Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

The comments from the retarded class are absolutly halirious. Then you want to cry as you realize that crazy and stupid is now mainstream.
This is not going to end well.
The Spawn should offer him a Liberal candidacy. Anyone that smooth and successful at taqqiya belongs in the Spawn’s caucus. That would potentially bring a new meaning to the expression, “dropping a grenade” at a meeting.
My thought is that if he was rehabilitated the parole board would have let him go. They seem to be more liberal springing criminals and perverts on society than judges and they wouldn’t risk it.
The mass media is positively orgasmic about release of convicted killer.
1. his ideology says it is ok to lie.
2. even if held in Canada, he still is an example to other jihadis of beating the enemy system.
3. he will mix in with muslims again to forment trouble
4. better send him and his whole rotten family back to pakistan
He is not just a convicted Murderer, he is also a war criminal.
In its definition of war crimes the statute includes “conscripting or enlisting children under the age of fifteen years into national armed forces or using them to participate actively in hostilities” (Article 8(2)(b)(xxvi)) in international armed conflict; and in the case of an internal armed conflict, “conscripting or enlisting children under the age of fifteen years into armed forces or groups or using them to participate actively in hostilities” (Article 8(2)(e)(vii)).
Note the important UNDER the age of fifteen years, Khadr was 15 when he committed his war crimes.
Can’t find anywhere if any bail money was posted? Seems odd? If there was bail money, who paid?
They keep mentioning Khadr going to The Kings University in Edmonton.
Are his jihadi friends aware that the King it is named after isn’t the King of England? Maybe he swore off the Religion of Peace in whose name he killed people.
Statement of Faith
The educational philosophy of The King’s University is rooted in the historic Christian faith and seeks to work out concretely what the Christian faith means for a liberal arts education.
We believe that all teaching and learning occurs within contexts of views of life and society. The context for education at The King’s University is a specifically Christian world-and-life view, that is, a view that is informed by the Bible, the authoritative Word of God as confessed by the early church and in the creeds of the Protestant Reformation.
From the Bible we derive the following principles which provide the framework for education at The King’s University:
1. Creation: that humanity and the entire world find their origin, meaning, and purpose in God the Creator and Jesus Christ the Redeemer.
2. Sin: that humanity, by its original disobedience, broke its relationship with God and caused God’s curse on creation.
3. Redemption: that Christ, the Word Incarnate, is the Redeemer who restores the relationship between God and God’s creation and who renews life through the Holy Spirit.
4. Human Life: that all of life, including teaching and learning, is service either to the God of the Scriptures or to a god of human invention.
5. Teaching and Learning: that teaching and learning must proceed in the light of God’s written Word and in accordance with God’s Creation order.
6. Teachers and Students: that teachers and students, as image bearers of God, are, in mutual respect, to fulfil their calling to develop the earth and to serve God and their neighbour in education.
Bail?? The judges were tripping over each other in an effort to release him that I’m sure bail never crossed their minds.
I went to vote on my blackberry and found a link to CBC mobile services. Saw they have an app for CBC music,thought that might be interesting. Clicked the link to BB World and there it was – Jian’s New Wave first on the list in the promotion on BB World. I laughed;
As usual, the comments section at CBC is filled with anti-conservative, ant-harper vitriol. I love the irony of “CBC News does not have a left-leaning bias,” spouted not only by the CBC itself, but its contributing left-leaning fan base whom it caters to. If they weren’t so damn intellectually dishonest about it, they’d actually read the comments section and concluded: “Hmmm, it seems our critics have proven their point after all.”
Good thing he didn’t get out a week earlier or he would have been on the ballot for the NDP in Alberta. And he would now be a MLA.
Robert in Ottawa >
“….he still is an example to other jihadis of beating the enemy system”
Well said, not to mention it reinforces they’re (true) belief in how weak and indefensible the west is.
Of course, now that he is once again a free-range jihadi, living in his lawyer Brian Edney’s house in Edmonton, it will be at lot easier for some still-angry American vet to get close to him and administer a double-tap. And that would be a terrible tragedy, and I’m not recommending it, not at all.
TimR >
“…..he would have been on the ballot for the NDP in Alberta. And he would now be a MLA.”
The kids already said that they’ll be consulting sources outside of Alberta on how to run Alberta.
Political Consultants make the most money in political partys. Wanna bet that Omar becomes an Albertan NDP political consultant? I’d put money on it.
