Side note: Wendy Mesley has long been a poster girl for Canada’s Liberal Left. Her questions in this video show how shockingly naive and ignorant she and her ilk are. It’s disturbing.

Imust be getting old. I remember when Wendy Mesley was attractive. Wow, she hit the wall running.
Meanwhile, someone is suing Omar for $134 million – in US dollars I imagine.

Yes, it’s a freaky phenomena to be sure.
Personally with Shrillary and Pelosi, I see nearly naked mental illness watching them speak. With Oprah I detect a deep, deep resentment even hatred behind her personal facade when interviewing successful white people, especially pretty white females.
This impression, I can only describe as demonic, and I’m not a religious person.
“Can you show me in the Quran where it says that Medinan verses abrogate Meccan verses? ”
http://www.islamreview.com/articles/quransdoctrine.shtml
“THE DOCTRINE OF THE ABROGATOR AND THE ABROGATED IN THE QURAN (Al Nasikh Wal Mansoukh)
This doctrine is based on two verses that Allah allegedly instructed Mohammed to put into the Quran.
“None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?” Surah 2: 106
“When We substitute one revelation for another, and Allah knows best what He reveals (in stages), they say, “Thou art but a forger”: but most of them understand not.” Surah 16:101″
“she is an atheist and thus is hardly in any position to comment on what the theology of Islam ought to be.”
What Guano!
So tell me, I grew an Evangelical. Taught the bible to young and old, and studied it; especially the New Testament. I converted others, and lived a good wholesome devout Christian life, and I did it for decades. I can school most Christians on the New Testament; and it’s creation from a strictly historic point of vew.
I am now an Agnostic.
Are you going to tell me that I am hardly in any position to comment?
Surah 2:106 – “None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?”
Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been around for awhile. Very articulate and well spoken. I believe Mark Steyn has interviewed her as well. She is one of many who have been banned or harassed when invited to speak at “liberal” universities.
It has occurred to me that the most vocal critics of Islam are a very strong brave group of women…such as Ali, Wafa Sultan, Brigitte Gabriel and others. We could learn much from their bravery.
I hope PMSH is aware of her praise for him. He should feel honoured.
” … protestant Christianity has failed to produce the Spiritual and intellectual foundation to refute/withstand humanism … ”
We haven’t failed. People have just forgotten, under decades of leftist education and suppressing of historical knowledge.
Read “10 Ways Modern Culture is Different Because of John Calvin” http://www.modernreformation.org/default.php?page=articledisplay&var1=ArtRead&var2=1069&var3=issuedisplay&var4=IssRead&var5=107
My favourite is #7, “Parity Among all Professions: the Doctrine of Vocation.” The Calvinist work ethic is, along with #6: “Decentralized Politics: The Republic”, one of the main reasons that the ex-English, (i.e. Protestant) colonies (America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.) are great places to live while the ex-French and ex-Spanish, (i.e. Catholic) colonies are banana-republics.
I am now an Agnostic.
Are you going to tell me that I am hardly in any position to comment?
Being an agnostic basically means you can’t decide one way or the other. Why would anyone give any credence to a reed shaken by the wind?
In the verse you have quoted there is no mention of Meccan or Medinan at all.
You’re a clever one, there is no fooling you.
In fact middle-class housewife human intellect is much like a bunch of weights on strings twirling about a fixed point. So long as the point remains fixed or the weight remains on the string everything works well however when the strings break the weights fly off at all angles. Yes they are the same weight but they have lost contact with their anchor point. In modern society we see all kinds of ideas that are based in Christianity but they have lost contact with the Christian anchor point and thus are flying off in all directions. We Christians have failed to supply that anchor point.
I think the interviewer needed a shower after that to cleanse the unclean thoughts away. My wife who is a Muslim is reading her book right now and read her previous one, I will read it after my wife finishes, this is one very, very brave woman, I pray that she gets to live a long and happy life.
