Reader Tips

Long before he grew his hair out and his only number one song Take This Job and Shove It hit the airwaves, archetypal country outlaw Johnny Paycheck’s honky-tonk moan was so natural that you just knew he’d spent a lot of time moaning with his head on the table in actual honky-tonks, and that it was Motel Time Again on a fairly regular basis.
Here at SDA, it’s Reader Tips time again.

  1. Rebels who captured Mosul last week have not harmed Christian residents or churches in what is Iraq’s second-largest city, the Vatican’s top envoy in Iraq told Rudaw
“The guerrillas who are in control of Mosul have not committed any violent act or damaged the churches there,” said Archbishop Giorgio Lingua, the Apostolic Nuncio (Pope’s envoy) in Iraq.

This is not that surprising. Most of the uprising in Iraq isn’t ISIS, it’s indigenous Sunnis who hate the government. They hate the government and Shia and want to fight them, not Christians. ISIS is smart enough not to rock the boat unless they want another Sahwa.

  2. What do you call the release of a paper by one of Justin Trudeau’s advisors? If you’re Jennifer Ditchburn of Canadian Press, you call it a news story.
What I want to know is what Trudeau’s advisor’s aunt’s cousin had for breakfast last Friday.

  3. Where your ideology says you should live
    By Reid Wilson June 17
Last week’s Pew Research Center report detailing the partisanship that increasingly defines American life showed the average American is much more likely to choose to live near people of similar ideological bents. Liberals like living in urban areas, within walking distance of shops and neighbors. Conservatives prefer the wide-open spaces outside the city that puts more distance between themselves and the next-closest house.
But once you’ve identified the state in which you want to live, who’s going to tell you which Zip codes are best for your ideological leanings?
Answer a few simple questions… pick your favorite state, and … their data will show you the Zip code that’s most ideologically in tune with your beliefs.

    Snots all over keyboard…
    You owe me one.

  5. Re: N. Gateway Pipeline.
Check out the venom at CBC!! This is the great Canadian TV-Radio network that receives 1.1 billion$ a year to make Canada a united country, until they get west of Winnipeg.
It`s also interesting to note that Justin Trudeau, who inherited millions that his grandfather made with a chain of gasoline stations, now promises to stop Western Canada from selling it`s oil.

  6. Don’t be so surprised about CBC. It’s an entertainment department of the government. It’s an old entrenched bureaucracy that has endured many prime ministers over the decades. When did CBC ever gave a reason to believe it was delivering unbiased news? CBC crafts an entertainment product specifically tailored to a leftist, urban, affluent, hipster demographic. They call some of it ‘the news’. Don’t be fooled by government bureaucracy propaganda.

  7. Pass the Patchouli, It’s Slacktivism gone wild on #bcpoli on Twitter and your local facebook stream. They are going to hurt themselves, all that clicking.
Maybe I should open a nail salon, those poor dears.

  8. it makes one wonder what the criteria is for becoming secretary of state.
The same criteria as any politician; win a popularity contest and get elected somewhere. Intelligence or qualifications are irrelevant.

  9. Used to feel safe having the US as our neighbour and ally, with Obama things are a feeling a little less secure.
Have to wonder if our PM has beefed up his security due to his stance on Iran, his defense of Israel, given the Islamist terrorist rampage of torture and killing. We have to assume there are supporters of these dregs of the world right here in Canada.

  10. I saw Johnny Paycheck open for Neil Young and the International Harvesters in Kamloops in 1986.

  11. Something to be concerned about….the Federal Liberals and NDP are against the pipeline, we’ll ignore the freaking Native groups out to cause trouble at any opportunity. Apparently they all prefer oil from some of the worst nations on earth led by dictators and despots and theocracies against our way of life.
They must also want kill our economy, as if a province like Ontario isn’t enough we have perpetual have-not Quebec dependent on equalization from the very places they want to shut down.
If Trudeau and Mulcair want to talk about cleaning up the environment maybe they could work to stop dumping shit into the St Lawrence in the province they call home and which Trudeau tells us Quebec is better than the rest of us.
Hey maybe it’s time for the West to separate to give those of us blessed with common sense a place to live, La La land called BC may need to be excluded.

  12. CBC.Ca ran the following headline. ”Peter MacKay’s prostitution law news conference sowed confusion.”
My comment was: ”Just look at who he was talking to.”
    Doubt if they`ll print that!