I’m not sure if any who are slagging this young man have kids, but I have a son the same age as Kadhr was when he committed his “terrorist act”. I am hard pressed to believe that my son is capable of formulating criminal intent in anything. I do believe he would attack anyone who tried to harm my wife and I though (although his only “weapons” are Airsoft and Nerf) . I do not believe that by any standard of natural justice that holding minor children accountable for adult consequences for actions they commit in defense of their families (however misguided from a geopolitical perspective)is justified. I look at actions by say the RCMP officers who killed Robert Dzanski (Sp probably wrong, but the guy killed at YVR) and the consequences they suffer for the needless killing of a confused man and then conspiring to lie about it to numerous courts and inquiries. Are they going to caged like animals for a decade and water boarded? These are adults. Sworn agents of the Crown. They KNOW what they did is a crime (as evidenced by their cover-up). How does their punishment stack up compared to Khadr’s? I know I’m not making friends here with these sentiments, but I ask all who want to throw this now young man under the bus to consider my reasoning.
Omar’s lawyer is angrier and more violent than the convicted terrorist.
Did you put quotation marks around the words terrorist act? This little f*cker was shown on video building IED’s that were used against coalition troops. He was pictured walking around carrying the hands and feet of those his ideological brethren considered apostates. He left Canada to join the forces of those who are actively trying to undermine our way of life through violence. He is a traitor and a terrorist, as is his family, full stop.
Throw him under the bus?
Christ, give your head a shake.
Soooo….will the other darling of the justice system, Killer Karla, be asking little Omer out on a date?
The only solace I can take from all this is that when the stuff hits the fan it usually happens in one of the lefty urban holes where the dickheads live and vote.
Peter >
“I ask all who want to throw this now young man under the bus to consider my reasoning.”
Some other reasoning – So how would you feel about it if one of YOUR kids patriotically went as a medic to Afghanistan to help both your country and theirs in a terrible war, but little Omar from your Canadian neighborhood also followed them over there and killed your son or daughter with a hand grenade?
Taking up arms against allies is treason. When I was fifteen I knew the difference between right and wrong. If I were to sum up your post in one word the word first coming to mind would be… Drivel.
“He is not just a convicted Murderer, he is also a war criminal.”
No, and no.
First of all, was convicted by a kangaroo court that used evidence obtained from torture. I know you guys don’t have a problem with that sort of thing, but that kind of medieval questioning has no place in a 21st Century legal system. It’s not only obscene, it produced inaccurate results. As for any evidence that he actually threw the grenade, if you read the transcripts, it was mayhem. How anybody could know it was him for sure is laughable. Furthermore, if it was him, the kid threw it after being horrifically wounded in a firefight. He was almost assuredly not saying “I’m gonna get me a medic!” (I would like to see how any of you guys would act in a firefight like the one he was in. You’d probably want to bring extra Depends.)
Which brings me to your next sad little point. He was a 15-year-old boy dragged along to fight in a war by his extremist father. This is called being a child soldier, which means that Khadr was himself the victim of a war crime. (Article 8(2)(b)(xxvi) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court). So I’m not sure how you think that somebody whose very presence in a war is a war crime, can be a war criminal.
That you don’t see that he was the victim of a nutjob is an indicator of just how rotten your souls are. You are so blinded by your hate that you want anybody even remotely connected to radical Islam destroyed. Most of you appear want non-radical Islam destroyed, and that’s because you are yourselves, radical rightwingers. That’s why you come here. To listen to Kate’s twisted version of reality.
But I digress. If you truly believe this kid should be held responsible, then write your MP and demand that all Canadians 15 and older be allowed to smoke, drink, screw (kids their age, AND adults), own a gun, vote, join the army, or become cops. Because hey… if Omar was mature enough, so are they. Do you really want kids as young as 15 being cops? Or driving with the option of buying booze? Do you want your daughters dating 40-year-olds? Because when you say Omar was mature enough to be held responsible for fighting in a war, you must also extend that responsibility to all 15-year-olds.
I hope none of you pretend to be Christians. Because once again, you’ve wiped your collected bums with the New Testament. Particularly the pages where Jesus talks about forgiveness. You would do well to listen to Omar, you might actually learn something about humility and forgiveness. Maybe grow as human beings. Imagine that!
That he is alive today is testament to the failings of the JAG led mistakes of the US military. They should never have created the GITMO facility as all enemy combatants should have been dealt with in theatre (interrogated, killed or released).
