Side note: Wendy Mesley has long been a poster girl for Canada’s Liberal Left. Her questions in this video show how shockingly naive and ignorant she and her ilk are. It’s disturbing.

Gee, don’t you just hate that when your guest won’t allow herself to be steered by your many leading questions? Hirsi just got her scratched from Slippery Wendy’s interview lists.
This woman has a brilliance and courage that I admire.
Quick side note. Did you notice the tone of the interview? Because Ayaan is a woman and a minority, Wendy is almost pleading with her to understand. Had she been a white guy this interview would have been an interrogation I’m sure. Just another example of why Ayaan Hirsi Ali is so important to this discussion.
One more thing. Mesley was desperately trying to word a question in a way that she’d get some criticism of Harper on record but Ayaan wouldn’t bite!!
Wendy Mesley must have brain cancer
I had never seen Ayaan Ali before and knew nothing about her. Clearly she is very intelligent, articulate and has thought these things through. Impressive. Good post. I only hope the interview was seen by a wide audience ….. but I doubt it.
I could only watch a few minutes of Mesley before my gag reflex started to kick in.
The interview was on the CBC so I doubt it was widely viewed.
“face covering”, Wendy, not “head scarf”. There is a difference, you know.
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”
That should be the Progressive motto.
Good to see that, by way of “research”, Ms. Mesley mailed a letter to the White House press office requesting a faxed copy of approved questions, along with a VHS of Mr. Obama’s verbal perambulations on the subject. Yesterday’s woman is here today, apparently.
As for Ms. Hirsi Ali, who’s almost got the straight face down pat (although I did detect the barest hint of a knowing, “Here we go again” smile), the juxtapositional irony of these kinds of encounters never cease to amaze me: here is a Somolian Muslim woman, who has had a very hard life, who has been constantly on-the-run and who believes in the tenets of Western liberalism, taking a white, Anglo-Saxon and nominally-“liberal” woman, who has had everything in her life handed to her on a silver platter, to school over the dangers of divided loyalties. Promoting divided loyalties is the stock and trade, of course, of the Trudeaupian/Laurentian “elite” Axis of Disinformation, and has served Canada oh so well in the past.
And Wendy Mesley with the furrowed-brow look that says, “I’m hearing you, and I’m trying to understand, but…”!
F’ing CBC!
Of course Harper was right about Islam’s oppression of women and most Canadians agreed with him!
Our PM, by opposing any chance of sharia law taking root in Canada, is doing more for women’s freedom than any of these useless feminist twats even care to.
An excellent interview, even with Mesley’s myopia on the topic. Thanks for the link, WallyJ.
Whether viewed religiously or non-religiously, the single word watching Wendy Mesley that comes to mind is Demonic.
If you want to see this lady take a lieberal clown to school find the interview she did with Avi Lewis. There was a short clip of it at the beginning of this interview a good watch..
Did you ever notice that when Power and Politics asks one of their questions on their so-called opinion polls, the politically correct (ie. leftist) answer always starts with about 600 “correct” responses? If these are real responses, then the respondents must be waiting with bated breath to dial in. Or, maybe, the computer people at the Mother corpse plug in 600 fake responses as the question is revealed to the public. I call this the CBC 600.
If I was Steven Harper, I’d cut about 90% of this useless organization’s funding. Sad to say, the CBC used to be my radio station of choice. But back in those days, the CBC actually had things on the air that were worth listening to.
Easy to sit in the lower woman abusing confines of the CBC and act like this when your an upper CBC skank, if dopey Wendy were still a lower skank she would be one of the Gomeshee plaintiffs, but wait, didn’t she start at the top, thats how old Pete lost all his hair, to many u turns. Defund it Steven with your next mandate, or we will defund you, why should good people pay for purveyors of evil.
Wendy (Miserable) Mesley – the self appointed media guardian of outdated fembo phychosis.
Fortunately for properly adjusted viewers, truth and logic emote these “explosions” in leftard media mollusks just about every time – be warned and wear a rain coat to these interviews or you’ll get your shirt stained with all the cranial detonations.
