  1. Children need to be guided and moulded before they get power. If they take power and act out in bad ways they must be punished to show the rest that such behaviour can’t be emulated or there will be real life consequences.
The mission is teach, to guide, as well as to provide an example. The children who don’t act out in violence have a right to an uninterrupted education and teachers have a right to a safe workplace.

  2. Why is it that when they talk about empowering teenagers I get an image of a conch shell and a boars head on a staff.

  3. If you think this is something new think again. School administrators have been ordering classroom teachers to “overlook” violence by minority students for 35 years that I know of.

  4. Proglodyte experimenting with anarchy – of course this only works works with a moralistic self governing populace of individuals – not one which has been dumbed down with amoralist self righteous sensitivity to the micro aggression of others – where all are guilty and none escape political pillories.
Prog-University is a waste of time and produces those unfit to run a nation.

  5. Poor teachers.
They sat back and watched the cess-pools being dug instead of intervening to stop it.

  6. Stupid liberals and their stupid ideas look what they lead to Liberal lack brains and no heart just idiotic ideologies that result in disaster

  7. Mr. “I don’t blame, I don’t punish” has obviously never been punched in the face.

  8. What can one say, being non-academic, non-intellectual with mind of his own.
    Let us see now:
“And empowering teenagers to be part of the solution, having them control the [classroom] environment, control the culture, be the leaders, listening to them, respecting them — when we do that, wonderful things happen for kids in communities that didn’t happen historically.”
Highly intellectual bullshit. It appears from afar that apart from definitions of the term, it means a lot of wishful thinking, ignoring reality of ages, ignoring the development of young people without setting norms of behaviour and generally accepting of anarchy being the dominant feature of school life as “freedom”.
    And:
The administrator lectured her about how hard it is for young black men to overcome a criminal record. Worse, she was told she should examine what role she, “as a white woman” holding unconscious racial biases, played in the attack…
Here is another intellectual virtuosity, you see, the fault is obviously with the teacher, the poor dear schoolboy is a victim.
You see this is the end of the story, there is no requirement for any action. The teacher is at fault and the schoolboy can go on continuing with mayhem until he kills somebody. While it will obviously be not his fault, it would be even more positive if the potential victim was one of the “educators”, not the deplorable, not self-examined, self-racist teachers.
Self-criticism is one of main features for socialists/fascists and communists. It is the way to control the mind of the plebeians.

  9. It appears Talking Circles and in this case, Talking Sticks as well, have been instituted in BC. Aboriginal Education School District 71 in Courtney now has both. I’m sure that will work out well…

  10. We have been successfully (more-or-less) raising children for countless millennia…..now some idiot gets licence to try something new……
Didn’t it occ ur to these geniasses than child rearing was refined and perfected a long, long time back…..
The solutions for anti-social behaviour were simple….death or banishment.

  11. peterj-
The problem for the left these days is too many teens are getting red pilled on the internet and getting to work at purging their brainwashing. Gotta get them voting before they get a clue.

  12. Our educational systems are very busy trying to create a society of anarchists.
    This will not end well.

  13. It seems to me that someone wrote a book about this once. What was the name of it? Oh yeah, “Lord of the Flies”. Where’s a British naval officer when you need one?