His release is a win – win.
In the first case all citizens have the right of due process. He has been before a judge and has his case presented, however much I disagree with the outcome. Forget his rights, mine have been upheld.
If, as I expect, he returns to the jihad he will become the best case for the stripping of citizenship for those who take up arms against us. This extends to the pigs presently in Iraq/Syria.
Both of these issues are greater than this animal. His every action will be watched so I anticipate much amusement at the feel-good brigades expense. Pass the popcorn.
What is sooooo funny/sad about your comment is that you, like other rightwingers, probably think people should be allowed to own guns so they can take up arms against your government. Is that not treasonous thought? When does that government become worthy of treason.
The problem here is that people like Omar’s father saw Americans as just another batch of invaders in Arab/Muslim lands. First the English, then the Russians, now the Americans. He’s right about that… more than a century of colonialism has F-ed up that part of the world, and his radicalism is basically a response to that. It doesn’t make him right. I makes him crazy and unreasonable. So crazy and unreasonable that he dragged his son, just a kid to fight with him.
What would you have done Granddad if your father told you that you must come to fight off invaders in the homeland? Would you go? What moral compass would you be using that would tell you that this was wrong? Do conservatives not respect their parents and elders? Is this not one of your core principals? I thought rejection of those core values was a Leftist trait?
Again… Khadr was a child soldier. It is a war crime to force or encourage anyone under the age of 18 to fight in a war. He is not the criminal here. He’s a victim. You can’t see that, but that’s because you have a mind similar to his father’s. You, and most people here, are not very much unlike the people you hate. You are so rigidly dogmatic that you are incapable of seeing anything beyond your own tiny little world view. You are part of the problem.
John,
The only person here who needs to grow as a human being is you.
It’s really too bad that the only apparent empathy you have is for murderers reserving your hatred for law abiding Canadians who value their own culture.
You’re a radical left-winger, spending your time trolling Conservative blog sites to spew your hatred at those that believe in their country and foundational values that made it a world class example of what a free, democratic, and capitalist country should be. An envy of the World!
Instead you support everything that would diminish and destroy such a country, all the while idolizing failed foreign cultures and their backwards value systems.
Take a flight, and a spare grenade with you, you’ll need it.
My Grand father served in WWI, my father in WWII (and both suffered terribly from the experience) my brother put in 42 years in uniform (and suit) for the CAF and they threw him under the bus. None of the three provided succor (or financing)for our foes. I wish I could say the same for the family of the guy who got us into the current mess. I see killers like the Clinton’s pilloried for lying about private matters and compare to liars like James Clapper perjuring themselves before political and legal panels and getting promoted. I see low hanging fruit of war criminals throughout the US administration and security services who have willfully killed hundreds of thousands and see some poor kid being the poster child for evil…give me a break.
Well, if he goes straight, good for him. If he doesn’t, his supporters have a host of things they can blame it on.
As I thought John, you weren’t offering an opinion, you were looking for an excuse to morally castigate those with whom you (quite rightly) knew would call you on your support for this piece of garbage.
People like you will go to any lengths to justify what he did. You are as much an ideologue as the people you deign to chastise.
I
I don’t idolize failed cultures or their value systems. Quite the opposite. The kind of justice system you guys want is not unlike the one Khadr’s father and other radical Islamists want. You want retribution. You want revenge. You don’t care about reform.
I respect the rule of law. The rule of law states that Khadr was a child soldier, which is a war crime in and of itself. That you gloss over that bit just demonstrates the kind of mental gymnastics you have to do to maintain your twisted world view.
I’m actually a centrist. I only seem like a “radical leftwinger”, because you are so far to the right. The only people further to the right of you guys are the gang at Storm Front, and I’m sure that many of those folk visit here when they’re looking for a little light conversation.
Can’t help but notice you’ve not addressed my point that we should treat all 15-year-olds like adults if we treat Khadr as one. There’s those mental gymnastics working again!
Khadr will behave, he has no choice. He will be very friendly and pious until his ever loving lawyer litigates us for millions of dollars then the world is his oyster.
IMO his lawyer should be forced to apologize to the PM of this country for calling him a bigot who hates Muslims.

Good post. It appears that the military tribunals are going to get a bit of scrutiny in this & other cases —
Destined for an Epic Fail: The Problematic Guantánamo Military Commissions

Apparently you must think judges are infallible. I don’t. How are your rights being upheld when a judge makes an erroneous decision? Judges are accountable to no one.8
Peter >
So you’re at war with the establishment, I get that. But from where I’m standing using poor little Omar as a biological weapon of propaganda and hate against the Canadian and American people is the wrong way to extract revenge.
