Y2Kyoto: Planetary Fever Update

August 10th;

“COLD KILLS ONE MILLION HEADS OF CATTLE” reads the headline on Con Nuestro Peru.
A catastrophe for camels, sheep and cattle in the country.
The National Civil Defense Institute (INDECI) reported on 5 August that cold dead animals reach 912,300. At the time of writing that number could have risen to one million. Most are fine alpacas. There are also 508,000 sick animals.
This is a disaster unparalleled in our history.
Frightening is the situation created by the snowfall that hit especially the poor peasants.

  1. “I never said that it does not get cold at high elevations in Peru”
    Your entire first post:
“I am smelling a truckload of Bovine Scatology with this one! If you
take a look at Google Maps, the Northern most tip of Peru is right at
the Equator, and the Southern most tip at about -18 degrees latitude.
If the temperatures in this country are are any cooler than a Spring
day in Los Angeles, I will kiss a bare ass at first and Main at high
    noon!”
Hard to see “If the temperatures in this country are are any cooler than a Spring
day in Los Angeles…” as anything OTHER insinuating that, indeed, it does not get cold at high elevations in Peru (which, as you know, is the area of Peru we are talking about).
” I also discovered that Alpaca can survive temperatures as low as -30 C.”
Big deal, so can humans. And sometimes they freeze to death.
    Try again, Super Sleuth.

  2. MY FIRST INSTINCTS ARE RARELY EVER WRONG
This is the Internet age and there are way too many sites that list
day to day temperatures for just about any place on the globe. Here is
the June Accuweather data for the area of the alleged mass die-off.
The coldest it got there was about 21 degrees F for a few days and
most days were 2 to 4 degrees C warmer than the historical average:
    http://www.accuweather.com/en/pe/juliaca/260628/june-weather/260628?monyr=6/1/2015
Here is the data for July. Note that the coldest day was -11 C or
12.2 F. Again, most days were above the historic average:
    http://www.accuweather.com/en/pe/juliaca/260628/july-weather/260628?monyr=7/1/2015
Here is August to date. Again no massive cold wave and only a single
    day below the historical average:
    http://www.accuweather.com/en/pe/juliaca/260628/august-weather/260628?monyr=8/1/2015
Still looking for proof of that mass Alpaca die-off, but I stand a
better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa’s body!

  3. You just made my point that the only sites reporting this news with the
exception of one local Fox affiliate, is kook Apocalypse and climate
    change nuts.

  4. Going to try this anonymously as someone has blocked me from commenting
in this thread. I ran daily temperatures (High, low and historic) from
Accuweather from the region this alleged die off occurred. The lowest
recorded temperature between June, July and August to date was about
12 degrees F. 90 percent of this period showed recorded data that
    was BELOW historic averages.
Thanks for actually researching the data!

  5. Yeah, ’cause pointing out that you are wrong makes me a troll.
We’ll add “doesn’t know what a troll is” to the long list of “things south doesn’t know anything about”.
Remember, you’re the one who says that the temperatures in Peru aren’t any cooler than a Spring day in Los Angeles, and have been proven incorrect. Multiple times.
