What is scary is that the AGW experts (PhD’s) are focusing on Nuclear Power as the Solution (which is the correct solution). They are not experts in anything and need to form a cluster F@@@ or circle jerk and let real engineers design the systems.
Judging from the article comments, the obvious thing is not to shoot the politicians and grifting energy scammers. but to shoot the engineers who can’t keep these grifters’ promises. Some idiot is talking about “organic” high flow batteries. BS With wind power, you require power storage (batteries, pumped, rotating) to buffer the production, or you will always have this. By the way, check out rotating storage. Looks like a big homopolar motor, but it works with a huge capacitor. The rotor can rotate at about 36,000 rpm, is almost solid metal and can store an enormous amount of energy. Has been used to power large railguns.
Our Osages just put the kibosh on a rancher who wanted to put up a wind farm in Oklahoma. He was complaining that he could not maximize the profits from his (their, the Osage own the land usage)) land. He and T.Boone Pickens do not have the rest of us in mind in their grifting.

But seriously, when I lived in London, the Brit eco-nut community always seemed to speak as if the whole planet were as deforested and concreted over as the borough of Islington – which is as far north as any of them ventured.
A trip to the Highlands soon shows how empty even the island of Great Britain is.
(I longed to take these clowns to, say, Miramichi, New Brunswick, and perch them on a ranger tower then have them look due west. Forest as far as the eye can see and way off beyond that again right through Maine. And that’s just a teeny portion of North America.)

Most Scottish I have met are flaming pinkos, which was always a surprise to me given how tough they make themselves out to be. But then again I shouldn’t be surprised given that they skip around in skirts. There is nothing more unappealing than arguing with a man in a skirt about global warming.

But when you have two Scotsmen, in rubber boots, and only one sheep… resolve becomes second nature.

On a more serious note to Slap Shot: The published letter is non-verified but rings true. If correct this is classic disaster scenario where first salvo takes out you command and control system – this is what happened on the Piper Alpha oil rig explosion too. And I share your concern about our ability now to perform fine feats of engineering like building new nuclear power since our engineering standards have been so corrupted by Green thinking.

“Green power” is great if cost and reliability are not important. When they talk about storing intermittent power with batteries, hold onto your wallet. It’s a lot like “carbon capture”-technology that has not been invented yet and would be prohibitively expensive anyway.
The anti AGW legislators really make a mistake by not attaching requirement for pumped storage to be built, to ensure reliable supply. Say a 5 : 1 ratio of pumped storage to average windmill output. An ancillary benefit would be to increase the already astronomical cost of a wind megawatt. Such a demand iwould be the perfect filibuster, as no green would ever countenance the massive reservoir construction necessary for pumped storage.