Mesley describing Theo van Goth’s murder – ‘ he had a letter pinned to his chest’. Pinned? Pinned??
“Bouyeri cut Van Gogh’s throat with a large knife and tried to decapitate him, after which he stabbed the knife deep into Van Gogh’s chest, reaching his spinal cord. He attached a note to the body with a smaller knife. Van Gogh died on the spot.”
I can’t believe Mesley still cites the “Arab Spring” as some kind of reformation of Islam, it was a disastrous political debacle that enabled Islamic extremists. Her dogma is set in concrete.
I agree. Ayaan has had enough experience dealing with liberal media that she easily parried all of Mesley’s traps, including traps meant to degrade PM Harper.
David in Michigan, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, besides knowing how to deal with liberal media, is quite an accomplished author and has written a a few books, including her latest, “Heretic”.
It is interesting that the topic of the genital mutilation of Ali was not brought up. It is well described in her book, “Nomad”.
Says it’s not available.. 🙁
Two superb pieces by Raymond Ibrahim:
The first one deals with Hirsi Ali’s naive advocacy of reform of Islam (toward liberal western values). She actually suggests Muslims start doubting Mohammed, which — it kills me to say it — is moronic.
The Reformation is Already Here
http://www.raymondibrahim.com/islam/islams-reformation-is-already-here-and-its-called-isis/
The second is the definitive rebuttal to the hoary paint by numbers notion of moral equivalence vis-a-vis violence in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. As in: no comparison whatsoever: time anchored historically descriptive vs. universally prescriptive.
http://www.meforum.org/2159/are-judaism-and-christianity-as-violent-as-islam
I have often wondered if it came to a choice between Islam and women which side the liberals would choose. I have my answer. I still don’t understand why the so called conservative continues to steal my money and give it to the CBC propaganda machine.
Sorry Sean, it is just as impossible for a liberal to get brain cancer as it is for a male to get ovarian cancer.
bama the Fink allows in hundeds of illegal aliens or future demacratic voters more reasons he isa traitor and should not only be impeached but tried for treason and deported
Wendy, “Doesn’t the liberal motive for implanting out collective cranium in our collective rectum come from a good place?”
Me – “What else is on”.
I like and respect Hirsi Ali – she is a courageous and intelligent critic of Isalm in the face of liberal insults and disinformation. Having said that, I believe Me No Dhimmi has it right when he queries her cure for islam in the form of its reformation. After all, if reformation entails a return to first principles, it is the last thing the West, or any peace-orientated culture, would want to see. It is these “first principles”, as evidenced by Mohammad’s actions in his lifetime and sanctioned by centuries of evolved and “divine” Islamic Law, that ISIS purports to adhere to. The “reformation” is, indeed, already upon us and benefitting from the tacit approval of the Muslim community writ large by virtue of its silence.
At one point in time, Mesley fell in love with Peter Mansbridge. That tells you all you need to know about her. I mean, what kind of sick, twisted woman falls in love with Peter? One corrupt journalist falling into the arms of another, I guess.
The term “reformation” is a misleading one. The Reformation did not mean Christianity was somehow modernized and liberalized, turning everyone into a with-it, anything-goes United Church parishioner. The leaders of the Reformation – Luther, Calvin, Knox et al. – wanted to return Christianity to its supposed First Century roots. The result was some pretty stern and unyielding Protestantism.
Ibrahim has observed the blindingly obvious to those who understand was “reformation” really means: it is quite possible that it is the Islamic State and the rigid, jihadist extremists represent the Muslim Reformation.
Now I like Ayaan Hirsi Ali a lot but I do agree with Conrad Black: she is an atheist and thus is hardly in any position to comment on what the theology of Islam ought to be.
flyboy, you and MND are just as stupid as lefties, just in a different manner. Kristianity was, and some Jews still are violence prone. Those 2 and islam are all based on the old testement, which is filled with violence, like good olde kristian stoning for adultry
As NME666 points out I know very little about religion. I’ve read a lot about Islam tho.
As I understand Ibrahim, Luther’s reformation was fuelled by a desire to return to the bible from which, he argued, the Catholic Church had strayed.
