitlement of officialdom, no such restraining ethos exists, hence King Carney’s little menu here.
And “we” – SDA regulars excluded, of course – keep letting them get away with it.
We are a ridiculous little people. A ridiculous, inconsequential little people.
Abu Dhabi? WTF is in Abu Dhabi? Is he looking to expand the market for white female prostitutes being used as toilets? All kidding aside, it’s just a financial hub of corruption and money laundering that treats foreing workers like slaves. I guess he just wants some pointers for Canada’s future.
… as in Abu Dhabi Dhoo.
Of course. Mais oui. All animals are equal but some are more equal than others.
Sounds like Canada’s affirmative action as to employment.
Liberals…
Entitled to their entitlements
Just ask Warren Kinsella or Charles Adler.
Can I beat the shit out of them for answers?
