Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
I like Christie Blatchfords comment used about the Duffy trial. ‘Pecked to death by ducks. Brings up the image of a cbc staff meeting.
Gabby…I have seen the vid mocking Trudeau saying ‘Um-Ah’…but good luck getting that on the CBC site.
It could turn on them….I would love to see PM Harper and the CPC ‘media’ people pick up on this and mock the CBC…or at least tell them how honoured he was to have it ‘created’…he has a good sense of humour.
Ouch, good one, you really got me there 😉
The CBC is just creating another sleazy scandal to deflect attention from the far sleazier scandal of exploiting dead children purely for the purpose of a partisan-fuelled attack on our majority-elected Prime Minister.
Pricks.
“How about not stealing a billion more dollars from the taxpayer than are needed?”
Yup. That’s actually what I was getting at.
But politicians of pretty much any stripe aren’t fools: lowering taxes for the public is counter-intuitive.
They know that without taxation they have no means to shower their generosity and largesse upon their favoured demographic group(s).
Let’s face it, we taxpayers will just spend our money on ourselves if we’re allowed to keep it. But an MP, MPP or MLA can obviously put that money to far better use than you and I would!
Right?
The CBC should be defunded/fined for failing to register as a political action committee…. Election Canada Issue
My two bits worth:
This is just unbelievable. On what conceivable basis is this newsworthy? This is blatant political propaganda funded by taxpayers. As one of those taxpayers I am outraged that you would use money with which I could better provide for my family to mock and belittle a political leader.
It really is time to defund the CBC and let you stand or fall on your own talents or lack thereof. No more ‘special priviledge for the Ottawa/Toronto axis of media elites.
Let the CBC enjoy themselves, they’re a laugh a minute. Anyone who can’t see through their game by now are a lost cause. Their slogan for this election should be CBC for ABC, Anybody But Conservatives.
Regarding the video itself: like so much CBC humour, it’s simply not funny.* Instead, rather sophomoric and repetitive.
Also, when I count up the people behind Harper in the image above, I get 22, of whom no less than eight are women.
Hardly “all his man friends”.
* Though not as howlingly awful as that odious “Harperman” travesty.
Plainsfyre, you say that like getting rid of DDT was a good thing. It was harmless to humans, animals and birds, saved millions of lives, yet it was banned. Why? Because of environmentalist pressure, and millions died needlessly as a result.
Sorry, but I just don’t see the connection to CBC.

Sorry, but I just don’t see the similarity to CBC.

How about a few Harper supporters getting together to donate $1 to the CPC for every hit this juvenile video gets. Bet the CBC would take it down immediately.
I look forward to the CBC mocking their candidate Trutardo’s lispy rant of “Mithter Harper”, “Mithter Harper”, Mithter Harper”, “Mithter Harper”, “Mithter Harper”… yeah, that would be childish and stupid and wouldn’t help the CBC’s candidate Trutardo… best to let the moron continue to blather his platitudes and empty rhetoric unchallenged by the adoring Media cartel. Defund the CBC commie assholes now… we have enough anti Conservative bias now with the likes of the Media Guild union thugs and the anti taxpayer pricks at Unifor.
Bluetech, I haven’t seen the Trudeau video you allude to, nor am I eager to see it.
I like your idea of getting a laugh out of the one about Mr. Harper. I think there’s a limit to how much outrage we can all express and/or absorb.
“Friends”, at CBC we prefer “comrades”…
No kidding and Lenin/Layton beards and total STATE control of everything, including elections.
On another note, Is the government broadcaster using “man” here like people used to use “faggots” or “retards”, is “man” supposed to be a further carve by these retarded faggot government cheque cashing @@@holes?
(Hello mrcurios)
Do they not like men?
What does the word “man” have to do with anything in the headline?
Are they trying to beat the Prime Minister of Canada with “he has too many man friends” ?
Is that even possible? Not enough women friends? Sexism, are you kidding me? Says who?
What proof is there, why the sexism slur?
How incredibly out of touch, partisan and downright stupid are they?
Cut all government, including the CBC entirely and reduce taxes.
Why are we forced to pay for such waste and malfeasance?
What does the CBC have, over the Ombudsman, that makes him simply wave his hands at any criticism of MotherCorp?
What is he so desperate to hide??
Gabby, you miss the most important point:
I don’t mind the liberals or the dippers making fun of the PM; that’s their job, to some extent. And I don’t mind what private citizens do, either, as I’m all for free speech, even when I don’t like it.
But I DON’T LIKE HAVING MY MONEY TAKEN FROM ME AT GUNPOINT AND THEN USED TO MOCK THE PRIME MINISTER, especially by a ‘news source’ that claims to be ‘objective’ (don’t you see their ads?) and ‘non-partisan’.
Capiche?
Well, relax and take a breath, KevinB. I think you’re exaggerating a wee bit, no? Taking your money at gunpoint to use it to mock the PM?
You have every right to b*#ch about what the government does with your money. However, there’s plenty of things that we all, as members of society, have to pay for through our taxes even though we may disagree with money spent on those things. It’s called an orderly society, playing by existing rules — as opposed to chaos. I’m sure you’ve heard a similar line from the PM himself, i.e. his referring to “People who work hard, pay their taxes, and play by the rules.”
Your POV, like that of many others here, is to show your outrage to the ombudsman, calling for defunding the culprit. OK, so go ahead if that floats your boat. My approach is either laugh it off as just another example of CBC silliness or, since I’m paying for the CBC anyway, I may as well make use of it whenever convenient, taking from it what I consider relevant or not. Both are INDIVIDUAL choices. I am allowed to make that choice, am I not?
Just received a response from the CBC Ombudsman to my email expressing my dismay at the bias implicit in the Harper piece.
My remarks have been passed to the GM of CBC News for return comment. If I am not satisfied by her response then I can ask the Ombudsman to investigate further.
This should be kicked far enough down the road that the election will be over and no apology given.
Defunding would appear to be the best proposed solution for this sorry excuse for a Canadian broadcaster.