Whether the US or Canadian governments are corrupt does not mean that the other side is good.
As the confused poster troll “john” pointed out with parroted talking points “using child soldiers is wrong”. How very true, but Islam uses child soldiers consistently around the world to murder and maim civilians in as many countries around the world as they can. Omar Kadar was an Islamic weapon then and he’s being used as a leftist weapon today.
As once posted on SDA “Appeasing your enemies does not make them friends”, when the Liberal Left eventually get the full meaning of that phrase, and understand the depth of Islam’s hatred towards them, and grasp the dangerous situation that they have placed true Canadian’s in it’ll most probably be too late.
“Omar Kadar was an Islamic weapon then and he’s being used as a leftist weapon today.”
That’s why we have laws about child soldiers. Because it’s wrong to turn kids into weapons. That doesn’t mean it’s ok, or makes sense to turn around and hold kids responsible for the actions of those who turned them into the weapon in the first place. You are failing to grasp the very simple concept behind having such a law in the first place.
You and I did as well as his legal fees and then what about the legal suit to be brought against the government of the day regarding his “unlawful incarceration”
John >
“The only people further to the right of you guys are the gang at Storm Front,”
Wrong again, it’s we who are centrist right, but it’s you are so far left that the only thing you apparently read outside of Mao’s little Red Book is the “Noble Jihadist” in English.
As far as you’re silly question about treating “ALL” 15 year olds as adults, I have always advocated treating minor’s that commit heinous murders as Adults. Only a far left-wing fanatic would equate smoking and drinking with murder when it suits a radical agenda.
Edney should apologize to the Prime Minister with copious quantities of cash.
@knight99 “Appeasing your enemies does not make them friends”
I accept that statement as fact. However, behaving as bad as or worse than your enemies because you presume to have the moral high ground makes you the antitheses of that which wish to be regarded as. Stalin and Mao were big on (show) trials and justice…have we fallen to that level? Can you seriously believe what you are saying? You managed to inject your venom and vent your spleen at me on my first post, but you neglected the other question I posed about perjuring RCMP who killed an innocent man under the color of authority for his perceived status as a security risk. What punishment for them is fair?
John >
“That’s why we have laws about child soldiers. Because it’s wrong to kids into weapons”
Un huh, so what are you saying now that Canada made poor little Omar into a child soldier to go out and murder that nasty US soldier, so we owe him something now?
Canadians are guilty of producing Child Soldiers, it that your shtick? Or is it that all Canadian “right wingers” made little Omar into a murderous little freedom fighter and they need to pay, “We have Child Soldier Laws don’t you know”!
Yea, I don’t think so.
So if you’re so against the fact that Islam turned “poor little” Omar into a Child Soldier why are you so desperate to turn him into a political weapon for Islam?
Peter >
“but you neglected the other question I posed about perjuring RCMP”
I guess I did but not intentionally, I’m multi-tasking and overlooked it. The answer of course is yes, those Vancouver RCMP were murderers and should have gone to jail for life. I posted as such at the time. I’ve never advocated police brutality.
But again I’m not understanding the correlation you guys keep coming up with between innocent civilians committing no crimes verses enemy combatants murdering soldiers or other civilians.
Truly “dudes/ dudette’s” they’re not the same thing.
I am not sure of the immigration status of the khadr family in Afghanistan under the Taliban, however I do know that the Taliban (and Osama) were clients of the intelligence services and military that subsequently invaded them. The strategy is explicitly laid out in Bryzenski’s (sp) Grand Chess Board. Curiously the catalyst for the current problems was Gulf War 1 where the West provided Saddam with WMD, weapons and intelligence to fight Iran, all funded by the Gulf states. When that war dragged to stale mate the Kuwaitis (a former province of Iraq) pressed for immediate repayment of the billions they lent to Iraq). To make that unlikely they hired western oil firms to slant drill into an Iraqi oil reservoir and began dumping millions of barrels of Iraq’s oil on the market to drive down the price while making unreasonable repayment demands. When Saddam approached US Ambassador April Glaspie for reconciliation, she green lighted his invasion plans saying, “the US government has no interest in arab on arab disputes”. And here we are today arguing about “war crimes” of a 15 year old.
