Temperature Adjustments Transform Arctic Climate History
We saw previously how the temperature history for Paraguay, and a large slice of the surrounding region, had been altered as a result of temperature adjustments, which had significantly reduced historic temperatures and changed a cooling trend into a warming one.
I can now confirm that similar “cooling the past” adjustments have been carried out in the Arctic region, and that the scale and geographic range of these is breathtaking. Nearly every current station from Greenland, in the west, to the heart of Siberia (87E), in the east, has been altered in this way. The effect has been to remove a large part of the 1940’s spike, and as consequence removed much of the drop in temperatures during the subsequent cold decades.
The stations affected range from Nuuk, (51W), to Turuhansk (87E). In other words, nearly half way around the Arctic.
Update: This one might have legs.
It should also be noted that the size of the adjustments exceeds greatly the claimed change in temperatures (as little as hundredths of a degree). If you can only measure temperature to an accuracy of half a degree, you cannot then claim changes to within hundredths of a degree. Any research making such claims regarding tiny changes should be summarily tossed out. It’s methodology is irrelevant if it does not observe scientific accuracy of numbers.

Harry, the entire supposed science of global warming is full of this crap. I’ve yet to see anything that isn’t beyond the margin of error. The entire claim may be nothing more than an artifact of adjustment of raw data. And in ways not explained. When we were limited to slide rule accuracy, none of this would ever have happened. Computers and digital calculators have provided an entirely false illusion of accuracy.
The grant money is a byproduct of promoting Agenda 21….as they were programmed to in school.

Pull the same stunts in medical research and it’s called academic fraud. Do it for approval of pharmaceuticals and it’s not only called fraud, but in the US, a felony offence.
I think you see a lot of the same effect in the medical industry. Much of the research on cholesterol, for example, is paid for by Big Pharma. The people who set up guidelines for treatment have a lot of ties to the drug industry. Over time, guidelines for treating high cholesterol have been increased to where most people “should” be taking statins.
It should be no surprise that climate research paid for by the government ends up calling for bigger government. He who pays the piper calls the tune.
It changed from science to activism well over 30 years ago. Once the UN (IPCC) realized they could change the world to meet their own objectives (Agenda 21) the science became academic and the activism became the primary goal. The IPCC research continues to take a beating year after year to the point where their entire platform has been shredded, yet the activism continues unabated, bolstered by mis-information, manipulation and a complicit media that has painted itself into a corner by taking sides instead of actual investigation. It’s not easy to come out and admit that they’ve been fooled for more than 3 decades. So, good for the Telegraph and a few more that have found their integrity and challenged the gospel of mind numbing stupidity.
I worked 17 years in a chem lab… when I told the 2nd ranking lab governance my result was 54.25 deg C he asked how I was SOOOOOOO accurate. I explained that it was half way to half way between the measurement of 55 to 54 and I was confident (currently ROBUST) in my observation of duplicate results from the same solution (liq. I was testing). He asked “would I get the same results?”.
I slunk back to my lab.
4 years of university hadn’t taught me the (correct) answer to that one.

And yes, these frauds are very costly in human life. How many are going to die from Andrew Wakefield’s fake research in Lancet claiming MMR vaccine caused Down Syndrome? Same thing happened in the ’50s, and there was a surge of MMR and polio as a result. And we’re seeing right now the leading edge of this medical fraud with the current outbreak in southern Ontario.

There is no reason to rely on surface measurements, which are now hopelessly corrupted, and invalidated by satellite data which is available for the period in question when humans supposedly were warming the planet, when CAGW was validated, aka “settled.”
Most here know why they don’t do that. Most here know warmists project their own uncertainty on the skeptics, accusing them of cherry picking, when the truth is they would choose one obscure “fact” as incontrovertible proof, even if they had to sift through, misinterpret or ignore mountains of contrary evidence. The watermelons and other useful idiots of the climate change movement are the intended recipients of their message of doom. As long as the dough flows in they’re happy. As for saving the earth, c’mon – nobody believes that claptrap anymore.
It is fun to watch Justin Trudeau commit political suicide over the issue with his recent announcement of a national carbon program, which of course the provinces will be only too willing to engage him. Not. They impose taxes and costs, catch the blowback, and he gets to pull the financial strings from Ottawa. Not going to happen. This guy’s judgment is addled IMO, and today’s circus with Eve Adams (I realized that I couldn’t live with the Tories’ values, right after they fired me), shows both his desperation and overreach that gets more acute as the election approaches – and thank God for that.

I’ve been pointing out for some time how clever the strategy is to lower the past temperatures and claim a high warming rate.
Anyone can validate the present temps, but not the past temps. I cannot figure out what excuse can be used for this, but as several people have pointed out now, no excuse is forthcoming.
If anything, present temperatures should be lowered to allow for Urban Heat Island effect.

When I went to school you NEVER tweaked/homogenized/adjusted raw data! Even when you had an anomaly you didn’t discard it you figured out what gave the the anomaly. Could you imagine the disaster that would occur if the data from a destructive stress test was adjusted? Although said pressure vessel exploded at 120 PSI our computer models indicate that it should be safe at 300 PSI so we need to ‘adjust’ the data to match our models.
Back when they were not teaching this ecology crap they do today when the Three R’s were not REDUCE,REUSE,RECYCLE(They even have a dumb song about it)and kids were not being told the polarbears would dissapear becuase their parents drive a SUV(Back in the 90’s it was Save the Rainforests when we learned over 90% of the rainforests were doing fine)Its just part of Big Brothers sinister plans
