  1. There are so many sites on the internet that demand you join facebook to comment it’s sick.
    Too bad for them.

  2. Yes. Take for example Powerline with a view generally to the right. To comment on an article you require a Facebook account. Isn’t that opposed to your right to freely associate with people and companies of your own choosing.

  3. The respect for anyone’s privacy has been eliminated completely. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not living in western society or does not have a computer/cell phone. I doubt if big brother is interested in most of our mundane lives, but if for any reason we peak their interest, it’s all out there at the click of a mouse. It’s in the name of national security all the way down to smart meters, how many guns you own and bill collection, but only a few years shy of mandatory chip implants. That will be the final frontier. No tin foil hat required to see where we were 40 years ago and the progress of the nanny state since then. I don’t know if resistance is futile because it hasn’t even been tried. We are compliant little sheep and nanny knows best. Or so we are told.

  4. I stay away from facebook and really resent it when sites that have been regulars for me start using facebook for comments. I can no longer comment on them.

  5. No, that’s their right to choose not to associate with people or companies who won’t join them in the cult of Facebook. E.g. me, I just won’t join, and they are free to not associate with me and not provide a means for me to interact with them online. It leaves me more time to live a real life.

  6. That’s true but it does seem rather incongruous that often times good writing would be allied with the dismal Facilebook.
