  1. That will just let the gangstas move more quickly back and forth between these two lost cities. I wonder if the term “bullet” relates to the heat these gangstas are packin.

  2. So they are saying that the rest of the electronics computing industry will relocate to Texas…as it is easier to cross the Rio Grande than commute from LA to SF?

  3. The silly project will provide the usual excellent looting opportunities for DemocRat
connected envirocrazies and their big donations rent seeking scum backers.

  4. What they could (should?) do is build it one-way to Texas. With Gerry Brown and his gang running (ruining) things, I expect there will be a mass exodus to – somewhere – when the whole house of cards collapses.

  5. Pure theater – either that or the most delusional optimism seen this side of the looming Cali. bankruptcy.
The state will be an economic basket case before that train is built. Then the Dem cronies will bail for fresh digs in a richer state – say Colorodo

  6. Assuming this thing actually get built (big assumption) it will likely be a shell of what was promised running at a loss to provide convenient business & government travel to high-rollers subsidised by the remaining tax payers. I wouldn’t trust the Dems to run a lemonade stand.

  7. Let’s assume, for the purposes of humor, that the rail system will be built for $68 billion. California’s population as of 2013 (the most recent figure that I could find) was 38.33 million. Simple division reveals that California is going to spend just short of $1,775 per resident to build this thing. How does that make any sense?

  8. “And if the project follows the typical pattern of cost growth for large government projects, experts say it is likely to significantly exceed the $68-billion price tag.”
Yes,expect costs to run about two or three times the estimate, and ridership to be about 30%-50% of projections.
We’ve seen it happen here with every government project ever attempted, no reason to think California, with Sgt.Lejaune’s “the usual excellent looting opportunities for DemocRat connected envirocrazies and their big donations rent seeking scum backers.” will do any better, probably worse.

  9. Since there is already Amtrak service and they have determined a separate dedicated high-speed track is not a viable option for much of the distance, what is even the frickin’ point?
This reminds me of someone who makes sure they max out their credit card before they claim bankruptcy.

  10. Only hope now is that the “big one” happens soon and Californy slides into he sea.

  11. The ineffable Jerry can hold all the ground-breaking ceremonies he likes. Those don’t cost much. This is nothing more than a propaganda ploy to try to extort some federal money for this. Ain’t gonna happen. Congress won’t vote one red nickel to this, and the Land of Fruits and Nuts is broke.
Iowa Jim, it doesn’t make any sense, which is why it won’t happen.
DrD, high-rollers won’t waste time on a high speed train that isn’t very high speed. They’s stay with their private jets.

  12. California already has windmills, so this is the Dem answer to the challenge of how to steal more money from the already broke populace. Nothing will come of it except some really fancy train stations that don’t have any tracks running to them.
Because really, do you want to be on a train doing 200mph across the San Andreas fault?

  13. small plane air coastal service was great 30 years ago, bet it still is. Hop on a twin engine,12 passenger turbo prop and LA to San Diego in about 20-30 minutes, why even bother with the train.

  14. cgh…. the money will be included in a one thousand page bill that no one in congress will read and barry will gladly sign it as one more nail in the coffin that contains the USA.