I would hope and expect that the Alberta Law Society will discipline Omar Khadr lawyer Dennis Edney, for his ignorant remarks, about Stephen Harper being a “bigot” and that Harper “hates Muslims” at a media event.
What names did Dennis Edney call the crown prosecutor for prosecuting Khadr and making some unflattering remarks about Khadr in commission of his job?
What blistering personal attack would Edney have made of the judge, if she had ruled against him and his client Khadr – would he call her a “bigot” and one who “hates Muslims”
Is this conduct becoming of a member of the legal profession in Alberta or anywhere else?
Khadr is remorseful for all his actions and has changed his life around if he distances himself from these remarks of defamation and a malicious attack of the Prime Minister of this country.
Since you brought up the Rome Protocol …
(From Wiki, Military Use of Children)
“In 1989, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 38, proclaimed: “State parties shall take all feasible measures to ensure that persons who have not attained the age of 15 years do not take a direct part in hostilities.” However, people who are over the age of 15 but under the age of 18 are still voluntarily able to take part in combat as soldiers. The Optional protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict to the Convention that came into force in 2002 stipulates that its State Parties – “shall take all feasible measures to ensure that persons below the age of 18 do not take a direct part in hostilities and that they are not compulsorily recruited into their armed forces”.
Omar Khadr, always portrayed in the media as a 15-yr. old, was actually two months shy of his 16th birthday when he killed the US medic. He was born on Sept. 19, 1986. He was involved in that particular battle on July 27, 2002. He was NOT a child soldier, as his advocates have been saying. So, the entire premise on which his defense has been mounted has been bogus.
Nevertheless … it has been and will continue to be a losing battle on the part of the Harper Government to pursue further appeals. Let’s face it, the judiciary has been gleefully handing loss after loss to the government for the legislation it has been bringing forward, so perhaps it’s time to give up this seemingly unwinnable battle.
John said: “First of all, was convicted by a kangaroo court that blah blah blady blah.”
Seriously John, military courts are not some kind of drum-head trial. They are what our society has constructed to protect the rights of soldiers, civilians and even sworn enemies in time of war.
The jihad don’t have military courts. They have a knife and they cut your head off with it. Little Omar is with them. He is entitled to ZERO protection under any international agreement from the Geneva Convention forward. He is a non-uniformed enemy combatant caught killing a -medic-. That last bit is more important than the other bits, you’re not allowed to kill medical corps people under the Laws of War.
That he was captured and treated to millions of dollars worth of litigation in two countries is proof enough that this whole Middle East War thing is nothing more than a show to give us rubes something to look at while they steal all out money.
But don’t worry John. If our government continues on the present path, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to discuss it in person with lots of real jihadis right here in Canada. Probably at the mall or the grocery store. That’s where they’ll show up to demonstrate Sharia Law as it applies to infidels.
peter >
I get the corruption in the west, and have commented very strongly against the “Arab Spring” and any further Imperialistic incursions into the ME/NE . As a person who has spent allot of time in the ME/NA I stated clearly on SDA debating the leftist pseudo conservative commenter ET that overthrowing Gadhafi would lead to major tribal breakdowns and the rise of Islamic extremists in the region.
Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t create the extremists they were always there, but it was the dictatorial status quo that held them in check, including prisons.
I have always advocated non-interventionism, but that comes with a price, sanctioning rogue regimes and closing our borders to their extremism.
We’ve done neither.
Step #1 – With the full support of the so called “peaceable left” the Empire has flourished in bombing out the 5000 year old backward cultures systems of stability, destroyed governments, and their little dirt towns and villages along the way. All supported by the left simply because a Black Man was leading the charge.
Step #2 – The Liberal left and other Globalist minions have insisted that we keep our borders wide open to Islamic extremism while imposing a police state on its own law abiding citizens for the sake of “public safety”. After bombing the piss out of thier homelands. Smart yes?
Then when known Jihadists are flying in and out of cities like Calgary and Toronto to go fight our own troops in faraway Islamic lands – Our Liberal Left screams about how unfair we are to the poor little disaffected youth living in our cities who value the Quran and extremist views over our own traditional values of freedom and liberty.
So in a nutshell – Piss on poor little Omar and the bottom feeders that use him as a weapon against their own nation.
“What is sooooo funny/sad about your comment is that you, like other rightwingers, probably think people should be allowed to own guns”
What is so dangerous/sad about your comment is that you like other leftards think you’re the ones to “allow”.
