Chow On This

Rex Murphy: And behind that seemingly frivolous responses is a deeper one. “Normal” politics has brought these voters no comfort, and the class of people that owns “normal” politics has brought no harvest of joy either. It is “a plague on all your houses” kind of moment. And Ron Ford is “a plague on all your houses” kind of candidate.

  1. Rex nails it dead-on, especially with this:
“How many voters, I wonder, see ticking off Rob Ford’s loudest opponents as more pleasurable than voting for a “sensible” candidate?”
It’s long well-established in politics that people vote against something. And voting against Chow and the sneering, self-righteous PC crowd is just too delicious an opportunity to miss.

  2. Typo in the lead paragraph – that’s Rob Ford, not Ron Ford I assume. And three cheers for Rob Ford and Rex Murphy! Both are worthy Canadians for the heart attacks/head explosions they bring on for the lefties.

  3. I’m not from Toronto but given the opportunity I would vote for Ford if it meant ticking off the Toronto Royalty AKA the Laurentian Elite.

  4. I’d vote for him just to enjoy the progressive pinheads popping all over downtown Toronto.

  5. People have almost stopped voting because the people they are supposed to vote, for have already been picked by other politicians with the interests of the bureaucrats behind them.
Our candidates are the rewashed usual flunkies of the left, with no room for any others. Its why Ford is catching up. People are angry at the presumed crowning of the elitists choice.

  6. “He thrives when they despise. And since virtually everything he does causes them to despise all the more, he has more than enough fuel to power him through the next two months of campaigning.”
It will be an undoubted pleasure to see the ‘progressive Toronto’ rend their garments in fits of frothing lather. Cue Ms Mallice…

  7. From the article (speaking of Chow’s plummet in the polls):
“But some of the credit plainly goes to Olivia Chow. When asked during a media event how she would be different from Rob Ford’s tax-and-spend mayoral predecessor, David Miller, she offered the sneering reply: “I’m not white. Not male. Want to start there?” So spake or emailed (the exchange came during an online forum) the long-time queen of diversity and inclusion.”

  8. Rex is right on the money. I have been trying to explain the same ideas to folks here in BC, but they just don’t understand it.
Were I in Ontario I would happily vote for Ford, and I would do so for precisely the reasons Rex has stated.
Chow always rode on Layton’s coattails.

  9. OT
So, whats with the pro Putin/Russian “No war with Russia” thingy on the left side column?

  10. we can guarantee that several hundred thousand voters will throw their vote his way to give a finger to the right-thinking class.
This race is not about skin colour or sex. It is very much about the divide between those who think they are always right, and a fair number of almost everyone else.

Rex is correct, and to some extent this attitude exists all across the country and at the federal level as well. People are fed up with the elitist snobs who live above the law and claim to know what’s best for everyone else.

  12. How many of those girls that gave a hand job to Jacko would Ms. Chow-Chow allow in?

  13. Was speaking with my lawyer yesterday. He made a remark about “Redford” and then “Ford” referring to, I guess, bad politicians. I was going to say “Ford’s probably going to win, how do you like that?” but decided not to bother.
OTOH look who he’s running against – “I’m not white. Not male. Want to start there?” Chow or John Tory, who has yet to find an election for which he couldn’t manage to put his foot in his mouth and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Anyway love this in Rex’s article: “It has been amazing to watch Chow slip to third place. Rob Ford, the great helmsman of punk politics, has now crashed out in front of the woman who (the Toronto Star long assured us) was supposed to waltz away with the race, fresh from her stint as MP in the House of Commons. Ms. Chow has plummeted markedly — from her start at 38% to a despairing 23%.”
I’m no fan of Rob Ford, but will nevertheless get a real good laugh if/when he wins in Toronto.

  14. Mention “Laurentian elite” in Toronto and no one will know, or care, what you are talking about. The closest anybody in TO will ever get to the Laurentians is to go skiing one weekend. Few could find Ottawa on a map. They’ve heard of Winnipeg, have relatives in Montreal, New York, Miami and Woodbridge. The Rest of Canada is not fly-over country, its fly-away from country.
Most never heard of Pickering, have no idea what’s west of Pearson airport. Don’t know that there is an “east”, and understand you hold your breath going over the Skyway bridge on the way to Buffalo international airport, well, just because.
The rest of Canada is irrelevant to most Torontonians. They weren’t born here, their relatives live somewhere else and they vacation everywhere but Canada. The ones that own property in cottage country who aren’t German, from Pennsylvania or Ohio, are the last stumbling remnants of the the first European settlers. Germany will buy them out eventually too.