His point is simply that Islam has reformed. Returned to first principles.
ISIS is Islam and Islam is ISIS.
As I argued here long ago if you take the ugly, violent, hateful, supremacist stuff out of Islam it’s no longer Islam.
It would be Waslam.
David in Michigan @ 7:54 AM,
If you got the time, pick up her book ‘Infidel’. It’s a good read.
I gave it to one of my lefty co-workers who is proudly of Dutch heritage. He is one of the few lefties with an open mind that I know.
He read it, and it has given him pause. The similarities between our ‘chattering class’ and the Netherlands’s of 10 years ago is troubling.
“I’ve read a lot about Islam …”
Have you read the Quran?
“Kristianity was … violence prone.”
You mean Christianity or Christendom?
Aayan Hirsi Ali is a problem for the Liberal Media. Smart, informed, current and experienced in the controversies surrounding the threat of Islam in Canada. Makes it much harder for apologist vote snivelers like JT & the intolerant class to openly attack Harper on his policy that all citizens must put Canada with its Western freedoms and values ahead of those from other cultures that conflict. Aayan spells out plainly that Canada’s values are better for people, deserve such loyalty and that it is reasonable to push for change in those from other cultures to dissolve those conflicts.
“she is an atheist and thus is hardly in any position to comment on what the theology of Islam ought to be.” If Conrad Black said that he was brain dead at the time.
This makes as much sense as saying that anyone formerly from the Soviet Union is in no position to comment on what should have happened to change it. Being raised in oppression certainly makes one more knowledgeable about it and therefore in a better position to know what needs changing.
Many atheists experienced a religious upbringing but have chosen to reject the mysticism. These individuals are at least as knowledgeable as many of the “religious” and just as qualified to venture an opinion.
MND is correct.
Christianity is based on the new testament. The Old Testament is a history of the people who became Christians, before they became Christians. Nowhere in the new testament does Christ say that people are supposed to emulate the people of the old testament. The laws laid out in the old testament are Jewish laws, not Christian ones.
Speaking of reform does anyone dare acknowledge the fact that the Christian Reformation was a purely western phenomena and remains barely noticed in the rest of Christianity. The Roman Catholic Church had a schism (reformation) but the other apostolic churches didn’t and those churches remain largely unchanged in belief and practice. I think that those pro-reformers think that the Christian reformation was akin to neutering a bull and thus wish Islam would do the same. The truth is that the protestant reformation was in large part a product of the enlightenment whereby individuals were encouraged to think for themselves. Unfortunately the new humanist orthodoxy is striving to remove reasoning and thus would like to revert western society to new dark ages. The real tragedy is that protestant Christianity has failed to produce the Spiritual and intellectual foundation to refute/withstand humanism and the Roman Catholic church under its present leadership has become a proponent of the post modernist/marxist orthodoxy.
The laws laid out in the old testament are Jewish laws, not Christian ones.
Perhaps your understanding of the Law is a little off…you’re probably thinking of the ordinances, ceremonial law.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
The ordinances have been abolished…
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Btw, I doubt if the history of atheist violence can be surmounted, communism alone amounts to more than 100 million murders.
stradivarious I think you are a little confused. Yes the law remains and ever shall remain BUT we Christians are not under the law we live by Grace. The law brings death – Grace brings Life!
I have read Dr. Bill Warner’s (Political Islam) abridged Koran.
Abridged in that the verses are organized chronologically instead by verse length.
And he removed a lot of repetition.
Many western apologists are fooled by the peaceful (Meccan) verses not realizing that these are abrogated by later (Medinan) verses.
Warner points out that about 60% of the Koran deals with the subjugation and/or killing of infidels.
Am I to infer that a reading of the Koran would change my view?
I haven’t read Mein Kampf, original or abridged.
Do you suppose that I might feel differently about Hitler had I read it?
Mein Kampf is extremely popular in the Muslim world as is the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Yes the law remains and ever shall remain BUT we Christians are not under the law we live by Grace. The law brings death – Grace brings Life!
