Rationing: Not a bug, but a feature!
“We have to break people away from the choice habit that everyone has,” said Marcus Merz, the chief executive of PreferredOne, an insurer in Golden Valley, Minn., that is owned by two health systems and a physician group. “We’re all trying to break away from this fixation on open access and broad networks.”

Soviet communism was predicated on need where there was abundance and redistributing that abundance to the needy – of course the producers left town and redistribution becomes rationing as omnipotent government produces nothing – you can’t eat or wear regulation – so consumable commodities become scarce.
North American soviet styled progressivist communism is predicated on the same tired commie premise (need) but this conflicts with reality – we have abundance because we allowed independence of producers and eliminated central control of wealth redistribution economic meritocracy – everyone has what they need here – the poor are fed and housed, they may WANT a BMW but they have a beater Nissan – that isn’t need, that is envy (which NDP exploit) – acturally we have all we need and more if we want to get it, it’s available in exchange for work, innovation and risk – so what does a determined neo Marxist do to disguise their kleptocractic agenda in a land of plenty and wide spread affluence – why, farm guilt and tell us we have too much for our own good, we are immoral because of our productivity, we need to trim back the want of a good life – ‘need’ becomes the need for forced austerity in that frame of reference supply control and rationing is gooooooood, abundance and economic independence are baaaaad – repeat like a matra until you actually believe this vacuity.
Comfort guilt will provide (a very thin and obvious) justification for putting kleptocrats in charge of allocating consumable resources. Modern Progressivist Socialism isn’t about helping the down trodden by redistributing wealth, it’s about concentrating wealth and power in the hands of a few kleptocrat oligarchs (Russia and Ukraine are prime examples). This is why so many North American corporate oligarchs and wealthy insiders support socialism – because it puts more wealth and power at their disposal – particularly if you own the politicians doing it – a kleptocrat is the easiest thing for a monopolist to purchase so remember – every time you hear one yipping about how you have too much, he’s really saying HE hasn’t enough yet to satisfy his own avarice and he wants to confiscate yours so he and his boss can devide the spoils for their own use.
You NEVER see a poor career kleptocrat – or one who practices the austerity they preach.
Occam says “why, farm guilt”
and doesn’t it always produce the ‘crop’ that never fails.
We have had almost no doctor choice here in Canada for decades now. As the Boomers need more health care we will see how that stands up. The cry for the ‘little white pill’ will go through the roof!
Occam, you said it very well. Kudos to you.
“North American soviet styled progressivist communism” with the help of a mostly progressive communist media is winning the hearts and minds of the people at the moment. Based on the experience of the people of eastern Europe, the “people” will be sorry some day they bought into this false utopia. And the crony capitalists that buy into this and hope to cash in will discover the truth of Lenin’s expression that the communist will hang the capitalist who sells him the rope.
Welcome to the Brave New World, where all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others and Big Brother is watching.
Y’all are advised to have a doctor in the family. It is not sufficient to make friends with a doctor, you need blood ties at this point. If you don’t have one, start guiding the smarter kids in the family that way. It will pay off when the death panel decides Grandma ain’t worth saving. Because in five years driving to Buffalo and paying cash will no longer be an available option.
Sounds crazy and harsh, doesn’t it? Yep. Also true. So consider carefully the next time you decide the CPC has peeved you off and you’re voting Green as a protest.
Canada has a potential opportunity to start up clinics near the US border staffed with doctors and other practitioners interested in good money and excellent working conditions. The services can’t be available to Canadians thanks to their progressive culture and fealty to statist slavery of “free stuff”, unionized sloth and monopoly statist (delivery) but many Americans will eventually want the service. Perhaps the Americans will reciprocate although the potential market is only 10%. Either we do it or the business goes to Mexico, India or Thailand, or perhaps off-shore floating medical centres (cash only – no third party payers/regulators).
Art imitates life.. or is it the other way round?

“So consider carefully the next time you decide the CPC has peeved you off and you’re voting Green as a protest.”
Ontario made that mistake years ago with Bob Rae. He won the provincial election because people voted him in as a protest vote. The result was the incompetent Ontario NDP government cutting back on the education of doctors along with the economic destruction of Ontario. Now, 20 years later, Canada has a shortage of doctors. So, think twice before voting in a leftist slimebag. It may just save a life or two.
Well at least they’re getting all the Affirmative Action they wanted.
Too bad for them it comes at a price, a BIG price.
More for me, less for you. The call of the political Elite to action on the peasants.
After all the beer swilling popcorn hockey watching bigoted citizans are the enemy of “progressivism”.
Which translates as all you own is ours. Live with it because we won’t. The British revenue service now being allowed to ravage peoples saving accounts says it all.
I expect it to be implemented here & America. We are now ruled by thieves of a dark
Empire of organized Mobster-ism in the cloths of a Democracy. Our corporations are now welfare bums, seeking monies from workers to funnel into their monopolies.
“We have to break people away from the choice habit that everyone has,”
Ironic that the people who are “pro-choice” aren’t for general health care.
