Except these jihadis do not differentiate between soldiers and civilians. In fact they specifically target civilians and aim to kill as many as possible. They do not obey the laws of war or even recognize them in any way. They do not wear uniforms and are usually not paid and do not fight for a state. For all those reasons it’s wrong to say that our soldiers are somehow legitimate targets. There’s nothing legitimate about these killers.

I just heard on the news (or the American pravda version NBC) that the Canadians don’t want to have their soldiers walking around in uniform. Do they mean that uniform worn by so many rough men who fought and died for your libruls freedom? That happened once to your southern cousins – in the 60s and 70s. Our keepers thought it was too provoking for our soldiers to wear their uniforms because it would provoke our draft dodgers.
I will make a statement here and now: Any country that does not want its soldiers to wear their uniforms in public is not deserving nationhood. Before I would demand that our soldiers must not wear their uniforms because of muslim immigrants, I would use those same soldiers to roughly remove them (the muslim)from my country – along with the politicians and generals who went along with the demand!
So is this the story…..we have two converts from Quebec who have been radicalized….answering the call for ISIS, both had their passports taken away so they were known to be risks…what’s next?
Will the authorities now find out where they were radicalized,who is in charge of the radicalization, we know it wasn’t a Presbyterian church basement?

Furthermore, when you ‘ice’ a ceremonial guard at point blank range, at the capital War Memorial you’ve just managed to anger every serving and retired military personnel across the country; never mind not having any respect for the fallen in the run up to Remembrance Day. I believe any cogent response will anticipate a significant amount of military ‘push back’.
This was obviously done to elicit ‘monumental’ anger; and the murderer wasn’t looking to survive the day. This was pure and simple an ideological Islamofascist act of murder and abuse.

After watching 20-odd years of mohammedan (don’t call them Muslims -doing so is an act of submission and contrition in the eyes of their faithful) savagery, I can now state with total certainty that I am utterly unfit for service in any Western military.
Not that anyone in their right mind, with an ounce of respect for the fine art of waging and winning total war, would want to serve in an army in which they had to mask their identity from their fellow citizens, and dishonour their glorious dead from two World Wars by shedding their uniforms in public.
Here’s a military fact for you: when your nation’s soldiers have to sneak around out of uniform in your home country, you’ve already lost the bloody war, for f***’s sake.

Am I hearing this correctly – have our “ARMED” forces been told to cower in place by their military leadership and to pretend that they are civilians?
They’ve always had troops at Fort Drum. It’s been the home of the 10th Mountain Division for decades.

As has been mentioned in the threads here today, soldiers on ceremonial guard duty aren’t issued ammunition, though they do carry their C7 assault rifles. Peter Akman at CTV just pointed this out during a live hit. If the mainstream media is beginning to question the absurdity of our *soldiers* not being able to fight back, then maybe we’ll see some of the rest of the public waking up.
The real ‘tragedies’ are that a soldier on guard had no ammo, and that a shooter got as far as he did before an armed civilian stopped him. People on the Parliament Building security detail should lose their jobs over this.
I realize that but the cross Canada regimental commanders would not have been told something by the Chief of Defense that was not true. These troops would have been in an ideal position to intervene if necessary.

Just listened to PM SH address Canadians, then Tom Mulcair. Good words by both. Apparently according to CBC, Justin is still in lock down. Is that to prevent him from saying something stupid like “root causes”? One of the clueless CBC narrators was wondering about the motive of the gunman. As a serving member (and one who was under ‘lockdown’ in Ottawa today), I encourage commentators to reflect on why our ability to wear uniform in public is so important to members of the military. In a Westminster Parliamentary system (and I daresay a few related ones), the right to parade in uniform and under arms is a right cherished by military members and demonstrates that the institution has subjugated the use of ultimate coercive force to our civilian masters. Every time a civilian sees a Soldier standing guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, or on parade under arms, he should understand that civilian control of armed force won the argument of the day.
I challenge every Canadian to stand shoulder to shoulder with our Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen on this Nov 11th in particular to demonstrate that a violent nihilistic vision for organizing humans is not what we believe. I challenge Canadians to leave their offices on Nov 11th, (rather than simply pausing for a minute), walk down to your local cenotaph and join with your fellow citizens to show that we stand for Canada.
Brian Lilley and John Ivison were just interviewed by Megan Kelly on her Fox show; they were on Parliament Hill today. Lilley took exception to those who are pussyfooting around the ties of the two shooters (Ottawa and Montreal) to Islam.
Hate to say it, but everything – everything made this very easy for the Mohammedan murderer.
Now, if the citizenry was well armed and disposed to protect themselves, free to carry concealed, and the courts and laws recognized the need for self-defense, the prospective killer wouldn’t find this nearly as easy. Surprised by Thomas Mulcair’s remarks, actually suitable for the leader of the opposition. I still wouldn’t vote for him, but credit where it is due. I expect that Justin’s handler’s will be rehearsing him well into the night before they allow him in front of a camera.