Heh, murder someone, or steal something, then tell me you’re not under the Law…
We’re not under the sacrificial ordinances, because Christ became our sacrifice. The Law remains, just as Christ says it always will.
You are confused by the difference between Laws, Statutes and Ordinances.
Oh Dear stradivarious understands neither the law nor Grace. Perhaps he should spend a bit of time studying the Pauline letters.
Sadly, Wendy survived her medical issues.
We are pooer for that…….
“As I argued here long ago if you take the ugly, violent, hateful, supremacist stuff out of Islam it’s no longer Islam.

Sir, for your example of ‘brevity is the soul of wit'(Shakespeare), you win the day’s award, for which this simple complement will have to suffice.
On today’s CBC Radio Sunday Morning, Michael Enright interviews Ayaan Hirsi Ali as part of her book tour. It’s longer than the one with Wendy Mesley and somewhat better.
Until at the end of it, Michael Enright attempts to get Ayaan Hirsi Ali to compromise her personal security protocols.
She is taken aback at Engright’s non-too subtle support for Islamist Sharia Law of apostasy, for which the sentence is death.
She responds, telling him he must know that she can’t respond to such questions.
CBC has become more than an embarrassment. It’s truly a menace.
It’s bereft of the Canadian values, it was created to support and transmit.
Grace only applies if there’s repentance. Without repentance, with it’s full meaning, the Law applies. Christian, or not.
That being said, murder isn’t forgiven through repentance. It’s not unforgivable, but judgement applies, by the Judge.
1Jn 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
“I have read Dr. Bill Warner’s (Political Islam) abridged Koran.”
I will repeat Glenn Beck’s important words: “Go directly to the source.”
“… the peaceful (Meccan) verses … are abrogated by later (Medinan) verses.”
Can you show me in the Quran where it says that Medinan verses abrogate Meccan verses?
‘There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion.’ is a Medinan verse. As is chapter 3 verse 64: ‘Say, “O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you – that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah.” But if they turn away, then say, “Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].”‘
“… about 60% of the Koran deals with the subjugation and/or killing of infidels.
Am I to infer that a reading of the Koran would change my view?”
Check it out for yourself.
I was wondering how long it would take for NME666 to jump in and say something about the Jews in his normal anti-Semite way.
I guess stradivarious missed his Sunday School lesson where Jesus said to His disciples “Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
Avi Lewis, a white secular 1st world male, in mocking disbelief towards a black Muslim 3rd world female, posits: “how can you say there is no Islamophobia?!” That clearly illustrates the leftist blind spot towards Islamism, ethnocentrically appropriating authentic Muslim views with their own addled ignorant perspectives to rationalize their cognitive dissonance that any view contrary to western values could be mistaken or misguided. This frankly is regrettably consistent with their mindset across a broad spectrum of issues.
The first act of the totalitarian is to claim a monopoly of what thought means and which of it is acceptable, followed immediately by oppression and censorship.
Islamist imams are flim-flam artists – start with the piety of true Islam, give them a sense of order and peace they’ve never experienced. Then once you have gained their trust, reverence and deference, convert them into barbaric Islamist soldiers acting on monstrous interpretations of Muslim teachings. That folks, is the root cause of Islamist violence in the world – not infidel presence in their “holy lands,” not “isolation” other than that imposed by the before-mentioned con artists, and certainly not our prosperity, which they value as highly, escaping here to our Levis jeans, Coca-Cola and smart phones. Now their radical elements wish to deny them that and tell all of society how to act.
Thanks to that brave lady for clearly explaining this phenomenon.
Great thread,
For those who are interested in gaining an expert, non-Muslim insight into the parallels between Sharia’h Law and Jihadist actions, try out the six-part lecture series hosted by Major (Ret’d) Stephen Coughlin linked to below. Steve was a highly praised intelligence asset within the Pentagon before he was bounced by politically correct forces back in 2009.
https://youtu.be/nhZe7eZK4dw
Incredibly brave, intelligent and a wondrous smile.
Funny you should say that…I get the same impression when I see Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid speak. And Oprah. There’s something very wrong with them.
