In the larger scheme of things, you’re right. It’s part of the overall governmental program to determine how we nasty humans are destroying the planet. What is more permanent than a temporary government program?
They view everything through the lens of global warming and even when they discover evidence of cooling they don’t believe their very eyes.
So all cooling is temporary and all warming is permanent no matter what the facts on (or in) the ground say? Very scientific thought process you have there.

Why is lake water receding always “alarming”? I’ve seen water levels on various lakes raise and fall all my life and nothing drastic happened.
Yeah well, perhaps what they have discovered are the first signs of an oncoming glaciation.

Climate Cultists
The climate change crusaders, who have been at it for a quarter-century, appear to be going clinically mad. Start with the rhetorical monotony and worship of authority (“97 percent of all scientists agree!”), add the Salem witch trial-style intimidation and persecution of dissenters, and the categorical demand that debate about science or policy is over because the matter is settled, and you have the profile of a cult-like sectarianism that has descended into paranoia and reflexive bullying.