Wendy Mesley, like so many of her liberal ilk, thinks Kadhr is “cute”; dimples and all that, as do most of the gays and many of the heteros working in the media. The biggest problem here is that Kadhr is in love with himself, he hears all the commetary about himself and he believes it all. Nor should we ever forget, that it was Chretien who had his father released from jail in Pakistan, for the votes it would garner for him, and he is therefore guilty by association with him in the death of a military medic!
“We haven’t failed. People have just forgotten, under decades of leftist education and suppressing of historical knowledge.”
You are absolutely correct. After Lenin’s coup was successful in 1917, the first order of business after shooting any immediate possible opponents was to begin implementing policies that undermined the family, the church, and the capitalistic economic system.
The radical left knew that revolutions and coups would not likely be successful in western Europe and North America and so set about accomplishing the same by infiltrating and undermining the educational system.
Most that commenters here have heard my story about the communists that my friend and late step-brother had in their teacher training classes in two different universities in the late 1950s and early 1960s. There must have been more across the university system. They have been largely successful.
Mesley’s out of her league, send her back to the streets chasing vendors who serve lukewarm hot dogs.
Great post Ken.
“After Lenin’s coup was successful in 1917, the first order of business after shooting any immediate possible opponents was to begin implementing policies that undermined the family, the church, and the capitalistic economic system.”
Finally, someone is calling a coup a coup. Revolution it was not.
“For us, cinema is the most important of all the arts,” Vladimir Lenin
JIm Richardson’s comment obviously covered it more thoroughly than mine did. No, of course the Koran doesn’t divide itself into “Meccan” and “Medinan”(sp?). It does, however, seem to explain that abrogation is the way to make sense of the sometimes glaring contradictions between different injunctions in the text. Given that the abrogating verses are more or less specified to be those which come later, the Medinan stuff overrule the Meccan stuff.
But you knew all that already, didn’t you? So why be tedious about it?
There are all kinds of stupid people that annoy me but what annoys me most is a lazy argument.
Christopher Hitchens
At one point Wendy Mesley said that there had been a note “pinned” to Theo Van Gogh’s body. The dishonesty that is required for someone to describe it that way is staggering. As mentioned already, his murder was very grisly. For her imply that the murderer took out a safety pin and calmly attached a note to his body is incredible. It is precisely that kind of dialogue that makes me despise the CBC. And you’ll notice that she says these stupid things in her preamble monologue. Of course she wouldn’t say that in person to Aayan, whose death threat was stuck to Van Gogh’s body with a dagger, because she would undoubtedly correct her in an embarrassing way.
The other thing was her question to Aayan whether she agreed that Islam was anti-women. Asking Aayan Hirsi Ali that question is about as stupid as one can get. Had Mesley read one of her books, not only would she not ask that question, but she would agree with Harper that Islam is anti-women.
Knight99, that’s what I’ve discerned by watching and reading interviews with Oprah. She’s become more bitter with time and financial success and power. Speaking about old white men she categorizes as racist, she stated that they just have to die for racism to end. It never seems to occur to her that SHE sees everything through ‘coloured’ glasses.

I picked up on that as well. Now of course Wendy Mesley knows full well that Zunera Ishaq never asked to be wearing a headscarf, also known as hijab, but rather the full face-covering veil, also known as niqab. Also, Wendy Mesley is well aware that Stephen Harper never called for banning the headscarf/hijab from the oath of citizenship ceremony. In her reply, Ayaan Hirsi Ali was kind and polite enough to pretend she “did’t know the specific case” but she added: “If it is the full face-covering veil where in many ways we see women declaring openly loyality to the Islamic extremist agenda and at the same time going and taking the oath of citizenship in liberal countries, then I think it’s extremely important to point out that hypocrisy.” And while we’re on the subject of hypocrisy, it is worth asking if Wendy Mesley really thinks it’s okay to make blatantly false claims on the air in order to convince CBC viewers that Stephen Harper is the monster she obviously believes he is.