  15. I would trade Naheed Nenshi for Rob Ford in a heartbeat. As an added bonus I’d be willing to kick three Aldermen of my choice and a half dozen senior bureaucrats chosen at random.

  16. Exactly Joe. The Laurentian Elite Fabian socialists have been running this country long enough and anyone that can poke them in the eye is a hero in my eyes.

  17. I can’t wait for the same article that replace the name of Rob Ford with Justin Truedough

  18. I’d vote for Ford if I lived in Toronto, he’s the farthest from the Socialist cesspool that has engulfed that city for too long. Also it would really displease Nanny Wynne, our illustrious wind mill pusher and Premier.

  19. Saw Chow at St Lawrence market t’day – majorly hoping she wouldn’t be shleping by my stall – if so i’da yelled goFordgo!! at the right moment.
I was speculating with me neighboring vendor if she’d drop out to give it to Tory – can’t see it ‘appening tho. After giving up her plush gig in Ottawar what would be left? – hang out with Smitherman?! har!
She’ll hang in hoping for a miracle – and Ford will go up the middle!

  20. If Chowcesceau loses I wonder where she will go next to suck off the public teat. She barely speaks english well enough to hold down a decent paying real job. And she doesn’t seem to have any marketable skills beyond being a useless politician.

  21. I’d vote for him for no other reason than sound fiscal local government. If I wanted to avoid voting for a scandalous politician, I’d have such a smourg to choose from. Let me see………… JFR – RFK – Teddy – Jesse – (not s0) Sharpton – yes… even MLK …..the list goes on and on.
My brain was steaming with all the possibilities. Not to mention Jackoff himself and his comfort spot…………

What Rex Murphy has forgotten is the rich and beautiful (self-appointed) did absolutely everything possible to denigrate the person whom the real people elected to be Mayor of Toronto.
The Toronto media editorial boards just could not accept the ridicule, for a big, fat, non-intellectual type to be Mayor of the best city in the world, by all the other self-satisfied media types struggling to survive in a Canada
After all what did this so-called representative ever do. Did Ford, my goodness what a common name, bring a Museum into being or an art gallery? All he did was to befriend people of colour and fund and coach an inner city High School football team.
They purchased smear from people; they encourage individuals to setup situations for exploitation; they revel in the ongoing attention their best city in the world was receiving from the real world class comedians , while off hand expressing their embarrassment.
The attention stayed in place week after week and the rich and beautiful people just had to field those hilarious phone calls from across America and do you believe it from across the Atlantic..
A steady feed to these sensational -seekers by the lower echelons of this my Toronto gang. Providing an ongoing stress inducing breakdown, which none of the council back stabbers and perpetrators could have withstood.
But y’all see they denigrated the real people’s elected Mayor. They abused the person who finally set aside the privileged people. No I am not surprised and if for some reason the negative comments of skilful writing by Rex Murphy bring on more scurrilous activities for sensationalizing Rob Ford’s campaign, Rob Ford can still give the self-satisfied a single-finger salute.

  23. I for one was very pleased to see this site with a link here at SDA.
And for the record, it is the evil american government who has instigated the entire Ukrainian debacle. It was the americans who staged the coup of the elected Ukrainian government and it was their stooges who shot that airline out of the sky in order to pin it on the Russians. When are people going to open their eyes and see the wake of death and destruction that follows their involvement?
We must all write our MP and the PMO and tell them that supporting the american and british war machines is totally unacceptable.

  24. That wuz some palace the deposed “elected” president had…..
I bet ya deny any electoral irregularities in Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia etc where no one(1) vote was cast for Romney and voter turnout exceeded the registered voters….based on voter rolls outdated containing deceased, imprisoned and migrated voters.
    Back under yer bridge.
    PERVERT!

  25. A quick check at our beloved CBC and there is nothing on WK leaving her team or her slide into third.
All the more reason to vote ABC.

  26. Steady now.
There is still no evidence on which side shot the airplane out of the sky, even though a Ukrainian general went on record saying it was possible the plane was shot down by his side. After all, they have the weaponry and expertise.
Point No. 2. The Ukrainian army uses military equipment manufactured in Russia, including the BUK. Therefore, when NATO says ‘Russian’ tanks have been spotted within the Ukrainian border, they are correct. Trouble for the propagandists is that it does not identify which side is driving the Russian-manufactured equipment. Could well be Russian-made tanks manned by a Ukrainian crew. Could be staged, since NATO is releasing the satellite images.
Oh, well. Much more comfortable to fall back on old prejudices that be convinced by the facts, I guess.
